I updated my nexus 4 to 4.3 and now the nexus root toolkit can't root it ........ so i'm trying to downgrade to 4.2.2 to root
or, if possible root the 4.3 android ..... any ideas ?
In the Nexus 4 Toolkit, follow the instructions to install TWRP, then download chainfire's SU binary for the nexus 4 and flash it. Bam! You're rooted.

Lots of ideas... Don't rely on a toolkit to start with. Second, employ some intrepid googling with queries like "root android 4.3".
Chainfire has a version of supersu that will work for 4.3, easily installed via custom recovery like TWRP. No need to go back to 4.2.2.

Will this operation wipe your data?
Rooting won't wipe your data. (Assuming you already have an unlocked bootloader)

No I don't. I locked the bootloader with bootlocker since I didn't install custom ROM's jet.
Bootloader is now automatically locked because root is gone.

First of all, do you have a custom recovery like TWRP or CMW? Or do you have the stock recovery?

There are many threads that are dedicated to rooting, have you even looked?

I had to manually use adb to push the 3.34 boot loader.... this is the link and directions I followed' worked like a charm. http://exzacklyright.blogspot.com/2012/07/nexus-7-guide-for-adbunlocking-rooting.html

I noticed the threads arecurrently only for 4.1, is it possible to root 4.2 yet?
Of course 4.2 is root able. There are threads outlining this.

I've used wug kit to root 4.2
just like any other nexus or android version before 4.2.. fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flash a custom recovery, flash either the su binaries or a custom rom in your recovery, reboot.
didnt notice that the nexus 4 toolkit did not work after the 4.2.2 update so whats my next best option?
Unlock bootloader in fastboot, fastboot flash your recovery then flash an SU zip then your rooted

Hi Guys, I want to root my nexus 4 running 4.3 but I have heard it is not as easy to do since the update, any help please.
P.S: this will be my first attempt at rooting. :fingers-crossed:
I would be interested in knowing how to too.
Background info: I was rooted before this latest update, so my bootloader is still unlocked. Are there any one click method that can work with 4.3?

I used both toolkits that are stickied in the Orig Dev thread to root 4.3. Was extremely simple.

You can also use ClockworkMod's superuser program instead, if you prefer. It has worked flawlessly for me on 4.3.
The 4.3 permission issues have been resolved in both programs (although in different ways).
For superuser go here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.superuser&hl=en
Click on "Read More".
Click on the url link for Manual installation with the recovery zip (Recommended if you are having installation issues or are not rooted), and download the file.
Flash recovery in fastboot and then flash superuser in recovery.
Rooting 4.3 is identical to rooting 4.2 (or any other version really) with the exception of requiring an updated su application. The only difference is the implementation, which you as the end user shouldn't have to worry about as long as it's working okay.
