Hi, sorry if its been asked before but is there a rom that is close to stock android? If so which is it?
Thanks

Why don't you just stay with the stock ROM?
Think the op was asking closest to stock android not stock sgs2
Cm7 looks like stock but has loads of extra goodness. Not for beginners and its still a wip but still.. well its ace the devs are doing magic stuff

Yeah I tried cm on my desire hd it was quite good but always went back to sense as I liked it, but in my opinion touchwiz is a bit more stock androidy feel to it rather than sense , so wanted to go all out and just try out stock android , so the cm rom, is it available yet? Obviously not stable I take it??
Oh I would also like to ask if someone can tell me is what's the difference between cm stable and nightly builds??
I think I can assume what stable means but never knew what a nightly build was??
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Its not 'stable' yet for sgs2 in fact the first nightly only came out today.
Stable releases are known quantities I.e set milestones whereas nightly builds have commits added as they're submitted... nature of the beast some will fix stuff some might cause issues. Pot luck.
Stick with stable builds (there isn't one for sgs2 yet) if you want something rock solid without the occasional gremlin or two.
I quite like touchwiz but always run launcherpro so rarely bump into tw!

Sorry but I'm searching from my phone and don't have much time.
I'm looking for a stock rooted ROM with some kinds of tweaks possibly the bubbles removed and debloated.
I'm giving this phone to my daughter but I'm not going to see her for a while and need the phone to work a 100% or at least as close ad possible.
Any suggestions would be great.

StockMOD....seems nice. You looking for pure stock and rooted? Here.
I'm sure if this question has been asked previously but I can't seem to find it anywhere so here goes...
Which ICS rom would you say is the most stable? I would like to put an ICS rom on sister's phone. Or should she just go with another rom all together??
Please don't flame me for this question, I'm still a noob at this stuff
Thanks for any advice/recommendations.
There is no 'best' ROM..all on personal preferance. If you never use bluetooth, then one ROM might be more 'stable' than the other. If you do use bluetooth, then the other ROM might be more 'stable'. All on what your sister needs her phone to do. If it's just texting, calling, and facebook, any ICS ROM will do. Press thanks if I helped

She use her bluetooth all the time plus she plays alot of games too. Which would be the best for her? I was reading somewhere that there was a problem with low mic, I think I can't remember where I read that.

Depends on what she likes in a ROM as I said before. Many ROMs support bluetooth. For instance, unofficial CM9 here has bluetooth, but so does zips ROM here. I'd go with zips personally.

@g33kchic
I agree with invasion2 I have only tryed two of them but you should really do allot of reading on the different ones and make sure of things as far as how often the rom is updated. These roms are supper new so they have some strange non stock things that pop up from time to time I don't like to say bugs because most of these guys/gals do this as a hobbies and well things happen. So unless your ready to constantly be helping her with her phone you might think about doing to yours first. Just a FYI wish you well.

Which would you recommend putting on her phone? She likes the way ICS looks that's why I was looking for a stable one for her. Looking for stability for her as well everything functioning camera, bt, games etc.
Euroskank cm 7.1 has some ics looks to it. Top it off with either go locker or widget locker for lock screen replacement.
Edit: download from rom manager would be the fastest way to find it.

I'd recommend TDJ's CM7 kang, and to get the ICS look, download an ICS CM7 theme, GO Launcher EX, and an ICS theme for GO Launcher EX. Set the lockscreen to Ring unlock in CM settings, and pick the Holo ring style. It's a really ICS heavy look while still retaining all the functionality and stability of GB.

I don't think the free version allow you to see the roms? I tried and it said I have to have the premium version.

I'd go with zips ROM, haven't run into any force-closes at all. Plus the aroma installer is great to have her there to see what apps you want pre-installed such as Angry Birds Space and other random goodies. It's extremely smooth and there's no low-mic issue. Just flash the camera patch that's in the OP of the zips thread ICS ROM after installing to fix the green line on the camera.

Your recommendation doesn't make sense for someone not familiar with flashing roms or rooting.
Do yourself a favor and stick with gingerbread cm7 or sense 3.0.

Hey eq I tried this rom for sister yesterday it starting acting weird where it kept showing the boot animation screen and my sister was kinda upset because she lost some important text she needed.
what I wanted to ask you before I wiped it I did a backup to see if we could maybe go back to retrieve her text messages but tried that but still no go with that.
Do you recommend any other stable rom that would be good for her?
Also do you know if text messages can be retrieved from a backup in cwm?
I know this is a lot but any help or direction would be greatly appreciated

What you should have done before even booting into recovery, for future reference, is made a backup of everything with Titanium Backup. Then you could have restored your messages to any ROM you wanted.

I have found the unofficial build of the ICS rom to be the most stable soo far. Everything seems to be functional and I havent had any issues with it. My phone literally is like 5 times faster than when i first got it. My battery likfe has tripled adter installing the shots of awesomeness kernel.
Man this thing is dope. I dont know if youre at all interested in what I have to say but if you are, please check out the link in the bottom, because these guys who made this deserve some credit for their hard work.

Give it a try, you wont be disappointed. Just maek sure to root your phone and everything before actually installing the rom, but im sure you already know this so theres no need for me to be telling it to you.
But yeah, everything is functional on this rom, you wont be disappointed... trust me
Ok so I don't actually own the my touch, my girlfriend has it, her first one we got maybe back in may? But anyways, it was a piece of ****, all stock of course, she doesn't want me hacking her phone lol. I figured maybe it was just her phone and called tmobile and eventually ended up getting a replacement.. well turns out this is just as big of a piece of ****, hardware wise the phone should run very nicely, would rooting and installing a custom fix most of her issues (which are too long to list atm) and if so, what is the recommended rom? I do know she would like to stay with a GB rom, any advice would be appreciated.

Well, if she does have an HTC myTouch 4G, there are several choices.
One is a the stock rooted ROM w/ any one of several custom kernels.
Another is Android Revolution HD. There are two versions in the dev section, both of which are in the same thread and are great.
Energy ROM is also good, but she may not care for the look.
Also, there is InsertCoin v1.7.1. I'm running that one now and really like it.
Edit: Bas3balman and I are shamelessly promoting the port our team released. Haha.

No insurance and $200 later, here I am, having to make a warranty claim because HTC screwed up while putting my phone back together.

Rooted but I staid on stock for a pretty long time until revone came along. I only used that to solve a bad kernel wakelock I was experiencing and knew was fixed in 4.2.2. I wanted to go to stock 4.2.2 but can't since now my device is s-off usage reporting to HTC is on and can't be turned off and that is causing bad battery drain too.
But I think all in all the One is so good out of the box there isn't really a big reason to root....
Rooted just cause I'm deeply in love with ARHD. LOL

It's nice to have a play & see all the lovely tweaks that are acheived with custom roms.
But I think stock has got that good on the One, that as far as day to day tasks & running go there isn't much between stock & custom. But it's sure nice to have a choice & I thanks all the great guys who do the custom roms :good:

AOSP didn't brick your phone. I'm pretty sure you didn't know what you where doing.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
There have been a few bricks on aosp and a few bricks with custom roms that I've read about, I believe that the problem is just random faults HTC, can't expect to have so much going on in a phone, mass produce it on a large scale and not have some phones shutting off permanently for unknown reasons. Sorry for ot. I rooted to see what my one is capable of, tried nearly every Rom but now I'm very content with a stock custom rom that allows me to modify and personalise everything that want
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I'm stock and unrooted but planning to root after warranty time/no OTAs I love rooting and flashing (got a HTC Desire before and changed it every week ) but always take the OTAs until HTC announce there are no further updates anymore.
I'm pretty satisfied with the One unrooted though. Maybe only (real) negative aspect so far is decreased battery life compared to rooted devices.

Rooted mostly because ARHD did it for me automatically. Greenify is really the only app I use that requires root.
Stock
Spent ages going through ARHD/CM/AOSP roms and all that craic only to end up on a stock rom on the Sensation and had much the better experience on Stock.
Haven't rooted the ONE as i just really don't think it needs it (for me) and so far, i have been proved correct.
Rooted.
Why? So I can clean up the crap I don't want that they schlep into /system, and for tether.
