First of all, I have it unlocked and rooted and had CyanaogenMod 10.1 installed. It was working without a problem earlier today and has been for a week or so, so everything had been properly flashed.
When I go to restart, it goes to the CyanogenMod loading screen and gets stuck there. I restarted it, holding the volume down button to access the screen where I can go into recovery. When I choose recovery, I get an android with a red triangle with an exclamation point. What can I do from here to get it working properly?
I just tried flashing the stock Android 4.2 image through the Nexus Toolkit. It flashed the bootloader, flased radio image successfully. THen it said boot.sig, recovery.sig, and system.sig were not found, which I have read is what is supposed to happen. So then it sent boot, sent recovery, erased system, and sent system. Now it says writing system and is taking a really long time. Is it normal for it to take a really long time? For reference, it's been saying writing system for about a half hour now.
ANy help here? WOuld appreciate any advice or input.
It shouldn't take that long use this guide to return to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312

NM, misread the post.
Using what you said. Writing system just started. Approximately how long should this take?
THanks dude. I was able to flash my custom recovery and reinstall CyanogenMod. Thanks a lot dude! I'll give you some thanks.
that android with the red triangle and exclamation point is the stock recovery. you could have just fastboot flashed a custom recovery, then wiped data and reflashed cm in the recovery.

This isn't my first android root but I'm stuck. I followed the video for rooting my Nexus 10. Got stuck in a boot loop but was able to flash cwm but still in boot loop. I tried doing the factory reset and now cwm is gone too and still stuck in boot loop. Do I need to reflash the stock recovery and if so where do I find that to download?
flash tbe cwm recovery again via fastboot, transfer your custom rom of choice from your desktop to your device, wipe data (factory reset), then flash that rom via cwm. btw, this is a galaxy nexus forums

and the recovery flashed fine? did you "fastboot devices" to make sure fastboot can see your device? sometimes these recoveries need to ne flashed a few times before they take. try flashing it two or three times in a rom. did you try twrp recovery? you might like that recovery better.
op, rename/delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p and reflash your custom recovery;
RANT: GOD DAMN IT, WHERE'S MY NEXUS 10!!!??? BEEN WAITING FOR 2 GODAMN MONTHS! - Sorry, it's just that I've been going through some **** to get my hands on one - AND THERE'S PEOPLE WHO'S GOT 2!!!

Thanks for all the help!

It appears to be flashing fine and yes it sees my device. I tried multiple reflashing this am and still no joy.
I reposted in the right place and got some help but not done yet. I think mod might delete this thread since I have the other one going.

accidentally posted this in the samsung nexus forum #whoops
Boot back into recovery and press all 3 buttons (power, vol +, vol -) simultaneously until the menu comes up. The timing has to be very exact so don't worry if it takes 10+ tries. Then select factory reset and it should boot up properly.
I never could get CMW to stay. So I flashed TWRP as the recovery instead. Also follow wireroid advice about getting out of boot loop. If you want to SEE that method, check out the rooting N10 vid on youtube by qbking777.
some progress!
Ok I got back into the tablet with wireroid help YAH!!
I have a system update pending but when I tried to install it I got the red! with 'no command' ... after a near heart attack I did the factory reset again and got back to where I was before.
Now I need pointed in the right direction. So right now I'm unlocked but that's it. I have no custom recovery and presumably no su access because all I successfully did was unlock the bootloader.
I downloaded the nexux10 toolkit. Do I need to flash a recovery first? Do I try CMW again or go with TWRP? I've only used CMW in the past.
Do I ignore this Jelly Bean system update for now??

Try this toolkit by Wugfresh. http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
It's what I used and I went from locked and stock to unlocked, rooted, and with TWRP as my recovery in less than 15 minutes. I unlocked and rooted my GNex the "old-fashioned" way but wanted something easier for my N10.
Also, here's a YouTube video from QBKing77 walking you through the process using the above toolkit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtLvlrUDB04&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Since you're already unlocked you should be able to just skip to the part where root and a custom recovery are flashed (you'll end up with TWRP but you can always download ROM Manager and flash ClockworkMod if that's your preference).
Good luck.

Okay heres what happened: I was attempting to flash a ROM. After making a new backup and flashing that new ROM the device would not boot. So like any normal person would do I then went back into recovery and attempted to restore my backup. Upon restoring the backup, halfway through the device just decides to reboot and boot into the ROM (which was a half restored backup). I tried to boot back into recovery and start the process over however now the device will not boot into the recovery at all. It continues to loop the bootloader logo over and over. Is this a soft brick? Either way, all I want at this point is to be able to restore that backup so I can atleast have it working again. All help is much appreciated.
EDIT: okay i managed to get the recovery loaded, what i may end up doing is loading a saved ROM up and starting from scratch there (TWRP continues to Stop my restore halfway through and reboot the recovery --very frustrating tbh). My question then however would be is there a way to get my data back from my backup once I start fresh? Does tibu allow this or something comparable? I really don't want to lose all that data. Thanks again.
Edit 2: managed to fully resolve issue. delete if neccessary.

How did you get back into recovery? I had paranoid android flashed and i did a factory reset like an idiot. Now i cant boot into recovery - "teamwin" logo freezes and reboots into a continuous loop. I can get into the bootloader but nothing works?

I'll tell you what I literally did.
When the device was bootlooping the teamwin logo, I booted into fastboot and powered my device completely off. I then waited an hour as I was a little tired with what was happening to take care of something. After that hour I turned it on and it suddenly booted into teamwin recovery. That's exactly all I did. So what I would do is turn the device off for a little bit then try to see if it boots the recovery. If not you will likely have to use the nexus 10 toolkit to reflash the recovery.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for above response. Much appreciated!

So I am in this same boat and will probably have to use some toolkit since I have not been able to boot up TWRP. I know I am on 2.4.4.0 or something for TWRP, not 2.5 but would CWM be a better choice since I have run into this now a couple of times? This is the first where it hasn't stopped the recovery boot loop.
I have the international/unlocked i9505 and i rooted via cf auto root and flashed the cwm recovery..
I then flashed the ge rom from here and i setup it all nice until I rebooted when it is just stuck at the google animation (with the four colors in the center) and it just stays there. I left it there for a good hour before I put the phone into the cwm recovery and follows steps like wipe the "d" cache and formatting the /system, and /cache. it still boots the animation.. flashed the rom again and it still hung there...Any help would be much appreciated.
EDIT: If possible, i would rather just flash the official touchwiz rom to avoid more problems down the line.

Reflash, and when your phone gives you the option to `fix` recovery, select no. Then let your phone reboot and install.

How long did it hang for? i was having problems reflshing, my phone hung for about 20 minutes before doing anything the first time i flashed it with google rom. I left it came back thinking it was unseccessful and when i was reading for solution it just booted up. Since then i have had no problems reflashing.
Also as above post suggests, in TWRP recovery after i installed a rom when exiting it would say FIX permissions, when i swiped yes the rom wouldnt boot. now it all seems fine however i think i didnt know what i was doing.

Hi all,
I bought a white N4 today since my GNexus died on me.
I played a but with the phone and went on to rooting.
I unlocked bootloader, but now the phone won't boot!!! it doesn't go pass the Google coloured cross.
I can still go to fastboot, so I flashed CWM recovery. Tried to wipe data, but it seem it can't mount /sdcard . . .
Please help I have no clue what's going on and fear I bricked a brand new phone
Thanks

Boot into CWM and wipe cache. If that doesn't work, flash the stock recovery, boot into the stock recovery, and wipe cache.

That is the splash screen for the stock recovery. To access the menu, hold the power button and press volume up.
Then wipe cache and reboot. If that doesn't work, factory reset and reboot.
ok got it.
Flashed stock recovery, wiped everything, locked bootloader. I guess I am 100% stock now.
Phone is booting ok.
I will try to use Nexus root toolkit to
1, unlock
2, flash CWM recovery
3, flash superSU
Hope it will work ok now.
What is your take on what happened ?

Have a read of the "return to stock" sticky in the General section. Sometimes the N4 won't boot if you have flashed images. You need to either format userdata (i.e., factory reset) or wipe cache.
No need to use a toolkit to do what you want.
1) Unlock the bootloader: fastboot oem unlock
2) Flash CWM: fastboot flash recovery cwm.img
3) Boot into recovery and flash a superuser zip.
everything is now fine!
Thanks Efrant!
