HTC Incredible vs Droid Bionic - Droid Incredible General

I'm referring to the original HTC Dinc, versus the Droid Bionic. Any reason to get one or the other? Since these two phones can be had for cheap, I was thinking about buying the Bionic as my main phone, and having the Dinc around as a backup.

Just got a few Bionics for my wife and myself. I got Mine 1st to ensure I could get it on Page Plus.
The Dinc is hamstrung by smaller memory, less processor, less storage, older Android, 3G vs 4G LTE. (512MB vs. 1GB, single core vs. dual, 8GB vs. 16GB, Gingerbread vs. Jelly Bean.)
The Bionic comes w/ GB but has a path to JB. It also has a path to GSM if you like.
I move from a DX2 and my wife hates her Dinc...weak reception on calls.
Hope this helps.

...I definitely hope so! I would love to get my hands on a 3G version of the Droid 2! (although getting an 8MP cam + 720p recording on top of that would be great too =P)
I wouldn't hold my breath though, probably have to wait a month or two before we start seeing anything.
The Droid 2 is a cdma phone meaning its not compatible anywhere but with Verizon in America. You will have to wait for a gsm spec phone to come out ie Milestone

Well the Droid 2 WE just got leaked over at boygeniusreport.com (http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010...tablet-all-found-in-verizon-wireless-systems/)
...along with a Droid Pro which supposedly has a 1.3GHz proc. supposedly launching in November.
....but this could be a HTC built snap-dragon device instead of a Motorola built ARM-Cortex device. If that's the case - I'd go for the Droid 2 as opposed to the Pro. If the Droid 1 is anything to go by, the ARM-Cortex is more stable for OCing

[Q] T-Mobile is giving me an advanced upgrade... not sure what to do.

Since T-Mobile is now charging me for text messages to Canada... I called and complained. Got a hell of a deal. A $5 a month plan with a $50 credit (10 months free), and an early upgrade even though I'm only 10 months in my contract.
I can get a MyTouch4G or G2 for $200. Which one should I get-- or should I wait for something better in the next month or so? I qualify for the instant discounts. I can't get the mail in rebates.
I'm leaning towards the G2 for the hardware keyboard (really miss that from my G1/Cliq) and for the MT4G, the front facing camera. Although I can't see myself using it very often....
Owners of the G2: Is the notification light multi colored? Can I use different colors for different notifications like the trackball?
Owners of both: How's CM7 running on it?
What are the advantages/disadvantages between the two?
This is the nexus one category so your question is kinda off topic here. Now to answer your question if I was to choose a phone from the mytouch4g and the g2 I would rather get the g2. Now my advice to you I would wait for Q2 meaing like march to may since duo core phones are just around the corner so why pay 200 on something thats gonna catch dust in 5 months just be patient for now. unless t-mobile is rushing you.
MyTouch 4G:
764MB ram, 4GB onboard storage, 1GHz processor, mysense skin, front facing camera.
G2:
512MB ram, 4GB onboard storage, 800MHz processor, "stock" android, keyboard.
Personally I like the mytouch 4g for the ffc. Both phones are wicked fast and faster than the nexus one. In my ideal world, the G2 should have included the mytouch specs, ffc, and mysense.
My gf had a G2. Nice handset. The notification light is one color as far as I can tell..just a cool blueish white ring around the touch pad.
I'd prefer a MT4G myself, buy that's only because I'm so used to typing on a screen after the N1..though I abhor that genius button..so tacky!

Hmm. Thanks. I guess if I had a choice I'd go with the G2... just like it better for some reason..
eitherway my dad still has a non 3.5mm MT3G so i'm just going to let him use my "upgrade" on the MyTouch 4G he wanted and I'll take his in June. I don't see that big of a jump from the N1. I can wait.
The HTC Vision is an upgraded Nexus One with a keyboard and the second iteration of Snapdragon: less mHz, at least as much power, and a better GPU circuit. You wouldn't lose anything. And if you root it (to kingdom come) and put CM6 or CM7, it's going to be as good as a N1 - latest CM7 even has the wake-from-"trackball". The only other difference? Heavier.
Also, rooted/modded/CM7'd three Vision's in the last two weeks. Everybody's happy for now.

[Q] An alternative to the Nexus 4

So I'm planning on getting a new phone soon, and the price of the Nexus 4 is already pushing it. I was on kogan and I came across a HTC One X for $399.
Same screen size, same resolution, more space. It doesn't have the S4 Quadcore though, it's tegra 3.
Is there something I'm missing? Or should I maybe go for this? I don't know how long I'd have to wait for the Nexus 4 to come back in stock and my current phone (Nokia N8) is dying..
(I'm aware the One X is currently sold out, but I'm fairly sure it'll come back in stock soon)
? people are reporting that they've been buying N4 just a couple days ago and received it already even though it says it will be shipped in 6-7 weeks. you can check this in the other shipping threads in general

But I never ordered one. Check the play store website, in Australia at least, it still says sold out.
So is the One X a decent alternative?

Not if you want aosp.. or pure google experience.. + the one x is getting outdated now.
Buy a Nexus S for $50 and a $200 set of headphones. One option.

Oh you're in Australia. Nevermind, thought you were in N.A. or Europe.
One x is a great phone mate.
Been using one while my patience waiting for a n4 slowly dissolves. Get it.
Then wait for Nexus 5.

You should put the Galaxy S3 (international) in your consider list. There are a few things going for it compared to the N4, including: microSD, USB OTG, MHL, Wolfson DAC (audio quality), and base on what I've seen so far: better front and rear camera and better speaker. With that said I've been reading many people having the S3 died instantly on them for no reason.

I was considering a GS3, but it's $200 more than the N4 and $400 is already too much for me, haha.
I want a high end phone with a big screen though, and I've completely filled my current 16GB phone so the 32GB One X seemed good.

There's always custom roms isn't there? And how is it outdated? Quad Core tegra 3 is above anything else at this price range, right? (Besides N4 of course)
Coming from a one x they are a great phone, good dev support etc. I just got bored of HTC sense it got bloated and horrible for me. If you don't want to wait for a N4 a one x is a good option
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Couldn't I flash it with a vanilla ICS though? I don't really want all that sense bull****.
Of course but IMHO HTC devices rely heavily on Sense.
Camera performance will suck on AOSP.
I say get the Galaxy Nexus & save yourself the trouble.
Sent from my HTC EVO LTE
Eh, I'd rather the quad core and more space..
There's no way to have decent camera quality without sense?
I don't use the camera that much, but it's still nice to have..
Sense is ok and the camera app is amazing. Great outdoor viewing especially when using camera. You can actually see what you're shooting I've been using since April and have bought and sold a number of new releases but the sim always goes back in the one x for some reason.
First phone I haven't rooted or played with since jailbreaking iPhone 3g.
Stock works fine.....

People say good things of the One X's camera and screen. I'm a fan of the N4's screen, too, personally.
But I despise Sense.

[ Happy/Sad ] 'Moto G' is the new Fascinate/Galaxy S

Man I'll have to say I'm kind of both happy & sad...
I appears that the Motorola 'Moto G' 'Falcon' is the new Fascinate/Galaxy S...
[info rant mode]
I mean gosh, just like our beloved phone, they have all the variants
cdma - for Verizon, Sprint, Boost
gsm - AT&T, T-Mobile, International
LTE - US or International versions
Prepaid mvno's ... and more
8GB OR 16GB, and the lte versions have removable micro sd
1GB Memory
1.2 GHZ quad-core snapdragon 400 processor
Adreno 305 GPU
2070 mAh battery
5mp rear camera w/flash
1.3mp front camera
4.5 in display
So, it's
physically same size as the fascinate, but more screen real estate, better pixels, faster everything, barely any heavier, development galore, and that price!!!
the cdma Boost Mobile model (3g only) which is only 8 gb and no micro sd expansion slot can be had for $75 BRAND NEW (street pricing), no contract, & shipped to your door!
Did i mention it's readily and easily rooted and flashed over for use on pageplus!
I'm really just floored!!!
I got this moto g as an entry phone for my wife's mom and her 1st smart phone,,, but after seeing how nice it is and how great & smooth and easy to work with no major hoops to jump through,
I'm seriously considering jumping ship quickly...
Just have to figure out if i can handle living with only 8gb storage on a phone...
which is only 6mb usable after the os is all said and done...
... to be continued...

well... The Boost version (XT1031) can be unlocked by way of a code provide by Motorola.
Motorola will not provide a unlock code for the Verizon version (XT1028).
The Republic Wireless (CDMA) and AIO (GSM) versions are also "not eligible" for the bootloader unlock codes from Motorola.
the Republic wireless is the only one I'm aware of that is a 16gb model cdma version
I jumped from the Fascinate to the Moto G quite a while ago, but I came back to the fascinate forums because my fassy is used in my car as a media player. That being said, the Moto G is fantastic! The way I get around the small storage space (I have the Boost Mobile flashed to Page Plus) is to use a usb drive. This is the one I use. Some users have reported issues with USB OTG with the newest CM11, as well as a few other versions, but I've not had a problem. In fact, I'm running stock with Xposed + Gravitybox. First time I've ever run a phone on stock and been satisfied.

Dude!
I saw you on the moto g page, thanks for the report!
Thanks again, i was just wondering and reading about using a otg cable and a flash drive (usb drive).
I didn't know they made a drive with the micro usb!
That's great!
and the pricing is right in line with normal usb storage
$8 - 16 gb
$16 - 32 gb
That may just very well seal the deal for me

Glad I could help. I will warn, though, the Verizon Moto G can't have its bootloader unlocked, nor can it be used on anything but Verizon for at least 6 months. If you intend to use it like that, by all means, go for it. However, if you plan on using it on Page Plus, get a Boost Mobile Moto G. Boost Mobile is the only "branded" Moto G that can have its bootloader unlocked, and since it has the same radios as Verizon, it works if you flash it (which is actually pretty easy).
im starting to wonder why almost none of the carriers are letting people unlock the bootloaders on their moto g devices (with the exception of boost..)
i guess its the same reason, for example, the s4 isnt bootloader unlockable if you had it upgraded past the original bootloader (aka MDK). its all about money.

Yup, more proof of their deceptive story lines. Trying to make us believe that with their subsidized pricing/contracts is 'helping' us 'save' money it's really only lining their pockets with more green...
I upgraded my Mom and GF to the Moto G from the HTC Droid Incredible on Pageplus. They like it and the difference is night and day. Only negative is the non removable battery and no micro SD card. Phone misbehaves when you fall below 10% free space. Boost version was available from Target for 59$ earlier last week.
As for me, still using the Fascinate till it dies or something better comes my way.

I know that's why i posted this thread originally for those like myself who were not aware, at the time,,, now routinely under $100 and generally $75 or $65.
This makes it a fantastic choice to move from our slowly dying barely supported funky partitioned phone!
Or the extremely cheap like myself !
Like mentioned the 'otg' cable or otg device makes storage a virtual non issue.
are you all buying the 8GB moto g or the 16gb one? i'd get the 16gb if i were you.. and if money's not as much of an issue.
There is nothing bigger than the 8gb boost version that will work with Pageplus. There are other varieties that work with other carriers but not Pageplus.

Buying Advice: Upgrade from HTC One X

Looking to replace my trusty HTC One X (AT&T Dual Core) with the Moto G 2014. My HOX is currently showing it's age since I had to relock the phone and reinstall the ATT bloated ROM (bc of work). I'm thinking the quad core and the *clean* ROM will help the responsiveness. Can anyone provide feedback on the HOX vs. the G?
