this:
The .conf file is the same as an .ovpn file. They're actually just plain text files, you can change the extension to anything you want. .ovpn is often used on Windows, .conf on Unix.
More importantly, that zip has a key in it, didn't you make it yourself? Or is someone actually generating and sending the private key?!
Well, that's pretty much all the files you will need to connect to the VPN. On windows you would just unzip the file, pop that into your OpenVPN folder (inside programme files) and then connect automatically to the VPN by running the client GUI. Since you are using a VPN service from a company the config file is probably already setup for you.
As for the private key, OP got the zip file from the VPN service provider. May be the zip file was encrypted before it was sent? Actually does it matter? As long as it was sent through a SSH encrypted channel (SFTP or HTTPS) it should be safe enough. If someone can hack SSH to steal the key, you have bigger problems to worry about.

I have used different tools for uploading files to the FTP server, very fast, but not acurate. For saying, a file in 20MB, it says uploaded 20MB, when I check it, it may only uploaded 5MB. Any specific tools need for this server?

How to install the .xml files bundled in the cabs.rar?? I do not know how to make the extrom run automatically after the HR so i have to install each cab file 1 by 1, can anyone help??
Use the ones in cabs2. Also make sure you know what are those .xml for (they are replaced with .cab (s) in cabs2)
xml files are a typicaly a formatted text file like html
not really binary exe programs files
some programs use xml files to store settings and data
maybe they need to be in a location the program in question
will look for them

Did you mean copy the .xml files to the location of the program file ??
use HTCustom1.7.cab
yup...
I am having the same issue. I keep seeing these .xml files. I am not a computer guru lol. Do I cut and paste it somewhere on my phone or what? I am so lost please help.
Same thing here on my side mixtape_butcha. I'm subscibed in an Universal forum and have to install a USB switch which is a folder containing an xml file. I asked many time a guide on how to use it but nothing came back.
If you happen to know how to handle it, let me know. I'l do the same with you.

first of all it is nice that you looked up a matching post yourself and obviously searched for a solution there, but...
if i get your problem right, it doesn't match the ones before. they were talking about .xml files that came with a cab file and stored the settings on how to install and execute.
you, however, talk about a subscribtion to a thread, meaning your xml file is an RSS feed, for which you need a special reader, since PIE is not a proper desktop browser and therefore does not handle feeds. but there is a lot of software out there to handle rss feeds. i personally use spb online 1.2, but there is also freeware, like this: http://www.dewantoro.net/search/pda+rss+reader+cab
i don't get the point with the usb switch though, maybe if that didn't solve your problem you should post further details about that issue and maybe post filenames or screenshots so we all know exactly what you are about to do.
You need not worry to install xml file if it comes with a cab. Cab file should be designed to use it automatically. xml files store usually configurable settings, it may be worth opening those files using any text editor like note pad or even IE to check the contents, that may help if any change is needed. But 99% chances are that you need not do any thing with those xml files.
I have found some people run in to this problem when they download a .cab file from the internet and once downloaded it is a .rar so you extract the .rar to find NOT .cab but .xml
Here is more about it and how to fix it.

I am trying to install a game on my MDA Vario IV , it does have .xml file. But no .cab files , only .000 file , .002 , .003 , and .004 files. How do i install this game then ? The installer is the .xml file.
EDIT : Nvm , fixed it , i needed not the files within the .cab file , but just the .cab file itself to extract in on my mobile.

Couple of things:
You are in the wrong subforum. This section is for the Blue Angel. You should look for the Blackstone (aka Touch HD) section.
Now, the file that you opened is a cab file. You don't need to extract the contents of a cab file. Just copy it to your device and click on it one. The cab will install everything, including the settings in the xml.
Good luck!

I'm trying to get the files for unlocking my Tmobile Vario II onto my handset.
However I can't sync my phone with the work PC, I can probably do this at home however I suspect I'm going to hit the same problems.
I email myself the zip file, then retrieve my emails from Yahoo, download the attached zip file, and then open the zip file to find that majority of the files have Warning as their title cos they've been nicked by the filter somewhere.
Anyone any ideas round this. I'll probably sync at home and see if I can unzip on the laptop then take each file accross unzipped.
To get the files past your filter, add a password to the .zip
This will stop the filter being able to access the zip and therfore it cannot strip them.
I use 7zip for the best compression and to add a password.
I have same thing here at work.
Not sure if this has been discussed earlier but I've been searching for quite a while for the exact working procedure so I can have my cert installable through UC. I support many clients with Exchange 2003 and PDA's so this works really nice for me, of course YMMV
First you need Network 2.0 installed on your workstation, the x86 version alavaible here
Then, referring to Scott Yost's contribution on MSDB Blogs, SSLChainSaver v2 released download & install Windows Mobile SSLChainSaver
This will create a directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft SSL ChainSaver by default with no program group. I suggest installing to a easier to find folder as this will be run via a Command Prompt, I use D:\SSL myself.
Then I run a Command Prompt and change my Drive and Directory to that folder. (I'm sure that if you need this knowledge you already know how to navigate in a Dos windows)
There I type S and a tab (which, on an XP or Vista computer will autocomplete SSLChainSaver.exe. Type a space then the FQN of the server containing the cert, for instance, mail.mycompany.com. This will create a folder named mail.mycompany.com containing the cert, which we don't need. It will also create 2 files, mail.mycompany.com.wm5.xml and mail.mycompany.com.wm6.xml. Al my device are WM6.1 so I need the second one.
Rename the second file to _setup.xml.
The type makecab /d compress=off _setup.xml email.cab (or whatever you want to name the cab)
Copy the cab to your SC and input the necessary line into your SDConfig.txt if you use UC or simply run through File Explorer.
This, in addition to creating cabs to automatically Auto-provisioning Exchange mail via UC saves me a LOT of time.
Enjoy and I hope that somebody finds this useful
Excellent work! I have been looking for a good way to achieve this via UC and this works perfectly.
Kevan
So you re doing all this just to get _setup.xml made for you ? Why not see whats in it and create it yourself ?

OK, see what's in mine and create one then...
The whole idea is to create a cab, not an xml file... at least for me that is.
Great work! I've been looking for that - didn't know you could do this
Here's a script - just add it to your SSL Chainserver folder (default: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SSL ChainSaver) and run it - it will ask you for your web/mail-server and create the cab automatically...
Code:
@echo off
set mailserver=mail.mycompany.com
set /P mailserver=Please enter your mailserver (%mailserver%) + [ENTER]:
SSLChainSaver.exe %mailserver%
copy %mailserver%.wm6.xml _setup.xml
makecab /d compress=off _setup.xml %mailserver%.cab
echo Done! Copy %mailserver%.cab to your provisioning folder and add it to your UC (SDConfig.txt) or SASHIMI script :)
pause

This is great, it's exactly what I needed. I just have one question. Why make a CAB file? Don't UC and Sashimi both support provisioning XML? It seems like you should be able to save a step. And taking that one step further, couldn't you put both the certificate and the Exchange provisioning in the same XML file?

For me, it's because I rarely let the UC start as when I'm evaluating a new ROM I need it to be the way the chef made it and not as it is with my modifications. Much easier for me to just run the cab files.

Hi Marty,
The FQDN is the Fully Qualified Domain Name of your machine. So whatever you type into the Address Bar of the Internet Explorer to access the machine would be the FQDN. If your Exchange Server is called "server1" it's usually "server1.domainname.com" or sometimes your Domain Admin adds "mail.domainname.com" or "exchange.domainname.com which points to the server1 machine...

The cab files can be opened with winzip on your PC. The contents of a cab file is usually an xml file, icon file and other files for installation. Are you sure you are not opening a cab file in winzip?

Gotcha, thanks man! Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything I don't already have
icons
can u help me with one more thing. i downloaded some icons. it does not have any other files but icons and album file. when i place the file into the windows directory. gives me an message that it can not be overitten due to not enough space and file is being used. how do i change go around it.
thks jelendel. for making file in to cab.
similar problems/questions
most cab files/apps i download and install are very straight forward and I save to storage card and there are right there on my "start" screen. others I download and I cant find them? I look through the file explorer but either cant find them or dont know what to do if I do find the file.
example, egg timer 1.0 -I can find it listed on "remove programs" page page so I know I got it. but how do I get it to a more 'usable' location.
another example. I want to get the Bluetooth toggle (BTtoggle) from pocketnow site. I downloaded the app, then it says I need to edit my registry (I understand the dangers of this) at
"HKLM\software\HTC\Manilla" and change the value of HomeLSKPath to the path to your BTtoggle.exe .....etc.....
First time editing registry, so sounds like I need to get a registry editor. I looked for a free one. CeRegEdit version 5.2.exe file. looks like it downloaded ok but I cant find on device??
LASTLY, I use CoOkies home editor and I really like it, but does that mean I cant do other changes/app installs to any HTC sense items/lock screen/home screen/etc? thanks for reading this far....steve
Or if you know of easier to get bluetooth toggle or any kind of timer applications so I dont burn food at the fire station, feel free to reccomend...Thanks

Aloha, and just because you're in civil service like that, I'll give you a hand with this one here...but it's usually best to open a new thread with a bunch of questions like that. You can just edit your post above to just say "moved to new thread", and then copy all that you wrote into a new thread you start...you'll probably get more views/responses that way too
These cabs will give you a toggle for bluetooth, wifi, and a reset button. Once you run the cab, you can find them in your start menu, but they're most useful when you assign them to one of the quicklink spots (on your home tab), just like you would any other program.
P.S. you'll find a lot more useful stuff for your new phone right here in these forums, and 99% of it is free, and known to work on the HD2 (unless stated otherwise). Start HERE and HERE
