No no no no no. Why would you do that? Always see if you can charge it first, whether in recovery, chargeonly mode or bootmenu. Never go straight to a SBF flash.

Black screen after downgrade?

Hi I just downgraded my defy so that I could install the custom recovery but after flashing the sbf the phone won't even turn on. Is there any way this can be fixed?
The sbf I used is JDGC_U6_0.26.0_SIGNED_USAJRDNPRCB1B50AA02F.0R_JORDANGCCORE_P011_A023_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf
P.S.: The phone won't even charge. The only time when the led turns on is when it is connected to the computer.
There is no such thing as downgrade with Defy! Once a higher bootloader version sbf has been flashed you can never go back and flash one with a lower version (read the huge All-In-One guide in General section and pay attention to e-fuse).
Now you are stack with sbf's with boot loader version equal to or higher than the one of your previous sbf. I don't recommend flashing one with a higher BL version. Just go back to your previous SBF.
yep this happened to me the other day. As Auris said you cannot go backwards.
I had the same thing wouldnt display anything I figured out I had flashed to 231. Not sure what you had but flashing to the same BL version is the only way to get it to work.
Took a little of playing around with my phone till RSD light said it was connected but when it found it, It seemed to connect every time after even though there was nothing displayed on the screen.

Charge your battery out of the defy, i think your battery have too low voltage to enter the bootloader.
If your battery is still re-charged, try first a factoryreset.
If that does not work for you, try to flash a normally froyo-SBF.
AFAIK, you haved flashed a chinese SBF, maybe you can´t enter the Recoveryscreen, but BL should work. So make a blind flash with the recommended "normally froyo-SBF".

Had to sacrifice a USB cable but it worked. Thanks

so you got it working???
Mine wouldnt show any screen but If the USB was plugged in and I powered the phone on it would have the little white light in the top.
I plugged phone into USB. powered it on holding the volume up so you get into bootloader (this will not come up on screen, but RSD lite should see your phone).
From there you should be able to flash a new rom. I tried prob 5-6 roms before I found one that worked.

Milestone 2 Brick

hello all,
I have a big problem with my phone. I had CM9 and I wanted to go back to stock fw 2.3.4. I flashed the sbf file and now the screen is completely black, it goes into recovery in any way and even in boot mode. If I connect the phone to the PC, the LED lights next to the socket of the phone and this is recognized by RSD lite, but if I flash a sbf file, the situation remains the same, the phone stays with black screen
I need help,
sorry for my bad English, I'm Italian

Go to recovery, pressing both the X key on the keyboard and the power button, do not let go until you get to the big warning screen with the little android.
Press both volume buttons (or the @ key if it doesn't work) and select wipe data/factory reset (navigate with the volume key and the power button is the ok key, just like in CWM). Reboot.
Hope it helps. :good:
I'd like to add, make sure your battery is full, maybe you flashed the sbf file with low battery... that's very common, try to get a universal charger and charge your battery and try again, also, you have to flash the same sbf you had before CM9 or a newer one

I have 2 batteries and I think that both are full of charge because I charged them before flash...
Before this problem, i installed a vivo brazil rom, that had a problem: in the screen was only motorola logo, after I tried to install italian rom and now I have this problem..

I think that if you flashed 2.3.6 Vivo Brazil (M2L_U6_4.5.2_51-27_SIGNED_US1MILA2GBVIVBRB125LA003.0R_STABLE45LAMILETVIVBR_P011_A030_M002_HWp2a_Service1FF.sbf) you cannot go back to 2.3.4 Retail Italy, because Vivo is BL=4... That's the reason you have that black screen... You should flash Vivo again, wipe everything in Moto's recovery and then root it with Preinstalame Esta: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750277
More info here: http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
Good luck
Vivo Brazil 2.3.6 is a R01 firmware, you can only flash R01 firmwares now, you can't go back to neither retail Brazil 2.3.6 nor 2.3.4 or older roms, you have to flash a R01 firmware again, I'd recommend retail latam, which is R01 and it's rootable

Now I flashed vivo rom again but The phone does not go into recovery mod if I press @ when the screen appears the triangle with the android

Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758271
If you can't root it try Retail Latam 2.3.6 like Caesarivs said before: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...TRETLA_P005_A028_M001_HWp2a_Service1FF.sbf.gz
I'm glad you got your MS2 back :good:
I'm still waiting for my external charger to arrive (damn DX..) because I have exactly the same problem, RSD lite 5.6 detects it, flashes okay but when finished is says: PASS, and does completely nothing.. I hope I can do the same when my battery is charged and revive my MS2!
Thanks in advance.

I did it, first charged my battery with the external charger, then flashed the retail latam sbf and it worked immediately! I rooted it then with PreinstalameEsta which worked perfectly.

CM7.2 crashed and no boot

Hi I was running last CM7.2 on my Defy device and everything seems fine till now
I crashed on Camera app (half green screen appear and does not react at all) so I removed battery to restart it and from that time it does NOT even boot, it shows the google screen and that is all !
Do you have any advice what to do, for example how to flash the rom even it does not come to the boot menu?
Thanks very much.
Can you get into flash mode thing by putting usb in from computer hold volume up and turn it on because you could flash a new sbf with RSDLITE.

Deas nexus 4

Hello everyone,
I was doing an antutu test, and the phone just shut off yesterday. The battery was about 60% and then impossible to restart it. I then let it cool down 10mn then tried again with no luck. I plugged to the wall with original cable and plug and then a red flashing light was lit. I went to read online about this behaviour to find out it was (to some people say) due to battery being dead and had to wait to recharge a bit. I let charge for about 2h but there was no icon of battery charging on the screen. No need to mention that i have tried everything (holding power button for 60sec, holding volume down + power button etc etc) nothing was working. Then i read somewhere on this forum i had to press volume down + power THEN plug it into wall. I gave a try then it worked it went to recovery mode.... BUT BUT BUT once i tried to go to each option (start, restart bootloader, recovery mode), the phone was shutting down right away after the google image and again red flashing light... Bummer... So since it was getting into recovery mode i plugged it to pc and then followed the thread on how to reinstall stock rom etc etc. I followed steps but since i was already with a custom rom and kernel (PA+TRINITY) i used the toolboxkit because the command fastboot was not working in the command window. I did flashed the stock bootloader following what was supposed to be flashed first.Result.. Now no red flashing light, but nothing else either, no light, no power, no charging, no recovery mode, nothing... ANY ideas would be highly apreciated before i call google for an exchange.
Thanks to all for help.
What exactly do you plan on telling Google?
How did you flash only the bootloader??
Did you try the toolkit to reflash stock???

Well since it does nothing else anymore i was going to tell them the truth besides the part it had another custom rom and kernel and i started the toolkit and i placed the 6 stock .img int he right folder then i started by flashing the bootloader and was waiting for reboot to flash the rest of the images like it is mentionned on the thread on this forum.
I used the toolkit to flash the bootloader but now the phone is dead completly. No light flashing, no battery icon, it is plugged on the wall and i get no power in it.. This is why im stuck before trying to flash stock rom and wipe all datas...
If you have any idea... i take it gladly!! but im not very used with toolkit so i dont seem to know how to wipe all datas besides flashing stok data image?? but the question is hos to get power back in phone now???
thank you for your precious help
anyone else???
i have exactly the same
check my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050811
i flashed custom rom and kernel
bat was at 98%, putted it into my pocket, one hour later i put it out, used to unlock the screen, bamm nothing anymore since then
i am not even managed to get it into recovery
no solution worked for me
i have no idea what happend to my device, ic alled google cause i really think its an hardware issue..

[Q] Another bricked Defy Plus + General Questions

Hello and happy holidays!
I have recently bought a Defy+ and i wanted to root after about 2 weeks of use mostly for removing some bloadware and killing ads and more thingies...
As you can guess from this thread title i freaking bricked it...
So let me tell you what i have done until now.
A)I followed this one
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82806
so i can flash it because no program like SuperOneClick was working.
My baseband was somewhere in the mid of these 2 (something like 60 i can't recall anymore)
According to some posts there even another one with my baseband could follow the second procedure
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595013 ) and end up with a rooted defy+.
I flashed it and was the screen stayed black... Well at the time i could thing that this was bad... I flashed the other 2 and i was waiting in vain...
B) after this complete failure came the funny part... I DONT REMEMBER anything about my stock sbf  ... Seriously it didnt cross my mind to write it down.
So i started trying to flash it with the Unbrick your Defy+ guides.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828639
Tried the site http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php
i even tried this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820282 in case it had a good effect. Well it hadnt
Until now i am still in the company of a lovely black screen...
MY CONDITION NOW :
RSD 5.6 at first before B step went to 5.9.
1) Insert battery = black screen
2)Power button = black screen
3)Power button pressed with VOL + or - , insert battery = black screen!
4)My pc (win7) finds the phone + White Led
5)RSD detects it cause i can flash it. (about 10 times now...)
6)Phone can be charged (Thank you God)
7)Every single one sbf goes Finished- PASS...
Some more information.
- I am from Greece and the Rom used Greek(localization stuff)
- The Rom had Blur (God Damn it)
- Android was 2.3.6
/EDIT
-RSD report that i have Bootloader version v0x000910 on phone...
Android Play store reports my Defy+ as "Vodafone Motorola MB526". (Should i go for Vodafone singed packages?)
I have read almost any thread for the broken Defy+ but the real problem is that i can not recall my stock sbf
And the questions from here...
a) Is there a way to see my bootloader version while in this messed up state? (and does it even matter?)
b) If it was a Vodafone Blur there would some dinstict features i could have seen? ( so i can start flashing vodafone sbf again...)
c) http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php has only full sfb right?
d) Suppose i had a v6 sfb,If i tried a higher sfb version wouldnt the phone worked?
e) I have tried all the http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php that is Retail Central Europe (GR_SIGN) but i have failed should i tried them again?
-EDIT- (forgot questions after my chrome crashed)
f) Should i try all 2.3.6 Roms from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
g) DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.x . This x does it play any role? If anything fails should i try the last chinese one(DFPRC_U_4.5.3) ?
I am sorry for the long post but i am a little at loss here...
Thank you for your time even if you have just read all this and dont know anything

Well i tried about 6 sbf with dfp 231. From DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CN that is used for bl7 root (the first one that made the black screen my lovable partner) to British/retail CEE/unknown/ o2 / vodafone /german / nordic and nothing happened. All Finish /pass and all black screen + white led.
RSD report that i have Bootloader version v0x000910 on phone. I hope this can help in some way...
I decided to try all the 2.3.6 sbfs... let's see...
Hm...
i just flashed
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-312_TMOUK_SIGN_USADEFYEMARAB1B8TMDE011.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRTMDE_P029_A033_M008_Service1FF
and phone stuck at reboot manually your phone. and now is dead. Cant connect to pc. nice...
You may have ran out of battery. If the dfp 231 flashing resulted in a black screen after a data wipe then you should try selecting the blank flash option. Also try a different cable. If still there's a problem then it'd reckon it's hardware failure
About the boot loader code, yeah it's fine but unfortunately is no help

My speculations was also that i am out of battery so i ordered an external battery charger from ebay just to be sure.( i have seen the mcgyer way but i am afraid to do it cause everything are going south at the moment so just to be sure )
I have also came across the idea of the factory cable. From the threads here in xda there is a user who actually tried one on a defy (MB525) so i am thinking of ordering one of these.

Wait.Factory cable loads directly the bootloader while Mcgwer trick just gives power to the phone.
And i think factory cable its safer when you use it because the phone is actually waits to be given a 5V supply in that pin and there is not a chance of frying anything,
I think... :S
