Hello
I'm thinking of buying the international Galaxy S4 i9505 and use it on T-Mobile here in the USA (rather than the T-Mobile m919 variant) ...I am aware that i9505 doesn't have HSPA on AWS band and that's fine because most of my area has T-Mobile LTE which works on the 1700/2100 MHz band (band 4)...
Does anyone from the USA use i9505 on T-Mobile and get LTE ?
Another thing, is it possible to flash m919 radio on the international i9505 to have the lacking LTE bands if any ?
A note : according to gsm arena,i9505 has APQ8064T but couldn't find what chipset the T-Mobile m919 has...If they use the same chipset it would be likely possible to interchange radios between the 2 I suppose...
Any ideas are welcomed..
Thanks
I am in same situation.
We need answer about this From the user or developer who has Experience with this case.

I9500 is the international version, i9505 is the US version

The is not what we want to know.
Will m919 modem work on i9505 ?
It is not wise to flash another carriers modem, but yes, you can.

Recovery, go get the modem you want from tmo forum. and flash it, I do not think it is a good idea, but if you feel it is needed. So be it.
Thanks for the Thanks.
DO NOT flash modems. Flashing modems to enable frequencies has NOT worked on S3, Note2, S4 i337. Don't do it.
"You don't think" doesn't mean "it's not possible" or "a disaster will happen"
I used my skyrocket on T-Mobile after flashing a T-Mobile radio from Hercules (very closely related device to skyrocket... both are s2 variants)....
So please stop the useless advice of not recommended, or not advisor or such... It's xda not Facebook..
If 2 devices has the same chipset and/or the same hardware platform it could be very likely that the only difference between then is the radio software and the commercial name,. Unfortunately I couldn't find enough detailed (deep hardware details) info on the T-Mobile S4...
The main purpose here from this thread is that did anybody here try it and connected to T-Mobile LTE in USA successfully ?
Any update??

I would also like to know if the i9505 can connect to T-Mobile's LTE in refarmed areas. I'm holding out on the purchase right now but if it does work then I'll go ahead and buy 1.
As I understand it, I don't believe that the I9505 can connect to Tmo's LTE frequencies but it should probably get unto the refarmed (1900 mhz) 3g areas if you're in one of the big cities (ie; NYC, LA).
It looks from the specification that out of the box it will not work..It doesn't have the 1700mhz LTE band(which T-Mobile USA uses for the LTE uplink)..
For sure it'll need some"modding" or radio flash to work...
We need a guinea pig big-time here lol..Probably somebody buys it, flash the S4 M919 radio on it and report back...If it doesn't, ship it back to seller for a refund...
PS: it is useless if it won't connect to T-Mobile LTE(i.e. just 3G)..Pretty much everywhere will get LTE eventually...
We are still waiting for real Solution.............
so is it mainly coming down to the radio thats built into the chipset and not the software side of things, I wanted to flash the modem but I dont know if it will brick, blow up, or turn into optimus prime.... any ideas lads,
cheers

You have I9505 ? Are you on t mobile ? Do you have a good return policy for the device ? And in the return period ?
If so and you're brave enough, look for a flashable m919(T-Mobile S4) radio zip and flash it using any custom recovery ...Beware that this action might corrupt its imei or might cause a big problem that can't be corrected easily... So you're responsible for that ... But if successful you'll be able to use T-Mobile LTE and do the community a great service...,
Please let us know if you have any updates.

I bought Samsung Galaxy s4 Gt-19500 with Android version 4.2.2 out of Canada. The phone is sim unlocked. My original plan was to get a plan back in Canada and use it there. I found out that it was compatible with Rogers, Fido, and all the carriers who have a band 2600. Wind, Mobilicity, and the cheaper carriers is 1700/2100 and my phone does not work with there sim cards. I searched online and found this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 which is also with xda-developers but the download links on the bottom, downloaded 77zip which crashed the computer twice and also downloaded lots other programs with out permission. Is there any way to make it work with wind?
I don't need it to work with Rogers, Bell, Fido, or any other carrier after.
Much appreciated- Tyler
Hello i am sorry to tell you that the GT-i9500 does not have the chip needed to run on the wind net work (T-mobile in USA) the chip you would need is a qualcom chip the only international version that has that chi[ is the LTE variant of your phone GT-i9505 and no you cant swap chips nor can you flash a modem and get rid of that file that is crashing your PC if it does what it claims it does than its a lie and most likely a virus sorry for the bad news but my uncle had the same problem and thats why i have some experience with the phone i recommend you sell that one and buy the GT-i9505 or the T-Mobile SGH-M919 i personally have the T-Mobile version and no complaints just the bloatware but i flashed a rom and no more bloatware
Best Of Luck
Hi,
I have SGH-M919V and its unlocked.
I am on Bell and want to use LTE. But this model has LTE disabled. when i enable it, cant make phone calls.
I cant seem to flash T mobile modem via odin. there is this secure boot issue. the AUTH: Fails.
I was thinking of installing Bell SGH-I337M rom on my phone. Is that possible? If so, how do I go about doing it?
Thanks!
Since you have a T-Mobile variant you should ask in the sgs4 tmobile forum...
However your problem with lte/phonecalls is likely just an APN issue
To further assist we would need to know which carrier you are using the device on

Hey. thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it.
I've been asking a lot there. No one is answering.
Please help me out, please.
My phone is Canadian variant, originally from WindMobile - SGH-m919V. Wind uses Tmobile freq. = 1700/2100 (AWS) only. No LTE.
I got it unlocked two days ago, and switched over to Bell carrier. Bell uses the other freq and LTE.
When I do force LTE by *#2263# - and enable all LTE, i get LTE speeds. But NO calling or texting. this is with the original Windmobile stock rom. No modification. No root.
I tried to flash Tmobile modem via odin 3.07, didnt work. I used the phone button to load the modem.bin. It gave me AUTH: Fail, secure check fail.
I agree, wrong forum, but we are here to please....
if you have a M919V then you would flash the rom you want, before you boot, flash a tmo m919V kernel, it will boot, manually add your apn settings for your device, it will work with data/wifi/calls.
Good luck....
Hi, im sorry for posting in this forum.
so if I want to flash the bell rom - I337M stock original rom , how do I flash it without booting??
And then how would I flash the tmobile kernel so then I can boot??
I dont mind keeping my current rom - wind stock. But, I want to be able to use LTE like how tmobile has pentaband 3g plus lte.
:/ .
I will travel to the US shortly and want to buy an S5 to bring it back with me on my way home (Mexico). I think both the AT&T 'A' and the international 'M' version should cover my frequency needs ('M' has an extra band), but I would like to get some insight on which one might be a better choice in terms of Rom development and official updates (pushed out sooner). Thanks in advance to everyone.
AT&T have a locked bootloader so you can only use AT&T branded firmwares on a 900A.......
If you find yourself in an area/country that uses a different radio/modem band to AT&T, this could be a problem........

Thank you so much. Mexico (on my carrier) uses the same bands as in AT&T but seems like the international 'M' version might be a better choice isn't it?

I would say probably so.......
I believe the AT&T's locked bootloader makes it harder to root as well, and because only carrier specific OS can be loaded, I'm sure that's had an effect on the custom rom development for the device too......
I personally would choose a device with as few restrictions as possible.....

Hey guys -
So like many of you, I reflashed my two Yotas to the latest RU Lollipop and was wondering if there was another radio firmware file that might wake up the AT&T US LTE bands. Any thoughts? Has anyone tried flashing the different radios to see if you can get a 4G LTE signal stateside?
Thanks,
Rootdude

HSPA+ can be sometimes very good - 3-15Mb/s - what is your speed at the moment? can you check through speedtest.net ?
At&t firmware
I have around 3.5 mbs to download and 0.6 uploaf. Too small comparing local 4G. So, can you help us?
I do not think you can change that easily, there's a thread talking about changing Radio Bands but the conclusion I got from the reading is that it does not work, at least with current "user" knowledge, YD206 is from China or HongKong, and some of those LTE Bands can work in Europe, not so much on the USA, the bands that USA telephone companies are very different than Europe or Asia, and as such YD206 IS NOT compatible with USA LTE bands. UMTS can have much higher upload speed than the ones you posted, so it might be your network problem, don't know if they are any better in LTE over your region.
Should be possible
Qualcomm 8974 supports all LTE bands. We just need proper modem firmware for US bands. Method in those threads definitely doesn't work since Qualcomm introduced some hidden filters inside firmware
BTW, there is lte_prefferedband file in the modem folder of Yota EFS. Does anyone know how to edit it?
That might be a anti-tampered code against our NV changes
Ok, I found out. For AT&T we need qcn file from Yotaphone 2, model 205. I don't know it such thing exist on the market but this reference says that it might be compatible with At&T.

interesting thing is that YD205 model was never launched, so it doesn't exist at all, unfortunately. The inquiries about future developments of this model were negative...
hello all ,
I just ordered a g935v on ebay a few days ago , it's still on the way , while I am planning to use circket wireless(att mnvo) on it.
As a common sense , flashing to g935u seems like the best choice , until the nougat for g935v is released recently and g935u still on mm ....
so , my question is , will it work if I flash it to g935t ? Or any advice will be appreciated.
I am worrying about the LTE BAND 17.
thanks.

Bad news :As far as I know since cricket uses AT&T there will be incompatibility issues.
Using will my phone work it says that you will have no 2G support, 3G says it will work, but 4G says "Device is compatible with some of the network carriers frequencies. It may work."
However it is missing 2 bands that AT&T uses for high speed LTE so you will not get high speed LTE so you might not get anything faster than UMTS/3G.

So you already have a 935u?
Why not just flash AT&T nougat on it until the u nougat cones out?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but they should be able to do that, yeah?

yeah , I get my phone now , using att's rom on it , lte is working pretty well , just too many bloatwares making the phone slow as s*** , also att's rom doesn't allow me to do wifi tether, and battery runs out pretty quick...
I don't suggest to flash any provider rom on U model. You'll loose LTE-CA. You'll only have 1 channel LTE. If you want to use any carrier rom and have LTE-CA, get that carrier phone.

thanks for you info , but cricket limits the speed to be lower than 10mbps... so ..
anyway , I can reach the "full" speed with att or t-mobile's rom
