Very Weak Notification LED - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody else think the Notification LED is very weak? It is almost impossible to see it blink on sunny days.
On my S3, there was a customization on the ROM that allowed the LED to light up completely, instead of fading. It made it much more strong. Anybody knows if there is such a MOD for i9505?

Well in 9500 there's the options to change led brightness thanks to andreilux

[Q] [REQ] Enable a led on the NS? is there one to enable?

Is there a led that a dev can eventually get to work as a notification led? Or is there simply no led built into the phone that will work. This is a very crappy issue for us NS owners that came from the N1, I miss my trackball lighting up from across the room and knowing wether or not it was a txt or an email etc..
Will the NS ever have this? Or is it simply not going to happen?

A) Wrong section.
B) Answered in the stickied FAQ in the right section:

Q: There's no LED Indicator? What are those two circles next to the speaker?
Correct, like all Samsung devices(minus the Epic 4G on Sprint) thus far, there is no LED indicator light. There are apps, such as NoLED, on the marketplace which work great on the Nexus S and provide more or less the same functionality. Those two circles are the Proximity Sensor and Ambient Light sensor.

Not really the wrong forum if it were something that could be developed. It would have been a request for something to be developed. Regardless, I guess we are just stuck without an led light. NO LED blows compared to the trackball on the N1

There's literally nothing to be developed, mate. There is physically no LED light in this phone unless you wanted to open her up and install one yourself.

Yea, that is the unfortunate news i was figuring I would get. So is no led the only app that does this though?

Splitting hairs there, bro.
And yes, I'm sure the.. er.. I'm blanking on the name of the app that will use the buttons as notifications will come around once a custom kernel has been developed to support it.
not sure why we need ANOTHER thread about the LED (or lack of). do a SEARCH!

Done.
Thanks for the replies,i did do some homework on it before buying it but I didn't bother searching if the cell had something as common as a notification light ...i saw two little circles on top s i was wondering if one was a light that's all..I haven't rooted this cell yet so for now i am going to try the no led app that's on the market....i am guessing thats going to drain the battery though...I am coming from a droid x and also had a droid so Samsung is all new to me...gotta learn some stuff..thanks again..

i used noled when i had a sgs, i can tell, it's a battery enemy, if you don't see the notification fast, it will kill your battery. on the other hand, BLN in static light (no blinking), consume really less juice, BUT, you will need a special kernel to activate it...

It's internal. There's no removable SD card. Just copy it to your internal storage and push/flash from there.
But given all that you've posted thus far, be sure to read VERY carefully so you don't harm your phone. It looks as though you might be a bit new to all this.
yes i am haha,,,just rooted using a metod i Google and installed cwm lol everything is ok thus far haha now to go find the kernel haha any recommendation on which to choose for good battery and the notification signal i wanted ??

Touch Key Light as Notification Light

Hello,
Since my A300FU doesn't have LED Notification, is there any mod that allow Touch Key Light work as Notifocation light? Because I do remember, long time ago, someone manage to mod i9000 touch key light to become notif light.
So, I believe there is a chane to mod it in our A series phone.
Thank you very much.

I don't know exactly what the name of it, but what I mean is those 'back' and 'recent app' button.
Yes, those are called the Capacitive Keys or Buttons.
It used to be kernel dependent with the BNL stuff, but i've seen a lot of apps do this now.
I found these:
http://www.redmondpie.com/transform...d-device-into-notification-led-with-this-app/
http://geeknizer.com/use-capacitive-buttons-as-notification-led-on-android/
i had no time to test so dont consider this researched yet ...
the lack of LED lights in A series sucks...really short sighted sammy.

This is a kernel feature called BLN. If the kernel does not support it, then no app could activate it or use it... A500FU stock kernel does not support BLN

yup, i may stand corrected there, but i havent seen BLN stuff for ages...in fact, i've seen it last in S2 forums.
btw, i remember BLN being a battery hog...
Or... instead of BLN, you could use camera LED flash when receiving calls, messages, or notifications...
NoLed from playstore is almost as good as having LED for our AMOLED devices .
So, I believe, what we need right now is kernel developer, because I think we can get the kernel source of A300FU from here: http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=a300fu.
Right?

You are kind of wrong. Its whole different in AMOLED displays than LED displays.
On AMOLED the whole screen doesn't turn on. Only those pixels that are being used.
And I can assure you, absolutely no extra battery drainage what so ever occurs.

So, for example, flash light in not yellow? Night pictures are not garbage? Even with moded Google camera? For me, camera is pretty useless if i don't use it outside.
There is also some signal dropping but that's another story.

Yellow flashlight because dual tone flash not a bug, camera is garbage on this phone and it's not any better on MIUI, especially in low light.
Signal drop is visual indicator bug, signal is fine you will not drop out of the call.

I don't care about the colour of the torch. If/when I need to use the torch, I don't think that my greatest priority will be yellow or white light. I have no issues with the camera in low light conditions. The modded OnePlus5 camera app deals perfectly well with that, as much as anyone can reasonably expect.
wait till LOS adapts those codes n someone build a Oreo tree for our device ...
