First time building the Rom using the kitchen with Linux (Ubuntu). That's really easy and much faster compared to the Cygwin approach under Windows. Wow.
How the Rom as compared to other rom... thanks in advance

Yes of course, Samsung knows...
Is there any logical explanation why some members always start to ask [placeholder for expressions that shouldn't be written down] questions like this?

My reason of asking was that I thought stock firmware modders would know what were the changes. At least from what files had been changed. Guess I was wrong then.
which is better
based from samsung updates, LS6 is newer than LR1 but the later has higher changelist

Asia Galaxy Note N7000 build ZSLR1
Has anyone successfully rooted the Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 build ZSLR1 with jelly bean? If so, please show this nooby which file to download and the exact steps to install the root file for the android phone? I know nothing about rooting and my phone is giving me a lot of trouble of running out of storage space or insufficient storage when there is a 32GB external micro SD card in it.
Please help!!
Thanks in advance!!!
If you do not know anything about this: start reading and learn. There are many excellent tutorials in all the sticky threads made by members exactly for this purpose.
If you do not want to do this (and by asking for "exaxt steps" it feels like this): do not root, stay on stock and be happy. Even here you can solve your problems by simply making a factory reset and remove apps if necessary.
Do not assume people did not read what is posted, when you assume you just showed that you are arrogant and disrespectful. And if you have nothing better to say other then show off your power in a web site, you can STFU.
Guess this site is not as helpful either!!
Thanks a bunch!

Hi,
I just read The Beginner's Guild to Root Galaxy Note, I am not sure which kernel I need to download for use with Method 2 to root my phone. My Galaxy Note 1 is running JB 4.1.2. Baseband Version is N7000XXLT3, Kernel Version is totally different than what was explained on the guide. My Kernel Version reads something like this: 3.0.31-1279458
[email protected] #3
SMP.PREEMPT Mon Jun24 19:41:50 KST 2013
No idea which kernel will match with this version for the root process; I looked in the link provided, seems like it's all letters for the kernel files and not numbers like mine, not sure what to look for there; if someone could kindly point me the right file to download, that would be much appreciated!!
Also, the Build number on my phone is: JZO54K.N7000ZSLR1. I found from your site that there is a file called "PhilZ-cwm6-ZSLR1-OZS-5.11.2-signed". Will this be the file I need to root my phone? And by following method 2 in the guide, will this file do the job then? Please confirm!
I am planning to use method 2 to root my phone, seems to be the easiest and safest way to do so. Just want to make sure I got the right file/kernel and the right way to do it, please advise!! Thanks a bunch!!

More info please. What kernel, what ROM, what root did you use? I'm nice, but some people on this forum would eat you alive for leaving a post like this.
I'm sorry amigo - I know very little about phones - new to this world. I'm pretty good with computers though. I learn fast.
It's Kernel version 2.6.29
build number SPH-D700 ECLAIR.DI18.
Firmware: 2.1-update1
I used one.click.root.exploitv2.2.4 to root the phone. I haven't installed any other ROMS (Is there a place on the phone or within Rom Manager where it displays which exact ROM I am running?).

You're already on DI18, no need to update.
The build number shows you the ROM you're running
Ah great. Thank you.
I have previously used the Hero and currently use the HTC desire...after rooting what else should I not do. Should I syncronize with the kies software or not, I am trying to avoid installing anything that will prevent future updates etc. The details on the Tab is shown below not sure what they mean.
Baseband version: P1000XXJID
kernel version: 2.6.32.9

Build Number
FROYO.XWJJ3.
Tab was bought from Best buy.
Thanks in advance
Rooting is adviceable, because will give you the options of installing many more useful apps. As or the rom subject it depends if you are willing to wait the official releases via kiel, or if you like to be more up to date and use experimental leaked roms. It's also about how comfortable you are flashing firmwares.
P_
*be carefull if you flash any of the roms! Read around regarding bootloaders being protected on some of the recent firmwares!*
As said tho rooting is a must. Get familiar with odin. All depends on what you want to gain from the device really.
My advice - use it as is then when you find things you wonna update/change read around here and you should find the answers

Hello everyone.
Is there a one true guide to installing a ROM on my Note 3? I'm running a T-Mobile N-900T. It seems that after browsing the web, I've seen so many different ways to install a ROM that I'm extremely hesitant to try one on the off-chance that it is no longer supported and may brick my device. This is a non-warrantied phone (bought it on Swappa) so I only get once chance if I end up Hard Bricking it, so my fear level is at the absolute highest.
I wanted to run Eclipse Note 3 TW Rom (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620723) because it's a nice simple ROM that retains S-Pen function and removes all the bloat and stuff. However, I noticed that it says "This is based off of 4.4.2 NC2 for Verizon Wireless." Does this mean it won't work with a T-Mobile Note 3?
This is as far as I got in towards the process before I stopped due to something unexpected:
1) TowelRoot. Rooted it and confirmed with the Root app that it was indeed rooted.
2) Downloaded SuperSU. I installed the binary using the Normal mode since I didn't have CWM or TWRM at the time. It asked me to disable KNOX and it looks like it was fine. I restarted it.
This is where I stopped. After I installed it, it asked me to confirm if I want to confirm allowing Freedom and SetCPU. I did and it continuously started spamming the notification that it was allowed for 20 minutes.
I went into the SuperSU program to see what's wrong and it then told me that the Binary could NOT be found and that I may have to flash my rom back to get it back to normal. It then gave me the error that something was wrong on my phone and that I might have to install something called Samsung Kies to make it better.
I pretty much freaked out at this point and de-installed SuperSU out of fear that I might screw up my phone. Now I'm extremely fearful to do anything without seeing some sort of de facto guide on what to do next.
If it helps, here's the phone information I have. I know that different ROM flashing methods are used for various kernels.
Model: SM-N900T
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband: N900TUVUCNB4
Kernel: 3.4.0-660648 | [email protected] #1 | Wed Feb 12 21:31:27 KST 2014
Build Number: KOT49H.N900TUVUCNB4
SE for Android Status: Enforcing | SEPF_SM-900T_4.4.2_0005 | WED FEB 12 21:31:01 2014
Security Software Version: MDF v1.0 Release 2
I have a 128GB Samsung SDXS MicroSD. The phone recognizes 119 GB of it which I know is normal.
Any help or direction would be most appreciated. The world of Flashing has so many roads that my head is spinning and my fear is that I will turn this phone into a $500 brick because I followed the wrong guide.
Thank you.

Thanks.
I do understand that and I have the program, but I can't find any SOLID documentation. I see all these different guides out there and I'm scared that I'm going to pick the wrong one. The ages vary as well, so I don't know if they are still relevant or not.
Not only that, I don't believe that just Odin is enough. There are also prerequisites that are required before I can just up and use Odin. That'st he part that I would hope a decent guide out there would provide me.
A bit early by a few minutes but, Bump for help.
Any information or leads would be terrific.
Thank you.

You would like to try what? What I was stating was my Moto E has an update available to 6.0 MM. I have not downloaded it as of yet, cause I am aware there's something you need to do first in order to capture the download for redistribution. From what I understand you cannot use an already downloaded and installed OEM~OTA update for redistribution...
A little guidance from the seniors would be EXTREMELY appreciated, as this is my first thread ever... I'm looking at you squid2 lolz
i am waiting for the 7th when Telus said they would roll it out.
Not sure how they make the uploaded Firmware archives either..
No matter how many time i asked i either got ignored or hammered with some weird advice (English issue?)
And i meant the one that we all use uploaded to Mega etc.
Who is making them and with what?
Apparently no one knows and what concerns me even more is a little thing called security.
I asked so uhhh why are we not using hashes to verify the firmware ?
It's complete insanity to check hashes on some dumb app and not your OS ..that just blows me away LOL
I'm interested in putting this on my Sprint phone (XT1526). CM13 won't detect my Canadian SIM.

That's the fsent. Will upload in a few hrs.

Could you please lend a fellow Ontarian brother a hand, and tell me where the OTA file actually is? I've had the damn thing for a week now, and I can't seem to find it anywhere to capture it! I would love to actually install this OTA...
I do appreciate your help in finding somebody who had done the work already. However the OTA that I have waiting on this phone is a slightly different one. the numbers are different 24.51.39.... my educated guess is going to be it is slightly smaller because it contains no Rogers or Telus bloatware. Wind Mobile does not have a single app installed on this phone right outta the box, So I would like to capture it before I send it off to be installed.
I have read many of your posts across multiple threads, and you are obviously quite knowledgeable -> especially in the coding Department!
Are you sure it's going to install?
Once you Root it or various other custom changes the updates will not install.
It checks if you were tampering with the phone and will deny the update.. even if you can download it.
Thanks for the kind words but i am not sure off hand unless i search around.
One thing you try doing is search online etc with the words Blur, Update, Zip, Location
Or if you have a file manager with root you can search for it.
The benefit of the full packages available is they just install on any phone with no checks.
It's also not an update but the full installer.
So i think it's possible you may download an update with patches.
So it will see what you had before and patch those files.
Which could make saving & using the update again later problematic
..especially if you root !
If you upload it publicly we can check and see if it's a full install or a patch by looking at updater-script probably.
If i were you i would keep tabs on the Firmware repositories to see if the Wind package gets uploaded.
Then you will have a full install you can use coming from most others and with the security checks removed.
If you have something that can search your system files installed you can try searching for something that
will probably have Blur in the file name and be a flashable zip file.
If you have TWRP installed i think you can just load that and look around with the Built-In File Manager.
I am eating lunch so i might look on the web soon and check back here.. good luck.
Sorry i have not done it before so maybe someone who has can speak up or you can find one of their topics here.
The OTA update file is in the device main memory in data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/app_download
Thanks hedimahf i will save that for future reference.
Also lenigma1too i am pretty sure if you rooted your phone then you can not install that update.
Those type of updates are risky for us that customize our phones.. be careful.. make plans to fix it ahead of time
Unless my phone was stock (not rooted) with the default recovery and an original factory locked bootloader
i myself would not even attempt to install the update.
Google it and see the many people talking about BootLoop problems
I bet there is also little difference between Wind, Rogers or Telus aside from a couple small APK's and the Modem data stuff.
If all three have the same radio band support then i wouldn't worry too much about which one to use.
Although you may end up struggling to get your phone calls and text's etc working again if you switch like that.
The Telus one i tried just had 1 extra APK the "My Telus" app and a shortcut to it on the phone.. i uninstalled it with ease.
Other than that i did not see ANY other app's installed that were not standard on the USA/EU retail versions etc
EDIT:
Oh and the BootLogo was like on Lollipop but slightly more blue.
And the Boot animation was new too.. Marshmallow Telus has "Stitches World" video.
The default wallpapers and the collection of them were like on Lollipop too.
EDIT:
My point was the Telus firmware only had "branding" with that one app.
Otherwise the word Telus does not show up anywhere really.
Also i tend to compare packages so i am keeping my eye out so i can see what is different.
If you want i can PM you if i run across Wind version.

They are intended to used with RSDLite or ADB.
They are found on the big Firmware topic(s) here. (first post over there for links)
You should check out the discussion going on for help with that on those topics for best information.
Putting Firmware from on model onto another may break your ability to make phone calls
and then you would have to try and fix it somehow and it starts to get complicated.
Which is why those other topics are so valuable.. good luck.
I repeat the 2 zip's mentioned are NOT flashable-zip's. (they are just a normal zip file for storage)

As you see, I have SM-G930P and not SM-G930U and there's nothing telling me I can safely apply the same technique in order to get it rooted.
If you can confirm to me I can go ahead, I will glad fully test it.
Thanks for your answer.
I tried this method on P firmware and could not get mobile data to work.
I also have the same phone as the OP and can't find anything recent on rooting this P version phone. I didn't have any issues with rooting s3-s6 on version. Usually the info is more concise and easier to find. I'm not a coder by anymeans, thank you to the people who come up with these roots and rom version. If anyone has any info on rooting P I'd also love the help.

I tried rooting my s7 g930p NRD90M.G930PVPU5BQL1 from watching a video on youtube. I used odin and file Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR Now my phone bootloops.
Can anyone point me to the right direction?

Same here. been working to to restore it but so far the above tar file you posted is the only one that odin "likes". (all the others fail)
I'm in the same boat with the same phone on Sprint. What about using one of the "one click root" methods such as cf-auto-root. It seems like it will create a custom package for this phone. Has anyone tried it?
