This is very frustrating and I hope one of our gurus can help. I have a stock rooted Sprint Galaxy S4 with MF9 and my wifi turns off and will not turn back on when I flash certain files from TWRP. For example, with Truly Clean 1.6 I had to remove all the delete_recursive lines from the updater-script or I would lose wifi.
Well that one I can kinda see but take the mod TW lockscreen “lens flare” which has nothing to do with anything but changing the lockscreen animation to lighting and that breaks wifi as well. The latest is the excellent in menu call recorder which works great but kills my wifi. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,
I bought a Samsung GT I9500 and I noticed that whenever I put an application such as an LED Flash Light or LED Flash Notifications (like flash blink) for some reason or other it slows the whole phone down it practically freezes up entirely and after a long wait the flash finally comes on. This only happens the first time if I was to put the flash off and on continuously it would be a bit snappier but would still be noticeably lagging. This doesnt happen with the camera btw when taking pictures the flash works just fine. It only seems to be occuring like this when another application is involved.
The phone is still under warranty do you think I should ask for a change of phone or do you think its a ROM issue? Although it is occuring with both stock and modified roms (im using WANAM rom).
Thanks
I work nights so I rely on the torch in my phone for all kinds of things. The SOLE reason why I cant use custom kernals is my ultra bright torch app crashes on anything but stock kernal.
This is your answer - flash the repackaged stock kernal from Wanam and it should be much better. I had the exact problem you did an now its fine.
Hi thanks for your reply,
I reflashed the repackaged kernel but the flash blink application keeps lagging or in some cases it doesn't flash at all probably because it takes too long for the flash to start up only the camera application works flawlessly with the flash so far. Any other suggestions guys? Or perhaps a problem with the handset?
Hello everyone. I've done a few searches on here but haven't found this exact problem. Relevant details without extra background info are in bold.
My wife and I each got an S4 with Sprint's recent BOGO promotion. My phone has had no issues. It came with MDL in the box, which I updated to MF9 via OTA, flashed TWRP via Heimdall in Linux, rooted, and installed the hotspot mod.
Her phone - completely stock MF9 and new from the store - has had problems, one of which I've so far been unable to fix. (How I wish it were mine. I develop for Android, but this is much more of a pain for her.) Hers already had MF9 at the store. It had the Google Services Framework/Core Apps runaway process issue with heat/battery drain from the start - which I fixed. However, it also has unresponsive sensors for ~3 seconds when receiving a call. It's almost as if there's some lag in activating the sensors. The phone is otherwise snappy with no other lag noted.
- Hard reset has been tried.
- The touchscreen is unresponsive during this time, though the display functions.
- The gesture for answering (when enabled) also does not work.
- We haven't tried enabling the home key to answer, but this will be next.
I've seen this before with Android a good while back. It was an inherent problem with Gingerbread on many phones. Haven't seen it pop up in Jellybean at all. In trying to diagnose, I've ensured that all bells and whistles are turned off. No air gestures are on.
We'd really like to get it working as it should. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?
Many thanks!
I believe this is more of a stock software issue. I have had the issue since day one.
When I turned off svoice and some of the other added features most of the lag disappeared. Svoice is pretty good at creating lag as far as ive seen.
Voice response seems to create th lag as it is awaiting a voice command from you.
This is what I have noticed anyway.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but here goes...
Just got a Galaxy S4, and there are several very annoying quirks/problems that I hope someone can help me resolve.
I'm using stock Android 4.2.2
1) I have a 200mb data limit so that flies away in a blink of an eye unless data is restricted. There is a way to disable data, but not RESTRICT it. On CyanogenMod with my Galaxy S3 there is a way to still be able to download emails other things, but restrict all other background data. At least that is what the effect seems to be because my 200mb easily lasts me a month. On the stock Android with the S4 there doesn't seem to be an equivalent option at all. Am I wrong?
2)CyanogenMod has an option to boost in-call volume, which makes the thing so damn loud, I can hold the phone about 3-4 inches away from my ear and still hear clearly. Best of all the option STAYS. It never gets disabled unless I disable it. The stock Android on S4 also has a boost option, but it hardly has any effect at all, boosting volume only ever so slightly, and what's really aggravating, has to be enabled in-call every time a call is made. There is no way to make it "stay". Is there anything I'm missing?
3)I cannot apply a latest "Stable" version of CM to my S4. That is, it installs fine, but keeps saying "unfortunately android keyboard has stopped". So I cannot type anything. Is this a known issue?
4)I have mind to keep using the stock ROM, because I want to have some of those nice hover gestures, S-Health and few other things, but the problem with disabling data is very annoying, plus S-Voice keeps crashing all the time... What gives? IS there any way to fix S-Voice?
5)Finally are there any modified stock ROMs which have all the good stuff and none of the bad? ; ) And if not, are there any ROMS except for CM that you can recommend for the S4?
Thanks very much.
Hi all,
First off, just want to put out there that I'm not exactly a techie so I'm not too fluent with this stuff (but just smart enough to root and flash, haha).
Anyway, I've flashed Cyanogenmod, SlimBean, BeanStalk, ParanoidAndroid, and LiquidSmooth (currently) but for each, I have been experiencing problems. Three problems, to be exact:
1. My vibration is MUCH lower than it was on TouchWiz, and I've seen my friend's S3, where his vibration is strong. Yes, I have tried increasing the vibration in each of these ROMs (past the 'recommended 75%')
2. Brightness sliders and laggy and slow to respond. I can't seem to drag the slider easily; it always lags and takes time to move where I want it to.
3. LTE does not work. I've tried turning the LTE switch on, but I never get it, or I just simply cannot connect to any band. The highest I've gotten is HSPA+ and I used to get LTE on TouchWiz...
Any help?
So you're having the same 3 problems on all the aosp roms you've tried? Have you flashed back to stock or used a stock-based rom to see if those problems disappear? What kernel are you using?
At this point I would have started over again (Odin to stock, system wipe, etc).
Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem?
Basically, I was having wifi issues connecting to an enterprise WLAN with PEAP/MSCHAPV2, so I (stupidly) upgraded to the OTA 4.4.2 ROM, which would have been fine if it didn't kill battery life and randomly restart. I wasn't on this version long enough to know if it had the same issue that I will describe below.
So I threw caution and my warranty to the wind and went with the 4.4.4 Pacman ROM, which was great, but whenever I had a phone call, the phone screen freezes and won't wake up to allow me to hang up a call. The same thing would occur if I called someone and had to use their automated system - I'd put the screen on loudspeaker, open up the dialpad, and when I want to hit the numbers - nothing. Locked up. Can't hang up either.
I had the same issue on the 4.4.4 Cyanhacker ROM, so I believe that it is fully related to some sort of incompatibility between KitKat and the i9505, and not the ROMs themselves.
At this point I was successful in switching to the Darthstalker 4.3 ROM, which is running beautifully and I'm really liking it so far. It's also nice having the old phone and contacts apps back, because I really hated the Kitkat one anyway...
