[Q] 4.3 and Fitbit Flex - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone able to confirm or deny that the Fibit Flex or other Bluetooth smart device is working with the 4.3 update? I couldn't get my fitbit to work with the 4.3 leak and was hoping official would help. Thanks!

It's been said the the Fitbit app has been hardcoded to work only with certain devices. I think some users have even tried to edit the build.prop to spoof another phone and it didn't work. I think you'll have to wait for Fitbit to update their app. Maybe you should contact them and push for Nexus 4 support. I'm sure a lot of Flex owners are doing the same!

I feared as much. I will definitely push for an update then! I just hope they don't have some sort of annoying deal with Samsung.

Same for the Galaxy S4 on 4.3

Sorry about posting to an old thread.
Has anyone had any luck with getting it working now? Apparently the app has been updated and it does work, it's just 'unsupported' (meaning they won't offer support if you have problems).

I know it's not terribly helpful for the Nexus 4 (and this is the Nexus 4 forum, but I digress) but it's working quite well on the Galaxy S4 GE now. Prior to the app update, there was no way to communicate between the phone and the flex. Now, it's working just as well as the iPhone app.
Good luck!

So fibit and nexus, worked?

I don't think so. And when I was on my S3, it would only work on stock ROMs.

just modify the /system/build.prop file so that:
change the
ro.product.model=GT-I9505G
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
and save those settings, reboot, and now Fitbit will try to sync now. I used the Build Prop Editor from JRummy. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor

both the instructions and the editor worked great for me.
I've set it to manual sync only though since fitbit did say background sync broke after 2 days on the N4, will be interesting to see how it goes from here.

This build.prop method works but it breaks Auto focus on the camera....... Damn,..... Why is this taking so long to support the N4?

Running 10.2 on my big red S3, changed the value to 9505,
And it still will not pair. It shows up as available, but that's it
Any ideas?

Well, deleted old apk, installed new, double checked that Build prop value says GT-I9505G, but I still get the "cannot communicat with" error message.

XDA Fitbit App
One xda dev (see link) updated the latest version of the Fitbit app (1.8.1 as of the time of this writing) to skip the device check and sync anyways. Worked great on my T-Mobile Galaxy S3 running LiquidSmooth (CM 10.2) and is reported as working on devices:
- Google Nexus 4
- Google Nexus 7
- Galaxy Nexus (some firmwares require additional BTLE drivers)
- LG G2
- HTC One
- Samsung Note 3
- Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 (custom ROMs)
I can finally set the silent alarm without having to go to my PC! Haven't seen any issues so far, but it appears that you'll want to disable background syncing (I'm guessing it drains your battery more than usual if you leave that enabled?)

Help!
I got a LG G2 D-802 International (From Denmark), with CM 10.2 latest nightly, and i am unable to get this to work.
1. If i go to Bluetooth i can see my Flex device, but it cant connect.
2. When i open the Fitbit app i get the sync option, and it seems like its trying, however it never establishes a connect.
3. I have reset my Fitbit Flex several times.
Can anyone help me, or hint towards a solution?

Galaxy S III Android Beam with Nexus 7

Hello everyone I had a question about the Android Beam feature. It seems I cannot beam photos from my Galaxy S III T-Mobile to my Nexus 7. When I try, a thing pops up on the N7 saying that there was a new incoming tag, but no picture pops up and I can't click on it.

I have read of people having trouble sending photos even when other stuff sends. I haven't tried photos but I'll try it later and see if it works for me.

Try lining up the Samsung logo on the back of the S3 with the nexus logo on the back of the N7

What ROM are you running on the gs3? Stock or cm10? If its stock then that should be ICS and the send pics and vids via android beam wasn't added until jelly bean..
if you want to connect from android device to android device there's one (and only one) app to do it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.budius.WiFiShoot
this was developed by yours truly, and I did exactly because I noticed there was nothing to make it work.
I tested it between Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus, Asus TF300 and Galaxy SII (stock ICS) and all worked fine.
The most problematic of those were the Galaxy Nexus that not always want to connect, but between N7-GalaxySII was flawless.
At the moment the app just works for photo and video but I'll be expanding more, if you guys fancy helping spreading the word about it, I'm really looking forward to see the downloads explode on it.

S Beam and Android Beam are different technologies that were never meant to work together:
S Beam = NFC + WiFi Direct. Is Samsung proprietary and only works with SGSIII at the moment.
Android Beam = NFC + Bluetooth. Is Google developed (not sure if open or close) and only works with Jellybean devices at the moment.
There's the older version of the Android Beam that was NFC because of NFC slowness it does not transfer photos at all.
Android beam is also on SGS3, not just sbeam. I need to do some digging to find out what all android beam is capable of.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
Seems Android beam is based off of NDEF messages which are text codes that are primarily for sharing contacts, and web/YouTube video URLs.

Hi guys,
is anyone with interested in beta test my WiFi Direct app?
I started a new thread in the development section asking for Logcats if you're experiencing force close.
Also it's a cut down version of the .apk there to test part of the system.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30012554
any help will be great appreciated.
thanks.
So I had the same issue, all you need to do is turn of SBeam on the GS3 so that only NFC Beam is on for both devices. Open a photo, touch the backs of the devices and boom, it works. Apparently if you have both SBeam and NFC Beam on, SBeam gets tricked into thinking it is being called upon when in fact the Nexus 7 is initiating NFC Beam. Once SBeam is off, NFC Beam is all the devices use and all runs smothly.
Hope this helps!
What about YouTube or contacts? Can you beam them?

Nexus 4 Bluetooth Problem

Perhaps it's just me being stupid, but no matter what I try, I can't get the bluetooth on my Nexus 4 to work.
If I try and send a file from my Nexus, it simply says "Bluetooth share: File [file name] not sent". If I try to send a file to my Nexus, from my laptop for example, my laptop simply cannot find my Nexus.
Obviously, the bluetooth is on and it's set to visible, but I just cannot transfer files to or from it. At first I thought it may have been a software issue and would be resolved with the latest 4.2.2 update, but it still doesn't work.
Any advice?
Bump.
Same problem here.
I received my N4 yesterday. I can't get the Bluetooth to work at all!
My Bluetooth headset is not visible, I can't share files with an other phone or PC.
I'm running Android 4.2.1.
I hope the lastest 4.2.2 is going to come quick and solve my problem.
EDIT 2:45 : I updated to 4.2.2 and my BT still not works! I called Google Play's support, the problem is not known. I asked for an exchange which I await confirmation. I'm cursed.

Please update the thread if you receive a working replacement.
I've had mine for 2 months, but I hadn't tried using the bluetooth until a couple of days ago.
I had my Nexus 4 since early December, and my Bluetooth always worked....until I upgraded to PanaroidAndroid 3+ (it worked fine when it was 2.99).
I use my Bluetooth everyday, so this is kind of a pain. Are you on a Rom, or are you having issues with a stock Nexus 4?

Sorry to bump the old thread. I just got my nexus yesterday . I am facing the same Bluetooth problem. I can only transfer files via Bluetooth after a restart. After some time Bluetooth never connects . Tried sending files from multiple devices but to no avail. I reside in India. So sending back the device would not be a better option to me since it would take too much of a cost to get it shipped from here and back. Well i gotta flash a stock image again and see if the problem still exists. A little bit confused and lost
This might not work for you guys at all...but who knows.
If you are using any type of battery saving app, disable it first, restart, and see if BT works for you. My Go Power Master messes up my BT all the time.
Sorry for bumping the old thread . But i have same problem with my Bluetooth. The file transfer works only the first time after restarting my device. The second time it simply fails. None of the devices can send me a file via Bluetooth. Anybody found a solution yet for this ?
I just got my nexus from the US 2 days back. And sending it back for a replacement would be a huge problem since i stay in India.
Any solutions or suggestions would be very helpful.

I had this issue while I was stock and just out of box 1 month ago with a brand new pair of s10 Motorola's BT headset. I had wound up turning both on and off over and over till I got it. I guess its just lg? Or nexus 4 build with 4.0 BT I think it is anyway. Which I had on another device I preffered the 3.+ over the newest BT ...anyway try turning off both and back on several times. Sometimes now I have to hard reset the s10s
Edit..both units new

Internet Problems Nexus 4.

The March 8, 2013, I bought in google play, 2 mobile devices Nexus 4. I bought them because it was a model powered by google and I thought it was going relatively well.
I've been very disappointed with this phone. The whatsapp, emails, lines, gtalk, etc. have a latency impressive. Some whatsapp slow to go over 20 minutes! When you send line messages, get a shipping error and you have to give forward constantly. I tested and in 4 different operators: Amena, Orange, Movistar and Telstra, and none works well. Say it clear, that the APN is configured properly (I assure you). In fact, this same setup I've tried the other 4 terminals, HTC Wildfire, Galaxy Ace, Iphone 4 and Galaxy s2, and all works correctly. In contrast, in the Nexus 4 is grief. I do not know what to do, I can not contact Google to return the phone and give me a solution either.
Does anyone in this respectable forum knows how solve this serious problem with the nexus 4? Are there any hidden settings to solve this internet problem?
I would do very happy if guys could give me a solution to this problem because the phone I liked a lot, but if I can not find any solution, I will have to get rid of it.

id say that you are having app issues, not nexus 4 issues. i dont use whatsapp, i use gmail for emails, and gtalk all work great on my end. try factory resetting your devices.
Tough luck. Now, sell it to someone who will flash CM on it and appreciate it's glory.

Impossible
Since I did one factory reset on both phones and installed cm10 one of the devices, but the problem persists. As I said in the previous thread, I've tried with several telephone companies with APN configured correctly. On other phones like the galaxy ace or htc wildfire running, but in the nexus 4 posts slow to arrive between 10 and 20 minutes.
I think I'll have to buy another phone.
Someone offered me a good deal for both phones?

I think you can flash it without rooting or unlocking your bootloader, or you can simply unlock then flash then lock your bootloader again. There are some instructions here. You can try it without unlocking your bootloader first, and if that fails, unlock it temporarily. Flashing like this WILL DEFINITELY wipe your data, including /sdcard, so backup to computer.

This is definitely a software or radio problem, because it wasn't an issue in the earlier versions of Android. Furthermore, installing a custom kernel like Harsh mitigates the problem. I hope the next version of Android will fix this, but I'm worried the Google engineers don't even know about it. I think it's provider-related, and this problem may not exist in the US.

That would be sad, but you gotta do what you gotta do. The next version of Android is expected to be released in about 3 weeks. You could return the phone and buy it again when you know this issue is fixed. Or you could wait. (But if you wait too long, do you lose your right to return the phone? It is defective, so in your country you probably have pretty strong rights in this area.)

Are you absolutely sure that:
1. You had a problem where outgoing data was delayed by up to a minute (in all applications, not just WhatsApp)?
2. You did not change service providers or plan or SIM card?
3. The wipe solved your problem and messages are now sent immediately?
I'd like to try this if it helps, but it's a huge effort. Thanks!

2. Yes, I'm sure. I probe 4 service providers: Amena, Orange, Yoigo and Symio.

[Q] Delayed Notifications in Nexus 4 - Really a 4.2.2 problem?

First of all, I'm sorry because I know this is a recurrent topic, but I have my Nexus 4 for less than a week and the only issue (a big one) is these delayed notifications.
I've asked in more than a place about it and everyone say it is a 4.2.2 problem.
My question is why this does not happen in my Galaxy S3 with Cyanogen 10.1 (ie, android 4.2.2)? Any ideas?
I'm also currently using Cyanogen 10.1 in my Nexus 4, but problem persists. I got it while using stock too.
PS: I have installed Push Notification Fixer and set interval to 5 minutes. Delay remains.
This is a known problem for the nexus 4.
My old galaxy s is also running 4.2.2 and does not have this problem.
The problem is at Googles side.
However, you could try to flash a kernel with the wifi notification fix.
Link
I personally have not tried it yet.
Well, the S3 will have different WiFi drivers, for a start.

I have this problem over 3G as well
Well, so it's a Nexus problem, not a 4.2.2 problem. That makes sense!

[Q] Google Wallet on a Rooted phone

Ok, I've tried to get Google Wallet on my rooted S4 without asking too many questions, but I'm not sure if I'm messed with the system too much or not but regardless of what I do I am unable to get the NFC portion of Google Wallet working. I am running MDL and have frozen SE on the system.
I did try to follow the information on how to get it to work for the S3 and the S4 on AT&T but I am either missing a step or am really bad at getting simple things to work. Does this work on a rooted S4? Are the steps even the same? How can I learn more about this without running and asking questions for every little problem I have? (last one is really just more of a frustrated question).
If anyone could take a few minutes to point me into the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. If it can't be done, I understand (and may be relieved as sad as that sounds).

I have Google wallet installed. It says "unsupported device" but it works on my rooted phone. Wallet may not work on AT&T but it works on Sprint.
What rom/kernel are you on? I'm using agat (64gb exfat works great!) and kuban rom and google wallet does not even launch for me.

I actually have Sprint, but have been reading the other forums just incase my questions can be answered by a little research.
The problem I have is that it still says unsupported device but when I go to scan against an NFC reader (IE like those at CVS) it doesn't transmit anything. I turn my phone on, open it, and even open google wallet but nada.

Stock (MDL) rooted rom. I have frozen a few services /apps and removed the Sprint scumware that was installed along with a few samsung apps, but haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Crawrj actually posted a fix for the Google Wallet issues on rooted Mdl but has taken it down since he baked it into the MDl rom. I think I still have the zip to fix the issue on my computer, so I'll put a link here in a bit

Thanks man.. I'll have to check it out in 8 hours when I get home.
I installed his zip file. It does start up now, but says unsupported device.
Try reinstalling it, and then see if it fixes it. If that doesn't work, I'll search the threads for some solutions.

Is there a fix for the unsupported device? The above file is for deodexed ROMs.
Specifically I am rooted stock, and would like to see some love.
It does the same for me but I think mine is working... it's really weird. I wasn't able to find a fix yet so hopefully someone might be able to help us out.

I actually may have stumbled upon the fix using NottachXposed. Basically I just installed Wallet as normal and attached my account, then I went to NottachXposed›Applications›checked Google Wallet hack and rebooted. I have used Wallet 2x since doing so at 7-11 and at CVS. Nag screen does not show and my purchases went through.

Maybe you're broke?
<- Not helpful.
Actually, dumb question, but you do have a valid fund source set up in the app?

Can I have some money?
Can any one confirm Wallet working on Rooted stock? Mine is displaying "unsupported device", but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
