Hi.
I am using a class-4 16GB micro sd card in my S4.
I have been saving my camera photos on the sd card.
But whenever i open the Camera folder in Gallery, it takes a lot of time to load the folder and even to open an image. This happens only for the images and videos saved in the sd card folder.
What may be the problem ? Is it a problem with my phone or my SD card speed ??
Please help with a solution. Thanks

Hey,
I backed up my whole system via CWM to my SD card while I was trying a new ROM out. When I went to restore there were no back-ups found? I checked my phone memory as well as my SD card and found absolutely nothing. Thee is also another thing, when I move music to my SD card it won't play but when I move it to the internal memory it play fine?
Is my SD card faulty at all? Would a reformat sort it out?
Edit: Also when I take a picture, the picture will be unsupported format and I can't view it on my computer either?

when you are in settings those it shows that the sd card is mounted? have you tried the sd card on a computer? if the info you had in the sd card doesn´t shows up then you should try formatting the card.

It did show the SD card was mounted and that it was fine. Whenever I put data on it (music, photos, apks etc etc) they would just either get deleted, corrupted or not work at all.....
I have reformatted my SD card and it is working fine for now...
try using a different card, for example my note 2 did not accept 32 gigabytes SanDisk, I had to buy kingston 32gb class 10
Hello
I own Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 and it is rooted. I recently purchased a class 10 Sandisk Micro SD card with 64 GB capacity. I was very happy that I did but my happiness did not last long when I have come to know that 3rd party apps do not have write permission in Kitkat. After some research I was successful to make the SD card writable to 3rd party apps by modifying the permissions.xml file.
Everything seems to be fine at this time but it was not actually. The SD card when seen under storage in settings would show me that it is mounted with 62.5 GB capacity and 60 GB free. But when I try to browse the files in SD card, there are nothing. Apps saved in SD card do not open and I am also unable to capture images from camera to SD card storage.
I thought may be unmounting the SD card and mounting it back would work and it worked but after a while the same problem. My device shows that it has mounted an SD card but cannot access anything saved in it. So, I have to unmount and mount SD card every time and this is very much annoying.
Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you for your time.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes. It is Ex FAT format. Which format should I format it to? Ex FAT or just the FAT format.
It is not about applications. The card just gets undetected after some time and nothing can be accessed including music and images. I have to unmount it and mount again for the device to detect the SD card.
Format your SD Card on your phone its self. Go to settings, storage and than SD Card and format it.

Android 4.4 does not allow you to write directly to SD card (without root). You need to save to device first then transfer them over.
Is there any patch

If you root the device there are several patches in Play Store
Tell me
I have no problems saving to sd card using stock, non rooted Note4 and stock camera app. I believe factory installed system app can write to sd cards. Third party apps not.

What you meant is that you cannot install apps directly to SD card, but of course you may save pictures and videos to SD card. I have been doing that since day 1.
Popped a 64 GB Sandisk Ultra UHS1 Class 10 card in there. Didn't even need to change any settings, the phone was smart enough to determine that since I inserted the memory card I have intended to save my pictures and videos directly to the micro SD.

No not what I meant at all:

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which I recently upgraded to the official Lollipop 5.0.1 update. I also added a new Samsung 64 GB (Class 10) Micro SD Card. When I use the Micro SD Card in a card reader in Windows 8, I can easily add / delete files without any problems. When I use the Micro SD Card in the Samsung Galaxy S4, it works fine for a while, then suddenly files and folder automatically disappear or files become corrupt; photos clicked with the camera disappear instantly. I am not sure if the problem lies with the Micro SD Card, the phone, the OS or some app.
Please could someone help!
I would suggest to format the card in your phone (if not already done). And then try it again.

I found that you cannot even use the sd card as storage for apps with the 5.0.1 rom this is a issue for me as far as the sd card corrupting files im not sure i am using a 16 gig and i had to set everything manually to save to sd card or move it over myself such as the camera and downloads, but for apps not a chance

CM12 has the Move apps to sd feature.
I set my camera to save photos to the SD card and then when I go into my storage and click internal it shows an images folder. When I open it photos that I take with my camera are in there. Also new albums that I've created are in there and the only option is to save them to a cloud. Why aren't they saving to my SD Card and just as important, is there any other way to move those files to my SD Card???? PLEASE HELP.

Welcome to Marshmalow...
Saving photos to sd card should work on Marshmallow. It worked just fine with stock camera on LP as well when I had T2. Check camera app permissions. Check is sd card recognized by the system.
