Buying in the UK - Nexus 7 (2013) General

So this isn't due in the UK for another month, but I want one pretty desperately (impatient!)
Can buy it from eBuyer for £230 and they say it will be delivered on 28th Aug.
But there are so many of these on Ebay that are perfectly legit, with shipping from the US. The price works out roughly the same, sometimes cheaper.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Google-Ne...51312472043?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item3a8363ffeb
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-NEW...51091775153?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item232dc586b1
Obviously this way I'd get it a lot sooner. Am I missing something? Is there any reason not to buy one of these and wait an extra few week?
What are the rest of you from the UK doing?

You'd almost certainly have to pay import tax and fees of £30+ on top of the eBay price so it might start to get expensive.
I've got a 16GB on the way to the UK by using Amazon US and comGateway for forwarding. It's cost me £175 for the Nexus and Amazon/comGateway's shipping so I'm hopeful that after tax/fees it won't be far off the £200 UK price...

Normally they'll add on 20% when it gets into England. So you'll end up roughly paying the same.
I'd do it too, the only concern being warranty issues

My thoughts exactly if something is wrong you will have to pay even more to get it shipped back to the usa and then back again it's not worth the hassle may as well wait 4 weeks and buy a uk model.

Yep. Also Google play might sell it earlier than august 29th. Probably won't, but you know. Personally I'd prefer to buy from Google, as their replacement service is excellent

Ah that's true, hadn't really thought about the warranty. Not worth the risk for an extra couple of week I guess.
I'm sure I'll cope ! Cheers

£45 discount at CWH so quickly. How money back?

I guess we are considered early adopters when buying the galaxy tab in the first few days of launch.
Not even 2 weeks later and in the UK the prices drop, at Carphonewarehouse by £45, 10%
I feel being ripped off and would like the difference back. Not yet successful however...
Anyone else more successful?

Price of N4 IN UK

Just wondering if i dont buy it from google how much would the N4 cost from uk carriers such carphone warehouse or o2, orange, 3, off contract
Thx in advance

Look at the CPW website - it has O2 costs.
O2's got exclusivity for a month...then all the others will roll out their offers.
Prices sim free are 239£ and 279£, respectively for 8gb and 16gb

I will be keeping an eye out elsewhere for one but only sim free versions from retailers, main reason is because of the trouble Google had with the n7 and people who paid the same elsewhere getting them first with better customer service if they got a faulty unit

When CPW "accidentally" put the pre-order page up a while back and when the info got leaked in a store somewhere it said something like £390.
I'm ordering through Play. No way am I paying an extra £110 for a there-and-then deal.
I don't know why people are dissing the UK play store that much over the N7 debacle on release. They sent out pre-orders a few days later, or rather the e-tailers like ebuyer jumped the gun and sold them earlier instead. It's not like the N7 all arrived damaged or anything stupid like that.
Unless you're willing to wait a month so everything settles down, your best bet is to order direct from Google Play. There is still a chance of it costing more from elsewhere, or it might not, but it certainly won't be any cheaper than from Google Play, especially on release.

The flack wasn't so much the delay it was the shambolic customer service, i didn't deal with them personally but heard several stories of people trying to cancel orders to go to ebuyer and google just ignoring them, then trying to return them caused even more hassle. It didn't help they were being compared to ebuyer who generally have decent service when it comes to cancelling orders and returns.
Someone over on avforums has said that they spoke to carphone warehouse today and that they are still insisting on £380 sim free as they aren't geting them in at anywhere near the price google are flogging them. If that is the case it seems mad and I hope google cap it to 1 per household for a bit otherwise i can see shops rinsing their supply. I think i'll be ordering as soon as I get back from holiday on the 18th (unless our hotel has some free wifi going).

Do we get taxed?

I'm located in BC, Canada. Does anyone have experience to buying google devices on play.google.com?
Those of you in Canada, did you have to pay tax? Or is it $309 outright?
One more question, can we preorder the phone or do we have to wait til Nov 13 to buy the phone online?
Thanks~!
I'm sure there will be taxes collected somehow... as for when we order I'm not sure. Hoping earlier then the 13 so we get it on that day. So in other words a pre-order.

When you place your order it will be from Google Canada Corp. You will be charged HST and shipping. There are no pre-orders.
Thanks for the promptly replies! I think I'll buy it in stores to save on the shipping. How soon do you think Futureshop or Bestbuy will start selling the N4? Right on the 13th?
Thanks~!
Doubt it. Maybe 2-7 days after. There hasn't been any leaked info about anyone carrying it in stores in Canada yet. Same with carriers. The only carrier that I have seen that has any info on if they will be carrying it is tmobile. That's it.
I could be wrong tho.

For profit. They know people will pay $20 or 30 more because they won't buy it online. You might be able to price match it if your lucky.
Profit. Cover costs like shipping. Marketing etc. Wouldn't be surprised if I see if for 450+ in stores.

Well hopefully it won't be too expensive... When I got the nexus 7 from best buy when it first came out, they charged the same as play store (259 CAD).
$403.20 after tax

btw, anybody here on wind/mobilicity?
As an employee of best buy in Canada I can tell you that the company won't be selling the phone outright. (Galaxy nexus wasn't sold either) Makes absolutely no profit (all profits come from activations not phone sales) so your best bet, and mine, is the Google play store.

I didn't make any profit from selling my S3 ;'(
UK buyer here. I was under the impression that the £279 for the 16 gig included tax.
After having another look on the "Devices on Google Play Terms of Sale (Great Britain)" page it states:
All prices include VAT.
All applicable taxes will be presented at checkout, even if they are not displayed on the product page.
So what is it, the price shown includes VAT, or it doesnt and an extra 80 quid will be thrown on top of the 279?

Expected price of the GN 3

I wonder what the expected price of the Note 3 would be after settling down for a month.
I see differing prices for preorders in some sits and it is way more expensive to the the price I paid for my unlocked Note 2.
Close to 950 USD..
I prebooked mine without even knowing the price.
Has anyone got an idea about this?

These are SIM unlocked (can be on multiple carriers) and possibly not bootloader locked. Let the buyer beware.
In italy we are expecting 729 euro, on the 25th of september.
Of course price will go down. Same thing happened last year. Hardcore fans will be pay that price but most average buyers will wait it out. I'm waiting price will drop once released, also lack of sales figures will help drop price.
If it saves me 50-100 Then it's worth the wait.
Just saw a post in ce4arab forum that a user saw it in display at a shopping mall.
Price is between 750 and 800 USD for the 3g and the lte.
I will go and meet the note 3 tomorrow.

$50 TO $100 will take months. not worth the wait to me
Netherlands is set at around €711 (T-Mobile)/€699 unbranded (Studentmobiel), Germany unbranded at around €649.
The S4 (snapdragon) was €649 at launch in Germany, and is €499 today. So prices do most certainly drop over time!

Watch this space, won't be long now. Some retailers already selling it cheaper then initial price of 649 can be picked up for 609 in the uk!! Probably due to several factors primarily poor preorders, still plastic, iPhone release date and rumours of Nexus 5. Patient is most certainly a virtue pal but of course if you are smartphone junkie that doesn't mean anything,
I can't help thinking Samsung are greedier then ever before, they give you less for your money. I'm personally waiting for nexus 5 to make up my mind which to get by then hopefully price would have dropped much further.

Nowhere to preorder it in Belgium, I was considering placing an order at some UK store ( they stock it on 26th)...but the Netherlands is closer...
also,on all *.nl sites the availability is quoted "end september" as opposed to clove.co.uk where it clearly states 26th as shipping out date....in Germany it's 29th

To me, it's a toy, not food needed for nourishment or the cure for cancer.
I always bid my time and buy my toys long after the herds have settled down. I'll be getting the N3 (if i decide to get it) months and months after it's launched and for hundreds of dollars less. I can wait that long and it's worth it to me.
My current Note 2 cost me 300 and I didn't die because I didn't get it on day one rather than months later and much cheaper. Yeah, there are folks like me.
BTW, I really appreciate folks who go out and get stuff on day one regardless of price. You keep the game alive versus cheapos like me. ???

You're not a cheapie you've just got your priorities right. Essentials take precedence over luxuries.
Keep it up you're a dying breed in an age of consumption fuelled society.
Those who can afford to get in on it from the gate should go for it if they so wish, those who can't should wait until they can, simple as that.
There is nothing wrong with constantly buying "the next big thing" if you can afford it and nothing wrong with waiting if you can't.

Mine came in an open box, but from what i have read, this happens in all stores.
New Egg is definitively not Amazon, i had lots of problems ordering mine, and customer service could not provide a simple answer. Having said that, they currently have the white version for $279, and you could see if their Masterpass offer (20% off) is still active for even more savings.

Yes. You have to go in store and have one of the workers look online and see that its indeed cheaper. Sometimes you can show them on your phone but most often they look it up themselves. Sometimes they try to say its not the same item but obviously there's only one model of the gpad. Only difference is white and black. Also they think all tablets are white due to the box only showing the white version. So you need to educate them that they need to read the sticker to see if it's black or white.

Honestly it all depends on the store. They will probably just price match the 299 price. The good thing about best buy is if you have any issues you can exchange easily. I had to exchange mine that had a dust particle under the screen.

Two days ago I had best buy match the $329 Newegg price. I am going to factory reset and return this tomorrow, then order from Newegg for $279.
Best buy will not post purchase price match with anyone other than themselves. They also won't match the coupon deal part.
While best buy has improved recently in response to online retailers putting pressure on then; they still will loose business this time with the restrictions of their policy.
It will be a pain to do this but worth $50.
I bought my LG G Pad 8.3 from Newegg when it was on sale for $250, tablet came just fine and works like a charm, no issues, have dealt with Newegg in the past and never had any issues.
I purchased mine yesterday using the 20 $ off total was about 299$. LOL I live in New Jersey so I had to pay $20 tax. Will let you guys know how it goes.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Newegg is usually fine, though they do like to re-sell returned items from time to time (especially for exchange replacements), and their return policy blows (they force you to pay shipping - about $12 - and won't ship you a new item until they receive and process the old one, which takes about a week). The one I got in the $250 sale was perfect, but the screen got borked during a screen protector installation, and the replacement seems to have faulty power/volume buttons.
Just returned the Best Buy one. That was $329 plus tax. Just ordered newegg with 3 day shipping, no tax to GA only $283.99 total.
I ordered mine yesterday as well for $283.99. As with all stores and sites, there will be some bad experiences. After reading all the positive reviews I opted to go with newegg. I paid via paypal in case there is some big problem and it's easier to dispute through them than my bank. Hopefully will get home from work on Fri. to have it waiting on me.

Back between Thanksgiving and Christmas I had Best Buy price match New Egg twice via phone. At that time they were running a post purchase guarantee but currently they (BB) only post match with themselves. The low price guarentee page on their site shows the policy.
