Looks like the processor isn't actually the same as the Nexus 4 and shares a lot in common with the Snapdragon 600. Glad to see the display improvements as well.
Some highlights:
Display:
It turns out that the new Nexus 7 is actually very close to sRGB this time around, with overall gamut being just a bit bigger than the sRGB color space. In the GMB Delta-E and saturations Delta-E measures, arguably the two most relevant for color accuracy, the new Nexus 7 is second only to the iPad 4, and better than the iPad Mini in color accuracy, a significant step forwards from its predecessor.
The new Nexus 7 also goes very bright, up to 583 nits, with excellent contrast of 1273. This is again not achieved using any dynamic contrast cheating since those functions are thoughtfully disabled.

Processor:
the new Nexus 7 switches to Qualcomm’s APQ8064–1AA, a version with 4 Krait 300 CPU cores (yes, Krait 300, not 200) running at up to 1.5 GHz and Adreno 320 graphics. Rather than use a PoP and LPDDR2, this specific APQ8064 variant goes to PCDDR3L–1600 MHz instead, including 4, 4Gb discrete 1.35V SK-hynix DRAM devices off to the side (more on the opposite side of the PCB) adding up to 2 GB of RAM. Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro and Snapdragon 600 branding gets confused here, although Qualcomm is calling the APQ8064 inside the Nexus 7 (2013) S4 Pro, it's more like an underclocked or lower binned Snapdragon 600.

He is still working on battery tests, so those will either show up here or in a full review to come later.
Not usually one to buy a gadget sight unseen but after reading this review I'm really glad I ordered one.

Keep the feeling alive until the inevitable defect in all these first run units appears :good:
the S4 pro in the 2013 model is essentially an underclocked snapdragon 600! thanks to those krait 300 cores!!! thats a win!
Wow! Just read the entire article. New nexus7 is a beast. An all around great device.
What really caught my attention was some new thing with storage I/O called ftrim or something. This prevents the sluggishness and slowing down of device after its loaded with apps and stuff. So this nexus doesn't suffer the bottleneck like previous generation. Even better is that this is a software feature included in android 4.3. So even the older generation nexus7 "should" be fixed once updated to Android 4.3. This should breathe new life into the older models. Can't wait to flash 4.3 on mines and see how she runs.
The display, according to Anandtech, is nothing short of amazing. Even beating the ipad4 display in alot of areas. So a huge improvement from previous model.
What I really like is that there's actually Krait 300 cores. Although they calling it S4 Pro, its really an underclocked/low bin Snapdragon 600. Once this device is rooted and overclocked, expect to see its performance increase dramatically. As powerful as it is, could even be underclocked to achieve stellar battery life and still perform.great.
Thanks to OP for the link. I think this Anandtech mini review has put me over the edge on buying one. I especially want one now. Ill just flash 4.3 on older model.and give it to my father since he doesn't have a tablet and I know he'd enjoy it.
"Sorry, you are limited to 8 thanks per day"
Awwww...
Anyhow, that's great news! OTG was also confirmed working. This thing keeps getting better!!
... and now the lack of European availability hurts even more! Superb little device, dear Lord!

Mine arrived at my comgateway address today, I gave them the OK to ship on the website just now.
Should arrive on 7th Aug they said.
The website is pretty easy to use, and you get 10% off on your 1st purchase and free upgrade to express.
Total cost of shipping includes the price they quote, 9% fuel surchage, and 0.65% fuel surchage.
Nexus 7 weighs under 700g, so they charge you for only one kg.
So $28 USD (price of 1kg) + $2.24 USD (fuel surcharge) + $1.48 USD (insurance) = $28.92 USD after 10% off
$28.92 x 1.09 (Australian conversion rate) x 1.03 (international transaction fee) = $32.41 AUD (TOTAL price for shipping)
That makes the total i've spent for the 16gb nexus = $288.07 AUD or $257.92 USD
So far it's looking pretty good, i'll update you when i get my package

As the name suggests, the Google Nexus 7 features a 7" IPS display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip with 1GB of RAM and 12 core ultra-low voltage nVidia GeForce GPU.
And despite the capable hardware, Google managed to keep the price of the Nexus 7 impressively low. The slate will come in 8GB and 16GB flavors, which will retail for $199 and $249 respectively.
The Google Nexus 7 comes with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity and Google Wallet preinstalled. Sadly, there isn’t a 3G model available, but obviously keeping the price as low as possible was key here. That's also the reason there isn't a camera at the back, and only a 1.2MP front-facing snapper. However, it's capable of shooting 720p video, so it's not all bad.
Measuring 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm the 7-incher weighs in at 340 grams which is respectful for its size. The Amazon Kindle Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will be having a hard time indeed.
The Google Nexus 7 is already available for pre-order in UK, US, Canada and Australia and should ship in mid July. You can follow this link to book your Nexus 7 unit.

I feel you...i have been literally checking daily on rumors the past few months on this tablet. Im very turned off by the lack of SD.

i ordered one... for the price, IDGAF about storade space, i got the 16gb and it came to about 285 shipped. Thats an awesome price for hd screen, quad core processor, 12-core gpu, gps, etc. Im still amazed how they are profitable at that price. 16gb is more than enough for TRAVEL/ON THE GO. At home, you have FULL use of the cloud. On the go , I doubt you go through more than 16gb of media unless its a long trip and on long trips, u have wifi usually. I actually would have gotten the 8gb but figured 16gb is more desirable/will hold value longer. Be excited folks, i didnt think they would be able to do it. The sd slot was the BEST possible compromise, or would u have rathered to have sd but have a DUAL core, or 512mb of ram, or a 1000x600 screen or no gps etc.
So that means 200$ price not include tax, shipping fee ?

I have decided that since I already have two 10" tf101s, I really want to get the Nexus 7 right now to replace my tf101 as my "on-the-go" tablet.
I read the iconia 700 review, and it seems the Tegra3 is still a bit weak for driving the 1920x1200 screen as smoothly as the 1280x800 tablets.. so I will hold off on getting a new 10" tablet until the next round of 1920x1200 (or maybe 2560x1600??) comes out with beefier GPUs. I'd gladly take one with the new MALI405 GPU and a Cortex A15 based CPU.
I want one but can't afford it

I really want one, but I have the same concerns about the GPU. There is a reason why Apple (not that I like Apple) is using dual core, instead of quad, with a huge GPU in their new tablet. I was not at all impressed with the Tegra 2 GPU, and while the the Tegra 3 is better, it's not good enough to push that high resolution. Since the Tegra 4 will both have new CPU and GPU architecture, I may just wait. I'm only buying the Tf700 for the resolution, and I'll need a good GPU to push that.
I like hi-tech stuffs and have no problem affording the TF700. Currently having 1GTablet, 2x TF101s, 1x Nook Color, 1x Galaxy Player 4. I have enough Android fun ! I am waiting to try the next Asus Windows RT device.
My favorite TF101 has satisfied all my real needs.
I'll be selling my TF101 for the Nexus 7, I want to get a good taste of google-driven goodness for once, and this one actually looks like something I'd buy, unlike the earlier Nexus devices.

My Nexus 7 is on order. Originally I was gong to get the 700 and eBay my TF101, but decided to keep the TF and get a N7. Tegra 3 just doesn't impress me enough especially when combined with the high resolution of the 700's screen, to replace my TF.

Yes, I ordered from the Play Store and I'm waiting. But I ordered it after the release, not a pre-order. It's not a big deal. I'm not in a hurry. I own 2 other tablets, and 4 PC's. The N7 is just another toy.

1saleaday has dropped they price of the tablet down to 74.98 shipped. Better than the 89.99 its been running for the past two months.
Maybe with the price this low some developers would pick one up and start working on ICS or JB.
I remember when the nextbook 7 at biglots was 99.99 and every one jumped on it and its not half the tablet the elocity is.

Tempting... I have the original A7 (not the + model) -- I haven't quite been able to determine what the difference is between the two models though.
Any pointers on where to look (or what's different)?
There are 2 MAJOR differences.
1. Resolution bumped from 800x480 to 1024x600
2. True multi-touch (4 points)
The only downside that I can reference is the development for the tablet. With the type of hardware its pretty pitiful that we are stuck with Froyo.
However, from what I have read over @ tabletroms.com someone will be doing some development.

GT-I9500 Expansys-USA $799.99
GT-I9500 techno.trading(ebay.com) $797.97
GT-I9505 Best Buy $750.00 (with no activation)
Including FedEx 2-day shipping the lowest cost is from Negri, but Best Buy offer cheaper, although limited+bloated crap, operator versions.

that $100 is an investment in a ceiling that has me personally geekin out. I cant convince you personally, but if Android 5.0 or 5.1 makes the jump to 3.8, its possible to patch the kernel and reap the benefits. someone would have to work their tail off on an AOSP and lose all the customizations to android by samsung, but raw potential, has the 600 way short for a sheer value proposition, increased usability over time.

Related with the ram, both version have LPPDDR3, but as I read, in Octa is at 800Mhz, which makes it work at 12.8gb/s, a bit more faster than the S600. But right now, the difference is insignificant

I didn't know that. Well, that's one of the reasons S4 wins the battle with HTC One. Thanks for the info again

Some rumours from here,
http://www.smartphoneandprice.com/b...-android-smartphone-full-specs-and-price.html
Can't comment on the accuracy though.
5.4" QHD Display, 2560x1440
18MP Rear facing camera
Snapdragon 808 CPU
3GB RAM
32GB internal storage, expandable via microSD
3560mAh battery
£250/$350/€320
If true, at that price I'm hugely tempted to move from my Xperia Z2.
While the specs are pretty decent, one of the other rumors Ive heard is that its coming with Lollipop. If I have a phone coming out in the next month or two, I want it to have Marshmallow or an absolute guaranteed timeframe of being upgraded. Granted, I am big on running ROM's but will the bootloader be unlocked to do so? And if so, how many developers will really jump on this phone to work on it?
From what I hear it ships with 5.1.1.
Marshmallow isn't even out yet is it? And is likely to be buggy are launch anyway. I doubt it'll be stable until towards the end of Q1 2016 so I don't think I'd want it shipping on a phone out this year.
That price looks way too low, and the battery rumors have been all over the place. Remember, that curved screens isn't cheap.
There is no chance of it being £250 - absolutely none. If you have followed BBRY as long as I have - they still think they can charge premium prices (partly why their devices bomb) and even after shedding a lot of staff their cost base would not support that - think at least £400.

Yep, I agree. £400-£450 band is really buyable.
We don't know how BB places this phone on the market. Premium Business Device or Hi-End Consumer Phone ? Neither both, It won't be cheeper than S6 or Note 5 because build quality looks good and and additional hardware always cost more.

assuming that's about $500, that's about what I was thinking. It will be flagship priced, on the lower end, so $499 sounds like a sweet spot for Premium device that is still affordable. BB's most expensive phone is the Silver Passport, and that's $550, so I don't see it exceeding $599 to remain competitive. I saw a "leak" online somewhere from a Toronto channel that claims it will be 800 CAD, which is roughly $606.

At that kind of price Blackberry are pricing themselves out of the market really. If they want to shift units they're going to have to keep the price low when going up against other Android handsets.
I dont know if this was brought up or anything but does anyone know if this might have Qi(wireless) charging?

That's a good question. I've heard absolutely nothing about how it charges. We don't even know if it has fast charging either. Hopefully it has both.
Does it has type c USB?

All the leaks have shown a normal angular looking micro USB port.

I believe the new Nexus models and the upcoming Lumia 950 are the only phones launching this year with USB-C.

One plus two.
Plus a number of less known phone companies (Xiaomi, LeTV, etc)

I had a series of BB for 10 years. I miss the keyboard. I will have to try one of these and if they are close to the discussed price range will buy one. It looks like a large phone, however.
Sooo new spec sheets list the front cam as only 2 MP?? Is this an error or was the 5 MP rumor too good to be true? Not a deal breaker, but man, will THAT be disappointing. Awesome 18 MP Schneider Kreuznach lens on the back and... a camera from like 2005 on the front.
It's officially time, guys! Pre orders are LIVE!

$699 for the U.S. version. The front cam is 2 MP, but has a f/2.9" aperture with 1.75 micron pixels. I'm no camera buff, but that sounds good? Also, NFC confirmed, Fast charging confirmed, wireless charging confirmed... No compromises aside from the battery being non removable. Releases November 6. Still no word on whether the carriers will sell them directly.
I have no idea why they would remove wireless charging on all the models except for the US, as the specs stand. They did spend the money to test them in the lab, then last minute pull it all out?

That phone is elegant but I'm worried about the Slide keyboard thing, if it uses flex cable it will wear anytime. One thing, it doesn't have gyro sensor.

The mechanism is solid apparently.
