The N7 mounts as a USB using Windows. Click and drag.

On a windows computer all you have to do is drag them over and drop them in the sd/movies directory on your tablet using windows explorer.
You can also just copy them over over the lan if you are using a file explorer on your table and can access your network.
I used es file explorer's built in FTP server. Turn it on and connect from your computer then copy wirelessly.

If you download a lot, then most formats won't work.
Download vplayer or another media player that will run them once on the device.
Or get an OTG cable to hook flash drives into it and download media import and use it that way.

Handbrake is also a good conversation program and it can it runs on win and mac
A good player is the mx player, it can even play more formats then the stock player and it has subtitle support
VLC player beta just got an update that fixes the random crashes on N7 devices. Been using this ever since

I would purchase a OTG cable, and use any memory stick or external hard-drive you may have.
Put your movies here, and play them from that.
If your rooted use - StickyMount
If not then use - NexusMediaImporter.
Could someone confirm the below,
Stickmount = read n write to USB drive (root)
nexus media importer = read only (non root)
Is that correct?

no idea about media importer but stickmount lets you read and write

That's correct. Latest version of importer supports ntfs which is good if you have a large mkv movie rip.
MX Player seems to work the best for me.

VLC lags a lot if you try to play 1080p video. MX player with hw+ decoder doesn't.

Does clearing the data and cache of MX Player help?
The way I see it, you have 3 options:
1. Contact the devs and wait for an update to MX Player which hopefully fixes this issue.
2. Return to 4.2.2.
3. Use another player for the time being.

There is a test version on their site, won't play 720p mkv or HD aac, if you need that though there is a vlc debug nightly that is pretty damn good. Good luck, from what I hear the devs from MX can be a bit slow on pushing fixes.
Try VLC

Got .avi file, stock player fails to play, iplayer fails and mx player isn't playing at all yet on 4.4.2

For avi, VLC Player works good. Use arm7, latest is at the bottom of the page.

You should use Mobo Player.. My Favorite...
After I have rooted my phone to 4.4 it doesn't include a reliable video player just a gallery one with built in video player, the thing is I'm not impressed on it so I'm searching for a good one. Can anyone suggest?
Thanks in advance guys.

Diceplayer is a favourite.
Moboplayer is very good 2 :highfive:
mx player
MX Player is the best, because you can just play everything

MxPlayer, by far...
+1 For MxPlayer!
Plays everything you'll ever want to play, has every feature you will ever need, and tons of features you never thought about and after you use will never be able to live without. On top of that, it's super stable, greatly optimized and as regular updates.
What more can you ask?
Dice player and Mx player are both very good, theres one called Vital player, use to use that one aswel, was really good back in the days on the desire lol.

I guess I would choose MX player instead since dice player keeps on closing whenever I play video
Thanks everyone. =)
