Not sure on this way. Running Stable 4.2.2 Google Edition and had 0 problems until a few hours ago. Went out after dinner, tried to google a phone #, but had no data. Rebooted (just for kicks), and still nothing and no voice. Trying to make a call I get "Mobile network not available". I tested using my daughters G3 and worked perfect so I know it's not that.
So, I would like to try 1 of 2 options, open to either.
1. Revert to the stock 4.2.2 and wait till the 4.3 comes around
2. Upgrade to test a newer ROM. I am reading up on the MF9 but a little unsure, if I am running an MD9, can I simply flash a newer MF9 ROM onto what I have?
I don't want to brick this phone, so what's the best way to move forward and hopefully fix this issue.
Thanks

Thanks. Looking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303917 there are plenty, but as I said, I am still on the MDL ROM, so I would assume pick an MDL touchwiz, no?
Actually I have a blu-Kuban (touchwiz) nandroid, I restored to that backup, and had the same issue. No voice, and the PRL, etc. all failed to update. I am downloading the stock deoxed MDL, and will try a wipe/clean install of him.
Tnx again

I'm actually running Blu Kuban as well and I do not have this issue. Try turning the cell data toggle off and back on. Also, make sure you aren't in airplane mode. I have noticed that sometimes the toggle is on while the airplane symbol will not show in the status bar.

Thanks, but since I did try a restore, that would ensure airplane mode was not the case as I don't use it nor would I have 2 ROM's both doing the same thing. I did do a wipe/restore with no luck, so now going to do a wipe/flash. If still nothing, will have to resort to going to stock and taking it to a local sprint shop!
Thanks

if restore fails.. try ##786# > reset on stock rom. you need your SPC/MSL for this.
if the 786 reset fails.. let me know in about device > status if your phone number is still listed.. and what PRL is shown.

BAM. Worked like a charm. Naturally have all my spring bloatware and such, but I can at least make a call! Not sure how/why that happened, but it did re-activate fine, so looks like were back in business!
Thanks for all the read/replies!

I am not sure what is going on here. If anyone could help out, it would be much appreciated.
I am on stock AT&T Touchwiz. I was running the stock kernel and ktoonsez's 5/27 TW kernel with no problem. When I flashed ktoonsez's 5/30 TW kernel, I lost the ability to connect to wifi (when I try to turn the wifi slider to "on," it switches right back off). I cannot for the life of me get it to turn on.
I tried flashing back to the 5/27 kernel and I still can't get wifi to turn on. I also tried odin-ing back to stock, which has the same problem.
The odd thing is that I can still use wifi tethering, so I know the wifi can work. I just can't get the wifi settings to enable wifi anymore.
Just for fun, I flashed the AOKP rom and ktoonsez's 5/30 AOKP kernel, and wifi will work in that rom. I just can't get it to work in Touchwiz.
Any thoughts?
Make sure your baseband and build are the same, ex. baseband MDL, Build MDL.
If these 2 are different wifi will not enable.

Baseband and build are both the same: 1337UCUAMDL.
before you flash do a system wipe so you have a clean slate, then flash rom and kernel and see if that helps, also you may try resetting to default settings from within the os.

I wiped system and then odin-ed to stock and it still didn't work. I am not sure how much "cleaner" I could get it.
Hmm well, it seems like you did everything right, thats really strange.

Yeah. I would understand that wifi was totally dead if if didn't work in the AOKP rom, but it does, so I'm stumped. I may just go over to the AOKP rom since I don't really need the Touchwiz features anyway.
after you odin back to stock did you do a factory reset from within the OS?
1. Open Settings.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Select Back up and reset.
4. Tap Factory data reset.

Odd... My baseband is MDB and build is MDL. I thought baseband had nothing to do with kernels..

Oh ok... Maybe it was rom related and you probably needed a kernel to fix it (as it did for me).

I started having similar issues today with my WiFi.
Back story: I was playing around in ES Explorer trying to get WatchOn app to show in my app drawer and changed something that apparently shouldn't have and ended up sending my phone into boot loop. It also wouldn't recognize my SD card. After several faiked attempts due to my computer not recognizing my phone I was finally able to Odin to stock, re-root and restore from my Nandroid backup.
Which leads me to my problem. When I try to enable WiFi it just shuts back off and I get a security pop up saying, "Prevention Information - The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions and has stopped working. It is recommended that you reboot your device." And gives me an option to rabbit now or later.
After reading this thread I noticed that my baseband and build number were different and I will try doing a complete wipe and Odin to stock. Any other input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Maybe there is something wrong with the Kernel you are using. I don't know because I am on stock. However, the security message you are getting might be remedied by freezing "knox" and "SeAndoid". It probably wouldn't hurt for you to try it.

Just to update, I did a factory reset in CWM, reset davlik cache, factory reset from within setting and odin back to stock and wi-fi is working.
I'm about to re-root and not install the Nandroid backup and see if it's still working after that.
Final update.
I was able to get WiFi working again. Im not sure if doing this would help anyone else but this is what worked for me.
I did a wipe in CWM, cleared the cache and Odin back to stock. I then updated the software through the phone's setting menu. I tested WiFi before and after the update and it was working just fine.
Went ahead and rooted my phone again and WiFi was still working. Installed CWM again and tried the restore from my nan droid backup again and all is functioning normally.
On a side note, my 64GB SD card is working again also.

Need help with annoying on going problem with"Preparing Network Notification" in status bar on any TW Rom I flash for, It's been gping on for about a month now (MF9 or MJA) Always clean install/flash.
symptoms are:
NO Data on CDMA/LTE mode. Data will turn on in CDMA mode only.
Cannot "Update Profile" from Settings in any network mode, when I try to update profile I get a pop up that reads"session already in progress, please try again later"
Things I have tried to fix problem with no solution are:
wipe cahe/dalvik cahe after Rom boots up.
Fix permissions in recovery.
I used Odin to reset to stock MF9 -[ROM][ODIN]SPH-L720 MF9 (MF9 Modem/Kernel/Bootloader/ROM-Rooted) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486134
Called Sprint they did Dialer Code ##72786# to reset, it rebooted the phone, then it should have performed hands free activation***Hands free activation never came up.
So I'm stuck with 3G only, anytime I flash a new TW ROM.
The Funny thing is, If I restore my TW ROM Back-Up from Recovery or Flash PacMan(AOSP) everything works fine.
I appreciate the help.
I had the same problem last week. Ended up getting a replacement phone under warranty as Sprint said it's a phone problem. My MSID kept changing on its own.

Hi, just wondering if anyone has seen an issue like mine. I looked but did not find a thread or problem like what I am having right now. I have an original VS980, I was using TWRP 2.6.3.3 (the newest one) and tried to flash the new CM11 nightly and GAPPS, and it boot looped. I went back into TWRP using the vol down and power buttons, and installed a stock rom. Still boot looped. I restored a backup that I had actually restored and used before, of an earlier CM11 build, and that bootlooped too!!! So I have tried a couple of methods of restoring to stock firmware, and each time I am reaching the same point. The phone boots and the setup wizard starts. I click next, and the little activation window pops up, and just spins until the phone reboots. There is no signal showing during this.
I can get into download mode, and I can do factory resets. But I still can't get my phone activated, so I can't get into the stock ROM, to root or install TWRP again. Any ideas? Hopefully someone can help me by tomorrow, I am without a phone (I'll be fine lol).
Try doing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
And if/when you get it working, don't use TWRP 3.3, it's all kinds of FUBAR'd at the moment. If you use 3.2 you'll be just fine.

Yes, I tried this. When it boots, it just gets stuck at activation.
BUMP NEED HELP!!!
EDIT: More info, so maybe someone can see where I went wrong. I tried the WACOMalt method, and flashed VS98010B_13.tot to my phone. Someone in that thread mentioned that if you are on VS98011A then flashing VS98010B might not work. Then I tried a few times with a different restore method to flash a VS98011A stock image, and came to the same result, boots fine but does not activate and I cannot do anything with the phone.
gotta say twrp 2.6.3.3 is working fine here on d802 uk and has been for the last week or so ive flashed roms, restored from backups and all was fine -providng you've got the latest twrp or cwm youll have no problems
Sounds like you are zeroed. Check status for IMEI, ect. If good, you may need to "reactivate" online. If not, hope you backed up EFS, would be time to restore it. If both the latter fail, flash stock and go to Verizon.

Unfortunately no.
Edited ^ Our EFS isn't in a separate partition. A bad wipe can and will destroy it. EVERYONE should back this up after root, no matter what you're doing with the phone. And store it in a few places.

What do you mean "check status"? If you mean from system settings -> about phone, I cannot even get to that since I am stuck in setup wizard. I am planning on going to Verizon tomorrow, first thing in the morning. I have already flashed stock, so they will not see anything out of the ordinary. I am also bringing my HTC Rezound, in case I need to go back to that. Hopefully they can help me reactivate the G2 though...
There's a key combo to pass that. Go online on your account, switch theline over to the rezound, activate, back to the g2, try and let it go through activation. If it doesn't work, return. Sounds like your EFS is gone though.
Okay, I tried that. I can bypass the setup wizard by pressing vol up, then vol down, then back. I took my sim card out to do this. Under about phone, it shows unknown for emei and all the other settings. But I keep getting an issue, whenever I turn the screen off, it cannot turn back on and I have to reboot it. So, I think my EFS is messed up, but I have restored stock. I can get into the rom and look at about phone settings. But I am having issues with the screen turning off and not turning back on. And when that happens the phone reboots itself after a while.
I don't have my Rezound sim card on me right now to try activating it. I will just find it tonight and take everything to Verizon tomorrow. I'm sure they will help me out of this jam. Thanks for your help dude!
You are zeroed regardless, as you suspected, nothing to do but return. Back up that EFS next time! If you are stock, you'll be fine and get a "new" refurb. Someone will get your nice refurb when it's repaired. You're good.
OK to start off i am not a noob at this, i have read though the forms and cant seem to find out why my phone will not come out of this bootloop. This started happening 2 days ago when I went to install a new rom on my phone. I powered down my phone, put it in recovery (Twrp), I wiped everything but internal storage. I then processed to flash the new rom. Everything went great. My phone rebooted and worked fine for the first 1 min, when i tried to pull down the notification bar the phone stuck off and went into a bootloop. I then tried to go back to my old rom and had the same problem (notification bar would not pull down). So i went to plan B and used the Back To Stock Form to restore the phone back to stock. The process went smooth as well not a problem at all. When the phone started up it allowed me to set up the voice navigation and name of the phone, as i went to update the prl and profile the phone shut off again, when it turned back on it starts normally and the goes to the lock screen where i am unable to make any iterations with the screen at all besides when it turns the blacklight off, as i try to use the knock on the LED light turns white but the screen will not turn back on (not even with the power button). Then it reboots to the lockscreen again and continues to do it until i manually force it off. I have tried everything from redownloading the firmware files, tried back to stock 3 times, hard factory reset, and reset in recovery mode. My phone is back to stock but i am unable to do anything with it unless i factory reset and go though the set up again, but even then i cant get a connection (even with wifi) without the phone shutting off and rebooting. Everytime the phone reboots the time reads 12:00am and switches to 12:01 really quick. I cant get a connection at ALL (I EVEN TRIED REMOVING THE SIMS AND AND PUT IT BACK IN AFTER BACK TO STOCK PROCESS.)
Im not sure if the application Dr.Web could possibly be making my phone do this. I did have it installed and did not remove before I tried to switch to the new rom. The anti-theft part was active.
SOMEONE PLEASE BE MY HERO AND HELP........I REALLY WOULD HATE TO DEAL WITH LG ON THIS ISSUE IF I CAN FIX IT MYSELF

I did make a backup before flashing the rom. when i tried to go back to it i had the same problem with it rebooting after a few mins. i tried flashing furnace 0.0.8 kernel after installing a fresh rom but same problem. I am back on factory recovery atm is there anyway to flash twrp back to the phone without it being rooted? i tried to get the computer to communicate with the phone when it turns on but it wont seem to connect unless im in download mode or recovery.

I had the same problem except with me, i was just trying to change fonts manually. It went into a bootloop and i stressed dover it for hours until finally i found out that you have to use the lg mobile support tool (you can find it in one of these threads on the lg g2) and revert it back to stock. That fixed it perfectly fine. Its a lengthy process but simple. If that doesn't work you have to do what the lg mobile support tool does semi-manually with another program lg flash tool which is longer but just as simple if you follow the directions given in the thread to the letter.

they have coders there, I'm sure if they really want to know they can figure it out. If you send it in to get it fix out of your own pockets (meaning you pay them) then i'm sure they dont care, but if you want a replacement due to warranty then it may be a different story.

I eneded up restoreing my phone back to stock and took it into my local sprint store it cost ne 75 dollars to replace the phone not under warranty (if u have sprint protection its free) i told them i took and ota update and it started rebooting itself. If you do get a replacement make sure u back up your efs files to a safe place on your phone. Theses files can become corrupted by flashing roms and kernals.

Not under warranty? Doesn't it have a 1 year manufacturer warranty? The G2 wasn't released on Sprint until November last year so it should have been covered.

Yes its still under manufacturer warranty but when i made a repair order with lg it said it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get my phone back and if they found out it was due to being rooted and flashing roms im sure lg would of charged a arm a leg to repair it. With sprint i got a new phone in 2 days or ordering it.
Ever since I rooted my Verizon S5, I've had a strange issue..
It happens every time I flash a new ROM using Safestrap (of course.)
When I go in to settings and try to click or unclick a checkbox, it doesn't work. Or for instance if I change the GPS mode from Power Savings to High Accuracy, it doesn't change. It just stays with the previous one. But if I reboot, and go back to that setting, it will be changed. The same goes for if I'm trying to allow installations of unknown sources... I'll go in, click on the check box to allow unknown sources, but it won't come on. Then I'll reboot the phone, go back in and it will be checked on. If I go in to Safestrap and wipe Cache and Dalvik, it works just fine for a few minutes, but then goes back to not working.
Anyone having this issue or know of any fixes?? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've been using a custom ROM slot, I've tried to set it up in the stock slot but I can't seem to figure out how to wipe the stock slot. Is there a certain way to do that?
By the way, I flashed Optimal ROM as soon as you released it, best build yet! It's fantastic!!

You need to be using the stock slot. There are known issues with custom/rom slots. But yeah, you'd just wipe data/factory reset the same way. Then flash the ROM and firmware (if needed).
Glad you're enjoying the ROM!
