Can anyone tell me what these are? - Hardware Hacking General

The two brass contact points just to the bottom-left of the battery. It's a Samsung galaxy S3 sgh-I747 (AT&T)
I haven't put my multimeter on them yet, but willing to bet they are charging ports.if so I'm going to try to make a docking station for it.
Thanks in advance.

Does the s3 have nfc capability? Those look quite a lot like the connections to the backing where the nfc is actually mounted.

Yes it does have nfc built in. But this hardly looks like an antenna to me.

The antenna would be on the back cover, those are just the connections between the phone hardware and the antenna on the back.
Sent from my HTC One SV using xda premium

That would make sense, except that the back cover of the S3 is just plain flimsy plastic.

^ is right. That's for WiQiQi Wireless Charger Kit, there's a video.

That's what I thought initially, but I don't think so. The solder points for the flex cable antennas are smaller than the contacts the OP is pointing out.
I busted this part but the phone still works so I'm trying to figure it out

Does your speaker still work?
It definitely is antenna. Not sure which one...
From IFixit:
Standing out on the board:
Several rows of pressure contacts connecting the antennas to the logic board.
The vibrator motor for...well...vibrating.
8 Megapixel camera sensor.
Battery connector.
The other side of the board is about as featureless as it can be.
Speaker works fine just missing one of those contacts but don't know what its for

I've had them break at work and no one ever knew the difference. I'll take a look under the back housing tomorrow just to see.
Thanks alot I would appreciate any feedback

Yea, you were right after all. Good to know, as I'm looking for the antennas to fix and sell my previous phone.
aimbdd: I hadn't come across that tear-down yet. That's a good one and will come in handy. Thanked.
Still no issues found

Do you use wifi Bluetooth and 4g? You probably don't notice because it is only one of the points at which that antenna connect to the phone.
Yep all working well

you really won't have any issues man, it's just one of like 4 places the antenna connects to the motherboard. i've seen several like that and until now, none have reported issues.
Thanks a lot man

Galaxy Note II hardware question

Hello guys, i currently noticed when i press at the top of the phone (right about where the canceling mic is) it makes a crack sound, like if top part of the galaxy note 2 is a little flemsy. Can anybody try and let me know if your noteII makes any type of noise when you press at the top of the phone?

It looks like the sound of the legendary Samsung build quality.
I suggest you go to your service center and have the people check it out for you.

Mine had a 1mm gap between the bezel and the screen near the power button. I took it back to the supplier, they gave it a push and it locked back in.
I felt like a twit
Not noises on mine.

Removable back piece?

Does anyone have any idea where the top part of the back plate is removable? Seems a little weird as there isn't anything under it.
My only thoughts are that it could be a place to store the SIM if they bring out a 3G version, or its for some sort of official case which would clip into this
its for the case to attach on dude

I don't think you can change the front casing without the screen since it's one piece like you said. You might be able to sperate them with some prying but it probably won't seat very well when installed again and plus you'll have to buy a screen with the front casing because I really doubt anyone sells them sperate.

No I found a website that sells it with the screen or just the front because I don't wanna spend 200$ just for casing but thank you

[Q] I am looking for a Slim Extended Battery

The stock battery is a 2600mAh battery. I'm looking for something more than that but yet fits with the stock backplate. Anyone know of one?
Zero Lemon makes an extended that fits inside of stock cover. Its a 3000ma. Always had great products from them, too.

Thanks! From what I understand though NFC won't work with that battery. So I would need something else.
Good luck, hope you find it!
