[Q] connect nexus 4 to TV using USB - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i'm using CM 10.1 and i'm trying to connect my phone to my TV using USB in order to see my media on it.
Is it possible nexus 4 with CM? or is it my TV?
i checked the android debugging in the developer options. Did i miss something else?

Slimport.

And besides slimport?

There is Miracast Wireless Display but you have to buy the box itself for the TV which is around £50 and £100 so I would stick with Slimport which costs around £28 in total.

I think your missing his point here.
He means his tv has a USB port which you can say plug a hard drive in & watch content stored on it.
My old tv had this functionality however it's not possible to do this with the nexus 4 as the storage is not mounted as a USB storage device.
Meaning the only way you can do what you ask is via a slimport adapter to use your phone as an HDMI input on your tv

may be wrong but I remember reading somewhere that some newer Samsung TVs support MTP.

Video Out.

Hey everyone!
My Nexus 7 will be here Wednesday (YAY!)
And I just read that the USB port isn't MHL
Without buying the Nexus Q (All I have in the country is my 4g tether) how can I use an external monitor on my new tablet?
I noticed that there are 4 pogo pins on the nexus 7 vs the 3 on the galaxy nexus. Is there video out on these? Also my M18x has something called WI-HD that allows me to wirelessly transmit my monitor signal to a reciever connected to my tv. Is there any way my new tab can do something similar? I suppose I can just use my galaxy nexus for my Play TV shows but I was kind of looking forward to playing games on the big screen.
Thanks!
Bump. any suggestions guys?
There is no cable solution... chances are there will be a software WiFi Direct solution, but not yet.
Thanks for the info.

[Q] Nexus 4 TV Out

Hi guys,
I recently bought a google nexus 4 running android 4.2.1 stock.
I have been trying to connect it to my tv using a HML adapter however when i connect it all up and set the tv to the appropriate setting (HDMI 1)
the screen just remains blank and there is no sound.
I have been unable to find a tv out option anywhere in settings, and i am wondering if it should just work when connected automatically or is there a setting somewhere i have been unable to find?
Thanks for the help!
The nexus 4 does not have a MHL chip in it. You will have to get a miracast wireless display adapter or slimport cable

I was wondering if the TV has to be full hd or just hdready?

USB Drive?

Hi,
Is it possible to use my USB/Pen drive with the nexus somehow? An adaptor or something? Samsung has this in Galaxy Tab so I assume there must be something for large phones too?
Thanks
The Nexus 4 does not support USB OTG, unfortunately.

Viewing Nexus 7 on tv

Other than a micro USB to hdmi cable, is there anything else I need to view my Nexus 7 content on my TV?
Will any micro usb / hdmi cable work?
Any inexpensive cable suggestions?
A far as I know, there is no way to get HDMI output from a 2012 nexus 7. The 2013 is better, but you need a slimport adapter.

Google's Chromecast dongle may be a good alternative.

It doesn't need to be hdmi.
How can I display Nexus 7 videos on a TV set. My TV has multiple inputs including usb, hdmi, etc. I connected with USB cable but that only allowed me to see still images.
I have both 2013 and 2012 Nexus 7s.

Yup u need the one designated for the s4. I sent u that link as an example of what they are. Personally I would get it from samsung. I've bought 3 that said they work with s4 and they didnt. I have a friend who got the one from Samsung and his works fine.

a lot of them DO work with the S4 still that are "older" mhl adapters, but you also need the 5 to 11 pin adapter for those to work like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0089...qid=1388224095&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
Otherwise, just get one line what was noted a couple of posts up, as it's already utilizing the 11pins and saves you the trouble. (make sure you're getting a legit one & check the reviews!)
Alternately, you can get the allshare cast hub (by Samsung) which also mirrors via hdmi.
It is also possible without an mhl dongle or allshare cast hub to push things (pics, movies & youtube) directly if you have tv/home theater/blu ray that's dlna enabled to push to.
I've done it from the older mhl w/ 11 pin adapter, newer 11 pin, allshare hub & by dlna enabled device without issue. I mainly use the latter nowawdays, but still use the other methods on occasion because of the screen mirroring.
As a side note, both mhl adapters are OEM.
Its sad I didn't know this thing had HDMI out capabilities
