I have a galaxy s4 and have a friend who wants it. He has a note 2 and his wife has a optimus G pro. He wants to trade one of them for the s4. Was thinking about it but does anybody know anything about the other devices. Or are they going to be a bad trade.

1080p screen is key. I wouldn't touch the Note, but would definitely consider the G Pro.
I agree with tmushtare. Keep the GS4. I have had all three phones as well. The GS4 is superior to the Note II & O-G Pro, + has a higher resale value than the other 2.
The OG pro is nice I was considering it when I bought my S4 ( I had the optimus G) and have had the Note 2.. The only thing I see as better about either is the 5+ inch screen... But for me the 5" screen is the sweet spot.. I get awesome battery life on my S4 and its a good size for my big fingers but it's not so big that I have trouble using it one handed.. Love my S4

I had the HTC One, OG pro, Note 2 and now S4. I had both the I9500 and now the the I9505. To make a long story short keep the S4 or get the Gpro if you like bigger screen. You cant go wrong with either phone seriously but know that the gpro development is pretty much non existent right now . As far as the note 2 it is an incredible device but the Note 3 is right around the corner. I would say keep the S4 for the time being and see what the note 3 is about in a short couple of months.

I haven't checked any other sites but if any site were to have ROMs and mods and whatnot for OG Pro it would be xda and I just checked again so I don't eat my words there isn't one ROM there in fact there's only like 10 topics in the development section
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
OK I took a look and gpro doesn't have that much in it. So if u just run stock then the gpro would be OK. Think I'll stick with the s4. Thanks everybody.

Now if we can get a bootloader unlock for the s4 we would be set.

I tried this G pro when my s4 was stolen. It's heavy to me but 5.5 inch screen. It seemed a tad bit slower not much than s4. I've mainly owned either Samsung or LG devices so I'm used to the difference between them. I just felt less comfortable carrying the Pro. I would definitely use it at home but not out & about. The storage is great 32gb internal with additional sd storage.

Im liking the Galaxy Note 2,not much as far as development yet,but its a new phone, soo i'm almost possitive theres gonna be some great things to come for the Note 2.Aside from the great ammenities it already posseses.Plus i like the 5.3" screen and the stylus.
Yea Im thinking the same thing but at the LG optimus g is going to be a nexus phone and its going to have stock jelly bean right out of the box. And I think it a lil bit faster than the note 2 and It looks better.

The Note 2 is also going to have JB out of the box, and all the cool things it does makes it a remarkable device. Enough to overcome the size of the phone, which to me, is a plus. I like a bigger screen

The only thing making want to go to the SG3 is that I can afford it right now. That Wirefly deal is sweet. It'll be sometime next year before the note 2 is as affordable on wirefly and by then, I'll be able to just buy it and sell the SG3
Not completely shore but Google will be announcing it and some other devices I think the 25 of this month

Owning a sgs 3, considering buying note 2
I've heard from different sites very different opinions about the screen. Now I think it's better to ask someone who owned both devices, since theoretically note 2 screen should be better.
Someone says that s3 screen is sharper, is it true? And how it's it with the text sharpness and whites in reality?

How many people think that the Note 2 battery could have been a little bit better? Perhaps 3300mah to 3500mah? Same as the Droid Razor Max HD which gets close to 24hr battery. The note 2 gets about 13-15.

Id intended to wait 2 years until I upgraded but 1gb of ram is working out to be ridiculously low and basically, while ideally id love to change to wp8 I'm addicted to android.... I'm waiting to see what the final specs of the note 3 and nexus 5 will be, and choose between the two. Hopefully soon an Oppo Find 5 or it's follow-up by the end of this year.
It's screen, sound and UI create the ultimate user-experience I honestly find unmatched by any other phone.
The only reason it's probably unknown to you is it's lack of marketing in comparison to the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4.
It's something you guys should really check out! :good:

If this is the reason then dont even think more. Just upgrade to s4! Personally, the main reason I don't use a note 2 is size and thickness. 5 inch personally is the sweet spot for me. The screen is big while still easy to hold in hand. Specially when your hand muscles get used to the s4 after a week or so, You'll also agree that this device form factor is perfect.
On the other hand:
If dependant on note exclusive features like Spen or Great battery life, then you will definitely miss those. Just keep that in mind.

My Advice
Sell the N2 for a Good Price
Buy the S4 for a Good Price
a few months later.....................
Sell the S4 for a Great Price and Get the N3 (Second Hand value N2 vs S4, S4 will always be Higher)
Best tactic is to trade note 2 for iphone 5 then either sell it for 500 unlocked or just find somebody that wants to do straight trade for s4.
Sent from my GT-I9505
In daily usage S4 for sure, much more hands friends but keeping a big screen.
Note 2 screen size is a great advantage
Note 2 screen size is a great disadvantage.
Great robust but once you have a fairly sturdy case on it was just too big for me.
Battery life not so good on the s4 but the screen size is a compromise between the smaller HTC One and the Note.
No regrets in swapping so far.

Hello. Long time Android & XDA user here.
My old Motorola Atrix 4G is finally starting to die. So I decided to go out and start looking at a new phones.
Phones im considering:
1. Samsung Galaxy Note 2
2. Samsung Galaxy S4
3. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
Now a liitle about me. Im a computer tech, I know a good bit about linux and windows OS. I sometimes for my job have to remote into servers to fix issues. Mainly Windows servers. Because of this I am already testing the Galaxy Note 2. I like the big screen and battery. But it is big. Maybe too big?
I also would and have flashed my previous phones to better roms so I would say a strong development community for the phone is a must. The more roms (stable) the better in my option.
I like the S4 because of the camera and the S4 Active for the "water resistant" & dust proof. I also like the IR blaster, something the note 2 lacks and the higher processor power.
My question at the end of the day is im looking for a phone that:
A. Has good remote desktop resolution
B. Good development community for roms
C. Maybe IR blaster
D. Resonable battery life
Im thinking the S4 Active but how stable is it compared to the S4?
Thanks for any feedback!
Dimitri

The active is nothing to write home about. It is garbage to many people and a failure on Samsung's part.
My wife has the Note 2. Huge screen. Not too big for the hands, fast and reliable, but bulky in an otter box. She is completely stock.
I have the S4. I was lucky enough to get it shipped directly from AT&T with MDL so I am able to flash all the ROMs I want from both The AT&T and T-Mobile forums. If i were to have gotten MF3, I would only be able to root.

Too be completely honest go with a nexus 4 or the nexus 5 when it comes out. The s4 doesn't feel that much powerful. I still get lag and such. I came from a 1core family phones both Inspire and Infuse, but I jsut am not feeling it. If you want support you better get a T-mobile phone that has an unlocked bootloader because the s4 along with the note 3 has a locked bootloader.

I don't have any lag. Disabled animations and debloat as well as a few things like greenify help a huge amount. Android is made to customize. It is up to the user to do so.
The S4 is the top dog. Much better than the N4 on every aspect. Even on stock with locked bootloaders, the S4 destroys it.

Do yourself a favor (if you haven't already done so) and read the "pinned" threads in the general and Q & A sections. It doesn't matter how much you know or don't know already, those threads contain information that needs to be known for this specific model phone.
I hope you enjoy the phone and I think you made a great choice. Good luck.
