UPDATE: The problem seems to occur with some N7's if you did your initial upgrade from 4.2 to 4.3 by means of a flashable zip such as Scott's rooted stock 4.3.
The problem does not seem to occur if you took the update over the air, or if you flashed the official recovery image in full OR in part (as in just the system/boot images) using fastboot.
The solution is to flash the official update using flashboot. Post #20 has some info if you need help. Flash should work just as it did in 4.2 after you do this.
Adobe Flash should also work in future custom 4.3 ROMs you install down the road... whatever causes the issue gets fixed when you fastboot flash the image(s). I tested and confirmed this by flashing CleanROM (again) along with Adobe Flash - it worked after the fastboot image flashing, it didn't work before.
Cheers!
Original post below:
Firefox and Dolphin both crash on Flash content. I tried several different Adobe 11.1x Flash apks... no luck
Yes I know it's not *officially* supported, but it wasn't for 4.2 either but it worked great... is 4.3 now the end of the road for Flash, for real this time?
I might roll back to 4.22; I watch a lot of sports streams on this thing- unless there is another viable option (last time I tried Skyfire it was pretty lousy at handling video streams).
Edit: seems like this problem only occurs if you upgraded by flashing a custom ROM. Flashing the update via fastboot resolves it.

Version 11.1.115.11 always worked great for me on JB. Others had audio issues.
Not working on 4.3 and Naked Browser. Tried .47 (which worked fine before the upgrade) and the latest .69. Both crash on Rotten Tomatoes trailers. "Some" flash does work.

Which version of Flash are you running?
11.1.115.63
EDIT
I tested just now the browser with a streaming video
evidently the videos I've seen are in html5 and it works
I tried the flash and in fact does not work with 4.3 !!
sorry for the confusion
had the same issue, dolphin and next browser crash on embedded flash.
was running flash 11.1.115.69
uninstalled it and installed 11.1.115.63 and flash works without an issue so far in dolphin
embedded YouTube loads fine, well minor lag loading, but plays fine.
tried it on rotten tomatoes trailers too and works fine too.
next browser still crashes on any flash.

No luck here with .63 and Dolphin
Maybe something is wrong with my N7
I'm using Firefox Beta v23 and Flash v1.1.115.63 and can view flash videos. In Firefox settings, I have plugins set to tap to play. With a video box up, I tap the 'Tap here to activate plugin', touch it again and the video loads and I can play it.

yeah, same here, flash on demand cause I didn't want it to crash if there was flash content on a page. just turned it back to always on and still works, no crashes.

did you do a full uninstall of flash? force stop, clear data & cache before uninstalling?
I'm also using jetpack for dolphin, not sure if that helps or not.

Perhaps you skipped over the last two posts confirming that flash still works on 4.3 with Firefox Beta.
Something is definitely afoot with certain N7s
Mine will not work. I'm no n00b either, I've been doing this stuff for a long time.
I've tried every single flash apk and every single browser that supports flash.
I tried flashing the 4.3 CleanRom and the unmolested 4.3 ROM from Scott. Same result.
I tried using faux123's kernel.
I'm back on 4.2 now, but i'm gonna try another full wipe and flash the factory image.
My N7 is an early build 16gb model fwiw.
Same here, but I did get flash working on uc browser, but I didn't like the browser so uninstalled. Waiting for developers to catch up... unless Google is going out of their way to make sure flash isn't supported. Makes no sense since 75% of content I look add is flash only.
"Swyped" on my Nexus 7 via XDA app
I'm on stock 4.3, fastboot installed after wipe.
tested flash 11.1.115.63 on pretty much all the flash enabled browsers and Dolphin 10.0.1 & Firefox 22 (23 beta) are the only ones that works.
Dolphin by far the most stable one, was able to play all flash from various sites.
the worst site for flash is YouTube. both will play, but Firefox crashes on full screen. Dolphin runs youtube fine on YouTube's site, but trying full screen on embedded YouTube is a toss up.
Success!
Wiping/reflashing via fastboot did the trick, Flash is back! I have no idea what the issue was, it must have been some sort of conflict but whatever it was is gone now.
Thanks for the feedback
Flash is working with Firefox Beta on 4.3 for me.

Mine is a brand new custom Rom and Kernel flash (using TWRP). I did all 3 wipes (data, Dalvik & system) and rebuilt from scratch. Still crashes on .63.
What else should I do? Mine is a 32gb N7.

How did you upgrade to 4.3? Just by flashing a custom ROM (such as Scott's ROM)?
I'd recommend following these steps: http://anddisa.blogspot.de/2013/07/update-nexus-7-to-android-43-manually.html#gpluscomments
You'll need to have 1) fastboot & drivers setup on your computer (I recommend the universal naked driver) and you'll also need 2) that updated SuperSU file that is mentioned; google for it and put it on your /sdcard area of your N7.
Mine worked after doing that.

I think did something wrong. I followed this tutorial:
hmm I can't post the youtube link. If you go to google and type in How to Install CyanogenMod 7 on the Nook Color and click on the first link you'll find it.
When I got to the part where it says to format the data, I got an error message. Then when it said to install zip from sd card, I got an error saying can't mount sd card. So I went back to wipe data/factory reset and did that. After that I took the sd card out and did reboot system now. But now it won't go beyond the screen with the N on it. What do I do now? At this point I just want to put it back to it's original state. Please help. I'm afraid I broke it. And I'm sorry if I sound like a noob.
I tried installing the latest version of CM7 nightly. By using a different method and memory card. I followed the guide here:
[ROM][CM7] [v1.3] Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards.
I installed the image file on the memory card. Took it out then put it back in like it said to. But now my computer can't find the memory card. In other words the card won't show up on my computer anymore. What happened? I'm so disgusted right now
Deep breath. OK? Happens to us all.
I'd suggest you start from the beginning. Format your uSD using this in your computer and not your NC. Often errors start with a bad format.
I'm using CM7 7.0 as it seems the most stable for me. It's often best to used signed versions as those are reported to be the most stable. Get it here
Create a good bootable disk with that has CWM ( http://androidforums.com/nookcolor-...workmod-version-3-2-0-1-recovery-sd-card.html), WinImage is fluky so I'd suggest this copy your CM7 ROM to it (on your computer), boot doing either a factory reset or wipe cache and dalvik. You can wipe data is you want but will have to reinstall all your programs if you do.
Keep in mind that often the first boot up after ROM install might take a few minutes. You might have to even hard reboot. It happens.
Again, most problems start with a wonky formatted uSD and just multiply from there.
Thank you very much! I got it working. Now I just need to know a few more things. Where can I download the latest google apps pack and overclock kernal for my nook? And can I still access the barnes & noble bookstore? If so how?

Okay I just downloaded the latest version of the android market. And now when I try to download adobe flash player 10.3, I get a message that says your device is not compatible with this item. So now what?
If you have CyanogenMod 7 take a look at their Site maybe someone else had the same problem and knows what to do.
They have a very good forum and i'm sure you will find a fix there.

Well when I go to YouTube and tap on a video, first it says loading video then I get a message saying Cannot play video sorry this video cannot be played. It's the same thing when I use the YouTube app. I have the latest version of adobe flash player installed because megavideo works.
Alright I tried uninstalling the YouTube apk and reinstalling it again. That didn't work. I tried doing the wipe data thing with titanium backup. That didn't work. I tried downloading the EVO HD YouTube app. That didn't even start up. I made sure that I was not signed in to YouTube. That didn't work. I'm about ready to give up.
Well guys I finally did it. I got YouTube working. I had to completely uninstall everything and install the latest cm encore nightly release. Everything seems to be working now.

Sorry for noobing. I've seen the thread on installing flash for 4.1.1
I follow all the steps but when u use the stock chrome on the nexus 7 in settings there isn't an option to enable plug ins..
Sorry if this has been asked but I couldn't find it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chrome wont work with flash. You need to use Stock browser of Firefox Beta.
Thanks, I've been d/l the flash file directly onto my tablet and no luck. I'll try putting it on PC then transfer , see if that works. Couldn't get it to work with firefox b4.
I had to try couple different flash player apk's to get mine to work on Firefox beta. Try this one
http://db.tt/9p4cZLZx
Worked for me thanks.

Yep, got it to work guys, thanks!
Oh think it was cus I was d/ling straight from n7
I transfered the file from my PC and used appinstaller to installed and worked like a charm on beta. Oh I also use Flashify. Let's u surf with chrome then if on a page with flash it opens that page in firefox beta. Pretty neat. Just can't wait till flash is gone. Soo much simpler
+1 on Flashify. Nice to switch browsers easily if chrome won't display the page properly.
Hello, Im new to this and was able to root my TF101 build .27 with oneclickrecovery V0.4, which installed SUPERUSER v3.0.7
Wanted to install the EOS 4 JB because I read this is very Fast and Stable. This is what is important to me, hence the root.
Now how do I use this and install the ROM?
Is there a youtube or link that someone can direct me to?
Have a look here:

You will need to update to TWRP 2.3.2.3 (highly recommended) via GooManager
THank you for the link. I tried to install easyflasher but I think when I installed oneclickrecovery, it installed Rogue XM Team which I think is my flasher (instead of easyflasher)..when I rebooted with VOL_DN & PWR, then VOL-UP, it went to Rogue XM Team instead of easyflasher.
So can I just download the ROM into my SD Card and use the menu from the Rogue "install from .zip file"?
Is this the method?
I know Im half way there but need guidence for finish the rest. thanks for your help.

I'll alleviate some of your confusion lol, Rouge XM etc are recoveries (that are accessed via holding vol down and power) Easyflasher is a program that runs off your pc and allows you to install a recovery (like Rouge, TWRP or CWM). Easyflasher also works as an unbrick tool (if you do something wrong and mess up your tf101 easyflasher will restore it back to stock)
When using a recovery you need to place the rom on your sd card (some recoveries will only allow flashing from internal or external sd card's not both, but in the case of rouge it access both) then wipe the device (this will get rid of data etc, so if your going to make a back up this is the time) and then wipe everything except for battery stats (it isnt necessary to wipe everything but im not using the same recovery so i cant remember what the options say on rouge so just wipe everything for now) then flash the rom with "install for .zip"(and anything that goes with it i.e gapps or another kernel----- depends on the rom your using) and then just to be safe wipe the devlik cache again and reboot.

I would STRONGLY suggest switching to TWRP. Rogue will work for now, but if you flash updates to this ROM, the new file structure for 4.2 will cause your /sdcard/ to end up in the /sdcard/0/ directory, and after another flash it will be /sdcard/0/0/. You can move the files, but IMO TWRP is much better anyway (it can flash from internal and external storage).
You can install GooManager and choose to install open recoveryscript from the menu, or you can use the dd command and a terminal emulator to install TWRP:
First, download the twrp blob from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/tf101
Rename the 2.3.2.3 blob to TWRP.blob
Method 1
Open a terminal emulator.
Code:
$ [B]su[/B]
# [B]dd if=/sdcard/TWRP.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4[/B]
# [B]reboot[/B]
It is important to just do a reboot, if you reboot to recovery immediately it WILL NOT update the recovery. Upon reboot, you should see a progress indicator at the Eee Pad screen. Feel free to reboot to recovery after this (even before it boots).
I strongly recommend reading the post by Fredurco in the link he provided. As a matter of fact, read the first three posts. These are the most detailed instructions for any ROM I've ever seen and believe me, I've seen more than a few. Take your time and just follow those directions to the letter and you will be fine.

I agree! EOS 4 IMO is the most usable and stable 4.2 build. My biggest complaint with the CM10.1 build was the touchpad disable was not working. It is still a great ROM otherwise and pretty stable.
As far as 4.1 ROMs, EOS 3 is solid, and so is the CM10/PananoidAndroid hybrid.
I am definitely itching for some cornerstone love!
I use liquidsmooth currently, and it's my new favorite, since everything works. I haven't found or noticed any bugs, which is rare.
EOS4 is also good, but I just don't like the feel of it oddly. Very well built and worth a shot though.
Hi Fred! Dug my TF101 out of moth balls and put on EOS4.
Had some trouble with the drivers, So I ended up using 1 from column A, 2 from column B:silly:
end result, got my drivers, APX mode going, (cross between oneclickrecovery, easyflash, nvFlash, Universal Naked Drivers),
Finally got twrp on and flashed superuser
got twrp-goo manager to update it, Flashed EOS4- saw updated recovery did not stick, finished the flash, updated twrp again, reflashed eos4- saw twrp update did stick this time, and now get to play with the TF 101 all over again!
Everything old is new again!
Thanks Fred! Your post on the TF forum was great, and XDA supplemented what wasn't working for me!! Great teamwork:victory:
Thanks to Fred's excellent tuts, I was able to easily get TWRP installed and rooted (although it did kill my WiFi somehow, which I'm hoping will be solved with a different ROM), but have a dilemma:
Not to hijack (didn't see the point of starting a new thread about the same thing, but I will if you guys want me to) but which ROM will give the best video performance? I'm not trying to do 1080 stuff or anything naive like that, but I would at least like to be able to watch some of the lower quality 720p stuff (NPW's releases are very good) without stuttering or syncing issues.
Note: I'm not trying to do everything with this tablet and overall I'm VERY satisfied with the overall performance and wouldn't even be tinkering with it at all (I've had it for over a year on stock ICS) if I didn't travel a lot and use it to watch movies on the go. I only use this tablet for gaming, surfing, movies and lots of document viewing (PDF, MSOffice, etc). I don't care about GPS or the camera. I have a phone for that. However, I don't have the time or means to be constantly reflashing this thing because WiFi drops out every 30 minutes or something like that.
Basically, I'm looking for the ROM with the best combo of:
- Stability
- Respectable HD-ish video playback
I'm not a total Android noob. I spent many hours tinkering with my old Nook Color back in the day, so no worries there. I'm just looking for reliable video playback on the go. I've been looking at Android Revolution HD to preserve the ASUS File Manager and things like that, but really haven't seen anything definitive about video playback improvements. I'm open to moving up to JB, but its not a burning desire or anything.
Thanks!

I guess I am not sure what is causing your WiFi stability issues. I have no problems with the EOS 4 ROM and WiFi. It never drops out on me. It is perfectly stable, and I can play 720p H264 23.94 FPS mkv files with no issues using MX player.
Before I ran EOS 4, I was running the ParanoidAndroid/CM10 Hybrid ROM and it was just as stable and fast.
If you are having WiFi issues, did you do all the wipes (Cache, Davlik, System, Factory Reset) before flashing the ROM? If not, then that is probably where the WiFi issue is (settings from your previous ICS ROM still present on the data partition).
Disregard the bit about the WiFi. I disconnected and reconnected to my network and all is well.
It sounds like EOS4 is the only ROM that is still consistently updated. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.
Thanks!

EOS4 and the CM10.1 No-Name are the only ones getting regular updates.
Thanks for the quick responses. EOS 4 is installed and process of redownloading all my apps. Now I just need to test out some video. I'm testing it without the OC kernel first, just for fun.
If you wanna see more in-depth which rom is better, I recommend a little app called Antutu benchmark, it'll give your current setup a score depending on how fast it does things like 3d renderind, sd card reading and battery performance
I might be in the minority with this opinion, but after some tinkering I'm not all that convinced that EOS is any faster than the stock ROM from a general usability standpoint (even with the latest KAT kernel), but the video is definitely improved, so I'll keep it as my "daily driver".
Thanks for the help, guys!
I was stock 4.3 rooted, unlocked, with TWRP installed running the LTE Enabler and a hybrid radio, I used a flashable .zip to upgrade to stock 4.4 the other day, all is well and I'm still Unlocked, and rooted, and still have LTE, but I wanted to try one of the newer .97 hybrid radios but when I reboot to TWRP and try to flash a new radio it fails everytime, I've re-downloaded, tried a different radio etc...
Says E: Unable to open zip file.
Error flashing zip....
I tried changing over to Clockwork mod to try it there, but it won't install clockwork....I even used Wug's Tool kit to reinstall the stock bootloader, then load Clockwork, but it wouldn't work, so I had to put TWRP back on, which is does fine.
Anyone have any suggestions? Should I go back to 4.3 and try to sideloade 4.4 again through a different method?
Thanks,

There are hybrid .97 radios but they have been causing some issues for people

well, I was actually going to try severl radios to see if anything worked any better, specifically the .27/.84 hybrids as opposed to the .33/.84 hybrid I'm running now, but yes they do have some .27/.97 and 3.33/.97 hybrids out there as well.
it won't flash any of them right now.

Thanks,
Justin

bootloader has nothing to do with loading up anything 4.4 at this time first off. Secondly have you tried to simply open the zip file to make sure its not corrupt. Also have you tried to download other zips to make sure that it is not a problem with your browser or anything else. How much trouble shooting have you done with the file in general?

well, I'm not sure what the difference was, but I downloaded the same radio from the same website multiply times from my phone and it would never worked....downloaded it to my desk top and moved it over (after verifying it wasn't corrupt) and it worked like a champ.
Thanks!

exactly from your phone and it also depends on what browser you use. You have to fully trouble shoot... Downloading from the phones browser has been know to cause issues like that. I use Next Browser and have very little issues at all

I had a similar problem with the browser issue on my desktop. When I installed the first factory image onto my phone it soft bricked it. I later discovered that Internet Explorer could not download the image onto my desktop computer without corrupting it. So I tried Firefox and upon examination of the downloaded file I could see it was a different size; installation then went smoothly.

I actually I have 3 browsers on my desktop. IE, Firefox and Chrome. I find that many times, depending on the page I am going, one browser out of the three will not work properly for various reasons, so I have to try one of the other two. My first web browser was Mosaic, then Netscape, etc., etc.
I just wanted to share this with other owners of the TF300T.
When I was looking for a smooth, fast ROM for my TF300T I had to go thru a few different ones until I found a good one. Well, I found a perfect one!
KatKiss Lollipop ROM !!!
If you have a TF300T, then you gotta try this one!
It runs sooo smooth and fast. It has it's own performance settings so I adjusted to 1500 as the max and it works incredibly well! And of course the Lollipop features are a definite plus!
It's like breathing new life into this transformer pad!
Many of the ROMs only partially work well with the keyboard dock. But with this ROM, it all works!!! Even the pause/play and forward and back buttons works!
So, thank you to timduru and his KatKiss team!
They do such a great job on putting out a quality ROM!
Loochie
Indeed it is an excellent ROM, works smoothly
I dont think the HDMI output works unfortunately. I tried watching a movie on a tv, but it wouldnt read the input, and its the same cable and tv i had success with when using CM10, but otherwise wonderful ROM
Totally agree with you!
I like this ROM too. The only problem I found is that this ROM doesn't support F2FS on /system and /cache partition. It only support F2FS on /data partition. The ROM description doesn't mention this part clearly. I painfully figured it out by myself. T_T
i tried this rom today, pretty good and i appreciate timduru's efforts but it lagged and was slower than slimkat (unofficial) rom. while i prefer lollipop, kitkat still runs faster and because this tablet's hardware is too slow, it runs lollipop really laggy.

you can't format system and cache as f2fs in the first place anyway

so the recovery is what we use to change file system of the partition?
a very long time ago i used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625580 and it supports only /data
can you tel me what steps i need to do to convert /system and /cache to f2fs too? also does my favorite rom (slimkat unofficial) supports it?
or does any rom support it?

Here is the video instruction:
https://youtu.be/obwJCFzlh4w
I found KatKiss ROM only support /data F2FS format. If I change /system or /cache into F2FS, then the tablet will not boot.
027 clean install works great
Couldn't agree more with Loochmiester!
I've got the latest ver (027) running w/ dock and it is literally a new tablet now...absolutely no lag! The best part for me is that webpages load quickly! They can be scrolled while loading without hanging up, they load faster, and I don't have the app asking to close because it's taking too long. This used to drive me nuts!
I did have to install #nochromo because the default browser seems to loose the rolling scroll feature on tabs that open from links within another tab. i.e. it only scrolls while your finger is on the screen.
Since some people seem to be having issues w this rom, I'll say that I installed it thru twrp along with gapps-KatKiss-5.1_TF300T_20150601 and gapps-GoogleLauncher_20141122. I used no backup restoration of apps.
one issue I have is that wifi stops working after tablet is in sleep mode for a while; dk how exactly long. just cycle wifi and it's good again.
Any chance you have ASUS apps and Dayscene live wallpaper working with this?
I tried a few Kitkats but was not able to get the live wallpaper to work. Hence reverted to Chromi-X 5.4.
Such a small showstopper though but Dayscene is so excellent
I bought my TF300T second hand and instantly installed CM as i didn't want to stick on android 4, it felt slow but i thought it was the tablets fault. After i installed KatKiss the change was really big, it booted way faster and the speed in general was way higher. Yesterday I installed the marshmallow version of katkiss and i think it's even faster than the lollipop one! Be careful though, as of version 0.005b the camera and bluetooth don't work. In his changelog Timduru says that the camera will be fixed on the next update though. I'm so looking forward to it!
I'm evaluating to put a ROM on my TF300T and I see nice talk about this katkiss, but it seems to also have some issues that I prefer to not have.
Will I get some improvements in putting Cyanogenmod 12 on my tablet, is it worth it?
Cyanogenmod is that much slow compared to katkiss?
It works great

I always use the HDMI output since i have this tablet and i installed on the first day katkiss 5.1.1
I've been running KatKiss KahshMallow #009 for 3 days now an I'm very impressed.
I just followed the instructions in th OP even formatted data to f2fs.
Everything I use works great, Bluetooth, wireless, USB, sd, microSD, camera front and back, keyboard/dock. even goes to sleep with out draining the battery.
I use BSplayer a lot an hotspot into my phone for internet as I work FIFO
Haven't tried hdmi as I dont have a cable yet.
I came from CM 12 and that was great too besides battery drain while sleeping I never fixed.
Big thanks to Timduru an crew

I have had issues trying to install anything later than 2.8.0.0 TWRP. How did you get it installed?
I'm running the next version (katKiss Marshmallow)...it's a great ROM, however, I'm having some serious interference between the Bluetooth and WiFi...
I've never had this before...but now, when I try to stream a video from the Dish Sling...or Netflix, I get constant buffering, because the Wifi is blocked by the Bluetooth.
Anybody else experience this?
Is there a way to update the drivers?

I had a heck of a time updating TWRP as well...I think the ROM I was on (I forget what it was) was really falling apart...I couldn't open a terminal, or do anything to get TWRP updated...I finally was able to install SSH, and then I did the following...
Put the latest TWRP Blob file on my SD card using file explorer
SSH into the tablet
Used the dd method to move the Blob to the staging block of the tablet.
Reboot (tablet updates the recovery partition from the staging area, then boots).
Then reboot into recovery. Fixed!
I am trying to do this upgrade, but keep getting an error when pressing RCK on my tablet. I have unrooted the device an loaded twrp.blob on it as well, but it keeps coming up with an error when trying to install the "System update". Any help is appreciated.

I had to use adb to flash TWRP and then reboot into recovery and flash the ROM and GAPPS If you go on the TWRP page, they will give you the adb instructions to get it on your tablet.
Been using KatKiss for a while. OEM OS was slow and unstable and the more you used it the
slower it got. Tried CM12, but it drained the battery while the tablet was asleep and it didn't
improve the performance. KatKiss seems stable and is fast. No complaints here.
