Well, I among many other moaned and complained there was not Treo Pro forum so I am now celebrating this with legitimate contributions.
Well, anyway I went ahead and as always bought myself a Zagg Invisible Shield for my Treo Pro which arrived late last week. It was a few more pieces than I am used too as my iPod only required two pieces (front and back). This unit actually comes with a screen protector, a back piece, a piece for the palm logo, a piece for both the calendar as well as mail buttons, a strip for both the left side and right side and finally a small piece to go in between the power button and the silencer switch.
So as you may have noticed from the above it is a bit more complicated then an average screen protector. However I will not use a device that I spent $500 on without serious protection so I went head first into the install.
As always after carefully and tirelessly installing the device I continue my love hate relationship with the invisible shield. They are phenomenal in the sense that the parts that install correctly are truly invisible and provide amazing and tough protection for your device.
However my only dislike with the product stems from the fact that literally I spent 30 minutes installing the shield and it still is far from perfect. The toughest air bubbles never go away, some pieces will apply and do not seal on the device perfectly and there simply is no way to get it stick perfectly. Also my biggest gripe stems from the fact that the back piece has the palm logo cut out from it, which makes sense until you realize sliding the phone in and out of your pocket can drag on that making it less and less of a tight seal. On top of that a gripe with all invisible shields is that dust, and lint from your pocket inevitably sticks to every crevasse of the device.
Well long story short it may be hard to tell but I actually really like the shield. It serves its purpose nicely and as a hole it lets the device still be beautiful and shiny (even more so believe it or not) and because of the material does not attract fingerprints at all. Which as many may agree is worth the price of admission alone!
Well if anyone has any invisible shield questions feel free to ask, also I have an extra 20% coupon to go around for anyone who may be interested in picking one up. First come first serve however!
I also just installed the Invisible Shield on my Pro. I had the same struggles (I love how they say to put the piece in place and slide it around to get it to fit - once its in place you cant move it!). In fact, I haven't put on the small pieces for the edge because I thought they would be the hardest. I was able to get the back piece on without a bubble and got all the corners to stick down! It looks great.
Like you, I have a love/hate relationship with Zagg's or their competitor's shields. But they are the best protection for your device possible. I have dropped other devices on bare concrete without even leaving a mark on the shield. I was extremely careful with my Pro before getting the shield on.
My only worry is the screen protector fits nicely inside the lip around the edge of the case, but doesn't overlap it any. If something hits that edge just right, it may mark up the Treo. Oh well, nothing's perfect and I couldn't leave my Pro unprotected any longer.

Just installed on my TP as well as my wife's Curve. The larger pieces were great, all went on without a hitch. I chose not to install the smaller side pieces, at least for now.
To look at the TP sitting on the table, you'd never know there was a protective coating at all. It's absolutely invisible.
I was surprised to find that the stuff is much more rubbery feeling than I expected. It just feels softer, somehow, than I had expected after looking at the Zagg website.
I just installed the zaggs on my treo this weekend and three really nice things that I have to point out first is the rubbery feel as stated in an earlier post, I don't feel like the phone is gonna slip out of my hands. 2nd is i have about 90 percent less finger prints on my phone now. The 3rd thing is my opinion and it's that I feel the touchscreen is so much more responsive. I would like to see if any one feels the same thing that I stated in the latter.
Last weekend I applied the shield to my TP and I am very impressed. There are two small points where the shield didn't stick properly (on the corners on the back, I probably didn't align things precise enough), but apart from that you hardly see it. I also like the "rubbery" feel of it. Gives the TP a nice grip.
Just a tip for people who are going to install the invisible shield: make sure to apply plenty of spray on the sticky side of the shield. I found out that then you get no air bubbles and you are able to slide it like advertised. After half a minute or so the shield will start to stick and dry beautifully.

Everyone - like others have said, I applied the invisible shield to my TP last evening and it looks great and I love the fact it doesn't feel like it is going to slip out of my hands when I handle it. I just applied the back and front pieces - didn't bother with the side pieces. Would definitely recommend it to others and as one blogger said - plenty of spray works the best.
seeing some pics on the raphael thread, it kinda makes the raphael look a bit 'plasticky' and cheap.
do you guys think this is so, or is it 'invisible'...

If you get it put on correctly, then it truly is almost 'invisible'. I used lots of solution and pateince and am happy with the result. i would say it perhaps has a 'plasticky' feel (which i like - no longer feel like it's going to slip out of my hands every time i use it), but doesn't look that way.
does it decrease touch screens sensitivity compared to factory given screens? And would it cause it hard to write with a stylus? like sticky?
Get PhantomSkinz instead of Invisible Shield. Protects better and isn't sticky on the outside like the Invisible Shield.
I've gotten a zagg for my past 3 devices (HTC Touch, Samsung Ace, Treo 755)
I've never had a sticky problem. I've been quite happy with them, so I just bought one this morning for my Treo Pro... I'll let you know if i get a sticky one.

Just browsing through and forgot I even opened this thread. I have to give my update as things stand now.
I would say after heavy usage the invisible shield holds up great. The parts that get beat up the most and will accumulate dust in the corners. The part that covers the screen has held up perfectly and looks just as good as I put it on day one. I feel it is way more responsive and it doesn't pick up finger prints.
I just put mine on this weekend and it went very smoothly and looks great. It certainly isn't sticky on the outside... I think the poster with that problem might have put it on backwards.
I really appreciate the added grip, as the treopro without skin was so slippery I nearly dropped the phone quite a few times.

Hmmm. Added grip but it's not sticky.
well sticky and added grip are different.. and in this case the grip is a feature.
I gave IS a try and I can't say I was too thrilled about it. It has it's pros and cons which i'll list below.
Pros:
1. The material provides a nice grip, the phone feels secure in your hands.
2. IF you get every piece put on perfect it's somewhat invisible.
3. The material does provide the best protection against scratches.
4. If you have a touch screen phone it works great with the stylus....only.
Cons:
1. The material does have an orange peel look to it when the light hits it, not a huge deal.
2. If you don't get every piece (8 for the treo pro) put on perfect it can be noticeable and not all that great to look at.
3. Lint sticks to ALL of the edges of each piece you install.. all 8 pieces. The "Invisible" shield isn't so invisible anymore.
4. I'd rate IS a 1/10 when it comes to finger friendly on the screen. once you press hard enough with your finger or your finger nail to drag an item your finger will stutter, and not move smoothly. The OS will now think your clicking on several parts of the screen and it can be extremely frustrating.
I'm not trying to bash IS but I personally did not like it on my treo pro. On the other hand, if I ever have a NON touch screen phone in the future I may consider it. I ended up sending my IS back about 3 weeks after using it and replaced it with the Seidio Innocase II I also wrote a review on the Innocase II which you can read Here
Yes, Invisible Shield blows. Phantom Skinz have all of the same protection but without the orange peel and without the sticky, dragging feeling when you push on it.

As many of you guys have noticed with your G1s, there are some issues with the screen! From it wobbling to creaking and god knows what else will come up. I got my G1 exactly 1 week ago, and I have noticed that the screen is wobbly when the phone is closed. It might just be me, but I keep noticing it and think its annoying. So I decided to make a quick easy fix for it. All you need is some clear plastic sheet maybe half a millimeter thick, Elmer's glue and scissors.
Cut the sheet maybe 1 to 2 millimeters wide and a centimeter or so long and place it in the bottom corner of the phone's chin, next to the small bump from the memory card slot. I dont have pictures right now, but the idea is pretty basic and you should be able to figure it out on your own.
After, the phone feels a lot more solid and the wobbling is gone!
I was actually just thinking of doing something similar the other day. Although, laziness got the best of me :-T

Currently I am looking into actually custom designed cases for the phone with designs on it. I really like the design on the back of the battery cover of the Developer edition phone and am looking into making something like that.
I have resolved this problem with a silicon case from ebay. It comes with 2 parts, one on the main body and one on the screen body. Now when the phone slides, the silicone parts are touching each other so there is no wobbling.

i had extra strips of universal screen protectors and used those. not only did it help with the squeaks. but it lined the screen up again. it always bothered me how it felt uneven while it was closed.
as for custom cases, count me in. i go through cases a little too quickly.

Haha sounds good! Do you have any idea on a good tool to use to actually make the design? I would say sharpie, but it really isn't as permanent as I would want it, it will fade away too quickly.
haha sharpie. that's the reason i go through cases like there's no tomorrow. slow days at work drive creativity lol. i even went to a friend's shop that prints and cuts vinyl graphics for cars and had them cut the same dimentions of the shield skins

That is pretty , much the same concept as my idea, except i used completely removable Elmer's glue, but which ever one works for you
And does anyone know where I can buy Developer edition battery covers?

Good news and bad news
Good news: Just been into Carphone Warehouse. And discovered Talk Mobile do a tariff. 12 month, £30/month, 400 mins, texts and Unlimited data with no fair usage limit. Handset £179. That in my eyes is a cracking deal.
Bad news: Handset looks nice, but has the ergonomics of a shoe box. Does not feel nice in the hand at all. Compared to my HD2. I maybe use to how my fone feels, but the edges just felt too square.
Also i tested both phones on moneysavingexpert.com homepage. The colours were perfect on the SG2. HD2 colours looked washed out. But I was testing clarity of the small letters. Both were identical. Iphone 4 is the yardstick for this and it fails.
So im passing on this and waiting for the HTC Sensation. The look and feel is paramount, u cant touch memory, so shouldnt miss it too much.
SG2= ergonomic fail.
I want to view pages without having to zoom all the time and read pdfs. Nice phone but no cigar, this time

to each its own. I couldnt stand my hd2 after having my galaxy s for a year. But it comes down to persoal preference. Im pretty sure theres some happy people enjoying there devices.
I agree. Nothing wrong with the phone, I just have a specific requirement to be able to use service manual pdf's on the move so i dont have to dig out the laptop.

Having just upgraded from a HD2 yesterday I don't agree at all - the Galaxy S II feels a lot nicer in the hand. However, thanks to it's plastic construction, there is no doubt it feels less sturdy than HTC's offering. I get the impression that, despite the Gorilla Glass, one drop of this thing onto a hard surface would lead to a world of hurt. I'm not saying that is definitely the case but it feels that way.
I have a FlexiShield skin on order and I will feel a lot more comfortable once my phone is in it. I bought one for my HD2 18 months ago when I first got it and it saved it from at least a couple of drops. Superb cover.
On a side note, is anyone going to bother with a screen protector? I have never had a Gorilla Glass phone before so don't know the likelihood of it scratching. I much prefer touch-screen phones with no protector but for obvious reasons it's not a good idea.
lots of people aren't bothering with ascreen protector. they bring a good point that... anything that can scratch the gorilla glass will probably pass through any screen protector anyway. having said that... i'm getting one. i have one for my GS as well.
as for the GS II i just may not put it on yet

Yeah, we really needed to know this. Nobody is forcing you to buy anyone phone so if you don't like this one there is no need to run home, jump on the interwebz and make a thread on the forum about it.

Dropped my SGS multiple times on hard flooring, concrete and Asphalt and despite thinking one drop and it was a goner the thing doesn't have a scratch on the screen, body still looks new and works perfectly. I wonder if the SGS II is the same way but I will not be dropping it anytime soon to find out.
I love my Galaxy SII but it seems that you might be better off with a 7in tablet such as the Galaxy Tab or maybe a bigger tablet such as the Advent Vega or iPad.
I personally couldn't read PDFs on a screen smaller than 7in for very long.
This is good info for me. Nexus One owner and I sported an HD2 for a few weeks and loved the feel and size, knowing it had the dimensions of my next phone (G2x was a failure for me).

yeh I know what your on about I went from iPhone 4 to gs2 and text is so hard to read with no reflow option, but I gain so much more with customization, and the weight is great, the iPhone feels like such a brick now.
in saying that I had a hd2 and really missed it after I got the iPhone, thought I could get that feeling back with the sgs2 but it's not the same hd2 is a quality product.

unfortunately i love all the technology packed inside that "disgusting" shell so is either take it or leave it, and i choose to take it
so the ergonomic fail became a non issue for me, as i'll be replacing the case, and using with a protection case, and other accessories i always slap onto all of my phones; i praise the after market accessories people to make the impossible possible

Disgusting? Seriously? Dear me, it takes all sorts I guess and the world would be a boring place if we all had the same opinions.
IMO: I like very much the design, I can hold it in one hand and even type with one hand, it holds perfectly in my right hand... Even ergonomically I like it. It's simply perfect for me.
It's up to you to choose another phone. I would never choose another now. Especially HTC sensation which have many things less than Galaxy S2.

What I don't understand is the point of this topic ? If you feel it not as you want anyone else could feel it in the hand differently like me. And many peeps have already said they like the feel in the hand in this thread so your opinion can't be taken for facts until someone interested in it hold it for real :/ anyway...
Pitching in on the ergonomics of the device being awesome, for me anyway. If you have really small hands then this will probably be a pretty bad phone for you, since it wont fit comfortably into a normal grip. That aside, for people with average or large hands, this design works very well. You can keep a very firm grip on it easily, and one handed operation works too, all while having a 4.3" screen.
Not sure about the people saying it feels cheap or anything, unless you correlate cheap with light - because it's very light. If this is the case, you can buy a nice big heavy cover for the device to make it feel heavier and sturdier - but that seems really stupid to me. A phone is meant to be mobile, the lighter the better.
Phones won't be perfect until they're razor thin, bendable, and weight as much as paper! And the SGS2 is firmly on the right track.
To me I'm loving everything about the phone, ergonomics included. I don't have huge hands but find the phone very easy to hold and use for one handed operation.
As for a screen protector I will say a big NO. I work for a Verizon retailer and we have a demo line hooked up to their version of the first galaxy s, the fascinate, that also has gorilla glass. Being inquisitive and it being a demo line, I decided to test the durability of gorilla glass. Grabbed a phillips head screw driver and preceded to try and scratch the screen. Repeatedly I scraped it, scratched back and forth quickly, and somewhat violently tried to stab it. Wiped off the screen with a micro-fiber cloth and not one scratch or mark on it, gorilla glass is really some remarkable stuff.
I'm not saying its impossible to damage it, but it will take some serious effort. Since most of you guys probably take care of your phones anyway, with gorilla glass your screen will be fine. A screen protector on gorilla glass just seems redundant .
Problem is... the old galaxy didn't have an oleophobic coating. You try taking a screwdriver to that and the coating WILL come off. The screen will be resilient, but not the coating, sorry.

The HD2 is such a class act to follow, it's replacement has a to be nearly as iconic.
And only then will I splash the cash.
We are all Android fanboi's so whatever we rock is cool.
Loving my new Z3 - miles better than my previous (dead) note 3. Battery life is beyond amazing, and waterproof is a defo plus. Performance kicks note 3 ass (samsung bloatware).
However, mine had suicidal tendencies - the back is soooo smooth that it slides off surfaces and makes a jump for it... so far it hasn't damaged it, but its scary.
Ive found an old screen protector, cut down to a few cm square and stuck on the back settles it down.
Might help someone and prevent a tragedy

The glass is so smooth and flat that I've noticed it creates an "air hockey" like effect as well. The phone likes to creep across seemingly flat even surfaces. With that said, I highly recommend front and back tempered glass screen protectors, if not anything else, not having to worry if you're going to scratch the screen if you slide it across something or have your keys next to the phone. I've also noticed as the glass screen protectors develop minor scratches, it tends to help with the phone creeping across surfaces as well.
might be a bit impractical for some/most, but i almost always place the phone on some kind of fabric (protective pouch) while on my desk or when i'm out.

Always, but I go another step forward and do that with a case on. My cases usually look like new after months of use. I never set my phone on anything that's not covered with cloth or something soft enough. I'm paranoid like that.

Ive always used a bumper case up until now, but it would interfere with the brilliant magsafe charging connector / dock, which i totally love.
Also my so keeps her phones unprotected rattling in her bag and pays basically no attention to keeping them nice / protected and they seem to survive fine, so i think phones are better these days (when they dont leap off tables)

I'm one that ALWAYS applies a full coverage TPU style case and a screen protector on my phones, immediately after unboxing them, in order to preserve their pristine condition for future resale value, as well as my own OCD tendencies. The good news, for people like me, is that there are already tempered glass screen protector options available for the phone (example). However, it's very clear that this phone was purposely designed with the intent that its users will not use a case. While I appreciate that the phone is more damage resistant with a titanium build and ceramic backing (rather than gorilla glass), it's still not truly damage proof. Because of this, I couldn't bring myself to use the phone without a case on a daily basis. So I'm already looking at how a full coverage case would work and I just don't see how it would be feasible.
The two reasons why a full coverage case wouldn't seem to work are:
1) The two docking pins in the back required for the accessories and the wireless charging dock. A worthwhile protective case would make this feature unusable.
2) The earpiece is pushed to the very top lip of the phone making it next to impossible for a full coverage case to protect the top edge without interfering with the ear piece.
I know the industry is pushing hard for a bezel-less future, but many people still want to protect their devices, especially after shelling out $700+, without losing out on advertised functionality. So now I'm curious to hear what other's think about this. I'm sure I'm not the first person to take this stuff into consideration.
I agree, I know the phone is made to be without a case but I always add a case to my devices. Not only does it help against any damage but it adds grip
Avoiding the ear piece would be trivial. Either leave the spot empty enough to hear or perforate the covering in that location. They could even incorporate something like what the lifeproof cases do and use a special fabric to cover the ear piece.
As far as the pogo pins. Depending on the thickness of the case and the actual distance needed to use the wireless USB they could just toss in some conductive extenders for the pogo pins, and make sure the case mimics the body design enough so that accessories fit. Oh and toss in a magnet to hold the accessory.n

I'm generally pretty picky about both having a case and what that case is like. I want it to be good quality, fairly thin and I prefer if it has a steel kickstand. Andy Rubin and company got so in love with the idea of creating a phone that "doesn't need a case" that they completely failed to work with phone case makers for the PH-1. Yes the PH-1 is built like a tank -- and they should have taken a page from LG's book and gotten it tested and MIL-STD-180G certified. It's lack of waterproof and MIL certification leaves you just hoping and praying that Andy Rubin knows what he's talking about when he says the PH-1 is super durable. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. The only way to know for sure is to break one on purpose and see how hard it was to do. Mine certainly feels sturdier than an LG-V20. And just like every other phone around today, it's slippery. Don't care if the PH-1 is a tad less slippery. It's slippery and it's dense and heavier that it looks. This makes the PH-1 and gravity great friends. Give me something to grip or I'm going to drop this thing hundreds of times in the next year. Don't care how durable your phone is, it's not going to hold up against that kind of abuse. And if I want a credit card sleeve or a kickstand, the religion of "doesn't need a case!" does nothing for me.
After a week mine already has a ton of little scratches so it definitely needs a case. . I baby the hell out of it too and its still scratched.
I'm using a sopiguard skin from amazon. i'ts pretty darn accurate in fitting and had no issues so far!

In the reddit ama they said they were working with case makers and posted one example. So presumably these will become available with time.
