[Q] Why there are less mods for i9500?? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it because of the different quad-cores?? Will i9500 ever get miui??

It's something like that. Exynos isn't as open as Qualcomm is and Samsung (AFAIK) has no intentions of releasing the sources/documentation that the devs need to make fully functional custom ROMs.

Thanks for replying.
So that means we won't be able to rum miui on i9500??

I want to port s4 to s3.
Isn't that development?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
But this is really just a question....
Do you have it?

The S4 kernel would prove useful. If someone know someone who could leak it, it would be awesome.

You don't port kernels...you port the actual software aka touchwiz -the frameworks, the apps
The kernel is just instructions for the actual hardware. Tells how to boot, how to clock the processor etc. There is no point in porting the s4 kernel to an s3...drivers will be different and half the stuff the s4 kernel supports aren't supported by the s3 at a hardware level.

I know. I don't want to port the kernel, I want to modify it so it will work with s3.
The s4 rom is done by someone else.

Do you know what porting is??? Porting is modifying something so it will work on another device
There is no point in modifying the sgs4 kernel to work on the sgs3 or any other phone. You can ask any experienced dev and they will tell you the same thing...
Please enlighten me as to why you want make an s4 kernel work on the s3? What benefits will it give you? What are its advantages? -if you ask me nothing...but let's see if you know something I dont as I'm always up for learning something new

Lol you don't need to make the s4 kernel work for the s3, you just need it so you can make proper edits to the ramdisk to get it to boot
At least that based on the research I've done on how to port sense to a non sense device...which should theoretically be pretty much the same for all manufacturer os/ui ports to a different manufacturer phone
Anyways...you probably won't be seeing any sgs4 kernels until actual release...

Available for download at www.Samsung-updates.com . After selecting the desired firmware you can choose to download the whole rom or just the kernel.

Yes and wrong section.
Well is it achievable? or do I have to guess?
It's achievable... Take a look in the original android development forum and there are kernels in there that allow u to OC...
I've got my s4 running up to 2.3ghz and it's reliable on mine but yours might be so stable..

To what end? It seems that these days people are treating android phones as pc rigs... Overclocking for the sake of simply doing so

I tried flashing that kernel and strange things started happening. The device started looping st the initial logo on boot. So I had to flash my rom again.
Any ideas?

CAllING DEV TEAMS !!

As we now have a working cm10.1.
Would it be possible for someone to port Sailfish OS or Ubuntu touch to i9505 jfltexx ?
Please like this post if your not a developer and this would be beneficial to you.
Thread bump
Please show support. No-one develops if there is no need for it in the community.
I'm sure the devs want to have an unlocked bootloader.
