I have the latest update with root privileges, but know it's gotten really sluggish and I want to do a factory reset. Will this remove root?
Yes

AW: Does factory resetting remove root?
No.You have to flash the stock image.

Depends.
If you started with a ROM or add-on flash that put Superuser.apk and su into the /system partition ... and did nothing further to that app/binary pair, they are safe from a factory wipe, as the /system partition is untouched during a factory reset.
If you updated Superuser.apk/su with a market app download *and* then updated the su binary, then one half of the pair (the app upgrade) is in /data/apps, which a factory reset would wipe.
That might or might not cause trouble if you only upgraded the Superuser app & su binary, as then after the wipe you would just have a newer su binary with an older version of the Superuser.apk app (in /system). OTOH, it would absolutely cause trouble if you replaced Superuser with a market install of SuperSU. After a factory wipe you would still have the SuperSU su binary ... but no matching app.
Moral of the story is to make sure that if you do an upgrade of *either* Superuser or SuperSU, you should manually move the new upgrade version to /system/app (after backing up/removing the older version). The safest way to do this is via the recovery command line - and then wipe dalvik cache before you reboot.
If you are unsure of any of this stuff, make a complete nandroid backup before you begin.
cheers

You don't need to flash rom again but you do need to format data when you flash gapps or you will bootloop so backup apps with something like titanium backup if you need to
Hey bro,
if you dont want any risk.
Make a system backup
then unzip gapps, copy to system and give permissions then restart.
Should work in most case.

Won't work you will bootloop - the framework needs it's data wiped so you need to wipe data in cwm
Use titaniumbackup pro to backup all your installed app

you would then be restoring the old data of the google framework too - chance of bootloop or error on google play sign in
the best way to install gapps without problems is to data wipe!!

Titanium Backup.
Restoring the data partition could cause ROM problems, like FCs, and stuff that doesn't worn properly.
After update to SuperSU 1.85 when restoring apps/data with Titanium backup the restored will apps Force close !!! And android firewall doesn’t work !
I did not had this problem before with SuperSU 1.8!
Anyone having issue?
It's a problem with tb. Look on the play store for tb restore fixer.

I can't find the OTA that the phone automatically downloaded while I was debloating it, and I'd like to find and remove this file as well as disable OTA checks/updates. I can't stand LP so I was able to successfully roll back from it.
Can someone help me find the location of the OTA that was downloaded? I've checked in /cache, /data/fota using es file explorer that has been granted root perms. Nothing's there.
Just clear cache from recovery and it will be deleted
