Hi
I recently got the app update notifier and noticed that lots of my standard app are not up to date.
The problem is i can't update them through the store, since there is no option.
Is there a way i can update them without the store?
I tried to download music hub, but won't install it.
Phone is not rooted

Usually opening the "Samsung Apps" app will give you a notification to upgrade the other built in Samsung apps. Also, make sure you are signed into your Samsung acct in the acct settings.

Actually, he asked a question and all questions go in Q&A which is where he posted. Next time don't be such a noob and jumping on someone for posting in the correct section.

no he works for them, he is trying to get people to use the trial so that they will buy it after it expires. Because he knows a lot of people come back to xda to check to see if their is an easier way to root for unrooted incredibles. I don't think this belongs in the development. if anything it should be in the app section.
Thread moved to General.
Devs just thought I would let you all know that there is an update to superuser and busybox.
maybe post the link next time,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
thread is pretty useless without it.
also, this probably doesnt belong in this section
Where is the new busybox? I got the new Su.

Thank you very much I thought I did I guess it didnt take??/ hhmm weird. Anyhow again thank you for posting the link.
As for busybox I'm not sure whats new its just been updated like 3-4 times compared to what most devs are using
Busybox is on the market sorry. Can't find a thread with a link

If you ever want to know which forum.
if you want to just chit chat = General
If you are asking any kind of question....ANY unless about a specifc ROM or app which would go in the specific rom or app thread.not a new thread = Q&A
What to discuss Accessories = Accessories
If you are developing something on your own or with group help = Development
If you created/found a theme or app = Theme or App.
I am not a thread police but thought this would be helpful but this thread probably should have been in the Theme and App thread. Dont create a new one. A mod will move it.
i got this A WHILE AGO from twitter lol
Busybox is in the market. Thanks @stericson for making this readily available aside from titanium.

I'm expecting my epic any day now
studying the site for the last few days and came across this :
youtube.com/watch?v=GPrcdbIuWaU
does anyone know which ROM this actuallly is?
thanks!
Hey thanks for joining XDA.
Unfortunately I don't know what ROM that is, but I'm sure someone here will come up with the answer.
And just a heads up (not to pick on but to inform) please post future question threads like these in the General forum. The Development forum is for specifically discussing development. I know there are a lot of bad examples already but the more we can prevent the quicker that will change.
Judging by the title, you're asking because it appears to be HTC Sense UI. It unfortunately is not. It's just a "theme". You can tell by the lockscreen and the system info screen he calls up. It's Froyo build DJ29 (which is one of the Froyo build leaks on this forum). You can however achieve this look even on a stock Epic. The weather clock and some of the toggle widgets (vibrate, wifi, etc) are Beautiful Widgets from the market. The dock and calendar widget are part of LauncherPro, also from the market. Both apps have themes you can download that emulate that HTC Sense UI look. The live wallpaper is Nexus Revamped (you guessed it, from the market). Have fun with your new Epic!

Isn't this the section General for his phone relating to the Samsung Epic 4g?
Thanks los1223. When you say 'stock Epic' do you mean a unrooted Epic with just a simple theme change? .... can't wait to get the Epic... should be here tomorrow...

Yes. You can install the launcher pro app and the beautiful widgets app and theme them. They do not require root to install/customize.
Again, welcome to the community.
I recently installed 2.5.7 and most everything is great. My current issue is that without GPS turned on, nothing will read my location. Things like Flixster and the News/Weather app that came with the handset. Do I need to download something that was taken out ala Swype or Voice Search?

You should probably put this question in the Fission thread in order to help the Fission Devs fix any problems.

I figured that but I don't have the 10+ necessary posts to post in a development thread. It told me to ask here.

Oh, you were in the fission thread here within the android development sub section and it wouldn't let you post? or were you trying to add a new thread with your issue? if it's the first one then I think there is a flaw with XDA's new posting scheme.
Yep, that's the thread I was in. I've been frequenting it for a while now, I just never needed to post anything. When I click on reply in that thread, I get this.
Goldfoot, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Please Read: New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums. The developer forums are intended for experienced users and developers to discuss ways to improve technical aspects related to ROMs and Software. While you may be an expert, we ask ALL users to avoid posting questions about using or installing ROMs and software in the Development Forums. To encourage this new Users can read but not post in these forums.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.

Oh. Well I would assume a reinstall of the ROM will fix it. Or maybe even try SBF'ing your phone if you came from a different ROM or have flashed many ROMs and haven't SBF'd yet.
If someone else hasn't posted anything about it then it's most likely with your set up and reinstalling usually fixes things. Maybe even PM Angdroid but it seems like he hasn't been on recently so...see if we can't get some posts under your belt in this thread discussing the problem so you can post in the Fission thread.
Also if you have a theme on sometimes reverting to a version of your setup with out that theme might fix an issue.
Well, I fixed the issue. This wasn't a huge issue so I didn't really look into it but a few days ago I was going to use some app that needed location info. It took me to the location settings of the phone, which I'd been to many times before, and I still had it checked to use wireless networks. Just to see what would happen I turned it off and then reloaded the app. It took me back to the settings page and I re-checked the option. After that it brought up the screen where I agree to allow the phone to determine my location and now it works.
Conclusion: The ROM has the option checked by default, but this is an issue because it doesn't give you a chance to actually agree to the terms, and thus the option isn't actually active. At least, that's how it was on mine.
I am running cleanGB 1.0.3.
How to I eliminate the notification to update to EL30? My phone wants to do an OTA update.
I feel stupid, but I don't see where to disable this.
1. try to let it install. the phone will reboot with an error.
2. at that point pull the battery, put it back in and restart the phone.
you should not get prompted again.
Also read one of the other 10 threads instead of starting a new one. Thanks.

Had I found such a thread searching EL30, I would not have started a new thread. Obviously that was not the magic word.
I did find a lot of other useful information.

There are 4 right on the top page of General and 2 on the top page of Q&A. If you just open XDA and look you will see. Thanks.
oops. I was searching the entire forum and came up w/ too much info.
Should have looked in the obvious place first! My bad.

AH! That explains it. That search sucks. Pretty much all hot topics are usually in the first 10-15 threads in General. Then it leaks a little over to Q&A. I came home a little grouchy from work, sorry.
