I'm a bit stumped as to what happened here. When I first purchased my phone (SGH-I337M on Bell Mobility in Canada) it had LTE connectivity. Soon afterwards I flashed m3dd0g's Stock Google Edition 4.2.2 rom (It was V2 at the time) and the phone still had no issues connecting to LTE.
Now here is the part I'm confused about. I flashed V4 of the rom a while back and I didn't notice it until recently but I believe I lost LTE after this. It might have been something else I did as I didn't notice exactly when this happened since the phone sometimes switches between H+ and LTE. Now I'm only connecting to H+ and seeing download speeds of around 12Mbps. I've tried flashing a few other roms and still no luck. I have even tried restoring the nandroid backup of the original stock Samsung firmware and even that is failing to connect to LTE. I checked and I'm still using the stock Canadian baseband (MVLUAMDJ).
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I can try to do? Thanks!

Hello,
I'll start from the beginning so maybe someone can figure out exactly whats going on with my Galaxy S4.
So my carrier is Telus and I had just a rooted 4.2.2 and everything has been fine since day 1 of rooting. 2 nights ago I noticed the stock Google Edition ROM was out and I decided to give that a try. I flash the 4.3 Google Edition ROM which said Canada (Bell/Telus/Rogers) and I was using that for about 24 hours. Everything was great, however I noticed I lost my 4G/LTE connection. So without being connected to WiFi I had no data plan basically, everything was on, carrier was selected all the APN settings were correct so I was lost. Completely confused as to why this is happening I just decided to restore to stock, unroot and start from scratch. I used Oden to restore the stock ROM from Telus back to android 4.2.2
Now, once that came back, still the same problem and what I noticed was it installed all the Bell Mobility stock software and when I plug the phone into Kies it's listed as a Bell Mobility device. How is this possible? I used the Telus stock ROM to restore, once that I've used before without any issues at all.
Any help would be appreciated, if you have any questions let me know.
Thanks.

I'm wondering if the 4.3 rom managed to update your EFS or CSC data... I'm no expert in these areas (and I'm on AT&T), so I don't think I can be much of a help. But this might be something to look into. Also be sure you wiped data too (you didn't mention it).
Also, I'm wondering if you have the correct Odin file for your carrier (if there is such a thing as a difference?)? I know with older handsets, it was possible for AT&T to push out APN settings, etc. from the carrier's end, forcing updates to your handset. Not sure if that's still possible or not.
If you have a nandroid backup of your ESN partition, you might try to restore that. Don't try to restore someone else's backup, or you'll mess up your IMEI and such.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention some stuff. I have wiped data and factory restored before flashing the stock ROM in Odin as well as wiped everything again as soon as its complete. Right when it boots up the APN info is all wrong. I have data now if I set it up myself but its just sitting on H+ rather than LTE/4G. Also it seems to install the Bell bloatware rather than the Telus bloatware, so something within the phone still thinks its a Bell phone. I'm stumped, so is the Telus guy who was trying to help me with it today. I know I'm using the right .tar stock file from Telus because I've used it before. Man this really stinks!
EDIT: I'm not sure if this is valuable info to add but I just noticed when doing a factory reset it says the CSC that's applied and its labelled as BMC which is Bell Mobility. This is a Telus phone so I'm assuming my problem is somewhere right from there.
ALRIGHT!
I fixed it... I found a tutorial on how to change the CSC with the key command
"*#272*Device IMEI#"
Then it showed a list of carriers and I chose the right one, rebooted and it restored everything and presto. 4G/LTE is back on.

Super-awesome! Glad to hear you got it figured out!
Background:
- Sprint L720
- International unlocked with GSM SIM
After updating to a new 4.4 ROM (Slimkat) and NAE (modem only from the modem thread), connecting to anything other than EDGE causes, what seems to be, a modem crash. If I force "GSM only"/2G connection, it's stable with EDGE. If I try to connect to 3G, I see "3G" quickly flash on the status bar next to the signal indicator (I have full service), and then the whole mobile connecting drops and resets... then it goes back to having full service, but no data connection at all - until I got to mobile settings and set it back to "2G" and it goes back to stable EDGE.
I am overseas with the phone (it's fully unlocked and I got a strong H+ connection with the old CM ROMs at the same location), so I am wondering if it's an issue with the new 4.4 ROMs not supporting GSM? Perhaps some sort of baseband/modem mismatch? I also flashed NAE (modem only) as well when I did the ROM - I have since downgraded, but perhaps it isn't fully downgrading?
I applied the MF9 full one-click, no joy ... I did a factory wipe and applied the 4.2 factory image from SamMobile, no joy...
Looking at the logcat, I see something along the lines of an error for 'Mobile network type unknown: 0'...
Any help would be greatly appreciated - only having EDGE is driving me nuts, especially when my actual mobile network here is very fast..
Let me know of any information I need to provide - Thanks
Ok, update - I applied the MK2 modem and then NAE, as I saw someone else do because they said that the NAE file is missing some things... no joy
This all seems to have happened after applying the NAE modem-only file - Does SlimKat not support GSM? I don't think it's SlimKat, because, even going back to the fresh "Factory default" flash that I got some SamMobile, I still had the same issue..
Which leads me to what I think the problem is - the Qualcomm settings. Those seem to be persistent across all ROM restores, so how do I go about resetting the QUALCOMM settings to default? Is there something I can do with EFS Professional/CDMA Toolbox or something?
Hi, I'm from India and have a GT-I9500 which has been running flawlessly for the past 1 year on BSNL service right up to OS version 4.4.2 firmware vers. I9500XXUFNE4. Since then I upgraded the firmware twice to I9500XXUFNG1 and subsequently to I9500XXUFNI2. Midway while using firmware I9500XUFNG1 in rooted version, I started noticing that my phone data would run normally for a while and then suddenly the data connectivity would drop from H+ mode to 3G but would not return to H+ even though I know that I am in an area that has consistently strong H+ signal. The only option to get H+ mode back was to go to Settings/More networks/Mobile networks/Network mode/ and change the setting to WCDMA only mode for two minutes and then switch back to WCDMA/GSM(autoconnect), then the phone would get H+ service back again for a few hours. I thought that it might have been some problem caused by rooting, so when the latest firmware (I9500XXUFNI2) was released this month I upgraded the firmware but since I lost root on upgrade, I did not root the phone, fearing the problem will come back since I thought root was causing it.
Now in stock firmware running on I9500XXUFNI2 I am still getting the same problem of the phone dropping to 3G mode from H+ and not reverting back ( the speed is not even 2G. Just the 3G icon shows it - data packets hardly get transferred) and I can rectify it only by switching to WCDMA mode and back to autoconnect, as previously stated.
I checked online for solutions, but I don't seem to see anyone facing such an issue.
I thought it could be a service provider problem, so I used SIMs from Idea and Airtel as well, but while using those networks also, the same problem persists, so I have deduced it is a problem pertaining to the phone only. Not sure if it is a hardware malfunction or firmware based.
Does anybody else from India running the latest firmware for GT-I9500 have similar problems, and is there a solution?
Thanks.

The problem is with the modem firmware. Change it back to the original or get a kernel.

Thank you, Devilslasher. Could you please link me to a thread where they have listed the original modem firmware? I did a search under the Samsung S4 subsection on xda but could not find any thread where modems/radios for Indian version was hosted.
Thanks in advance.
Hey guys, hopefully you can help me get my S5 back on track.
KLTEUSC G900R4
The story goes:
I've been running CM13. Flashed a nightly, I notice my phone hasn't locked 4G basically all day. 3G only.
So I Odin back to stock using the latest firmware. Phone is still stuck in 3G. Phone does an OTA update to CPF2 baseband version. Still no 4G.
Took the phone to USC store, they provided me with a new SIM. Nothing changed.
I took a trip out of my home area, about 100 miles away I got 4G, but i had no network connection? The phone displayed 4G but i could not connect to any internet. It then dropped down to 3G shortly after and I was able to access data again.
Since then I've flashed back to CM13 (snapshot august 20th release) since if I'm going to be stuck in 3G forever, it might as well be on a ROM that I like.
Please help!
Thanks,
Jeremy.
Bump. Still no LTE.
If I reboot the device, the phone locks LTE for a few seconds, with network connectivity, but then quickly loses it and drops back to 3G. If I leave the phone in LTE preferred, it will run in 3G for most of the time, but occasionally totally lose data (I'm assuming its trying to connect to LTE) then go back to 3G.
Any Ideas?
flash the stock tar.md5 in Odin, reflash TWRP, boot it up fully, boot into recovery, make a NAND, reflash your ROM. Sounds like something got screwed up in the radio firmware
Will that still work even though I can't get 4G when i'm on the stock rom?
$50 reward to whoever can successfully restore 4G LTE to my phone. I've been living on 3G for 6 months and its starting to get to me.
I've been on Lineage OS with the same results. There was a firmware update, so I flashed it through Odin, and ran the stock rom/firmware for about 3 days with the same results. No 4G. Called up the US Cell Tech guys and they were going to check everything over on their end.
The last go round, I repartitioned the phone, did NandEraseAll, and EFS clear.
Any ideas?
I am having issues getting other rom's to work. I have flashed lineage to my sprint samsung galaxy s5. I have the twrp bootloader installed and thanks to skillsoft tool i was able to get it to actially stick. I did not like lineage primarily because it has issues with lte and my 64gig sd card ( my 16gig worked though despite being significantly slower) So i tried moar rom by downloading it doing a wipe and installing zip. I let it sit for 40 minutes but it stayed on the samsung screen. So i thought ok maybe its the rom, i downloaded aj's a8 2016 port v2 did a wipe and installed it as a zip, same thing. Is there an issue going from droid 7 to these other rom's?
OK, So i was wondering if this is just me. I dont see much mention about this problem browsing the threads. Course i could be missing it. So despite not really wanting to i brought my phone back to factory. The LTE connection came right back which was relieving i thought maybe i screwed something up royally. So i re-installed twrp and flashed ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.7.4-20161121-kltespr figuring maybe its something with the neugat based roms. I still cant get my phone to connect with lte. I switch it to lte prefered, nothing. Switch it to 3g and i can connect. Back to lte still nothing. I am clueless as to what might be going wrong other than maybe its the modem driver?
The factory rom i used was G900PVPU3BOK4_G900PSPT3BOK4_G900PVPU3BOK4_HOME.tar.md5
Any insight on this would be very welcomed.
Well I am a bit confused on this. I took the stock rom and extracted the NON-HLOS and modem bin files. ( thank you 7zip allowing fools like me with windows to do things linux is often used for ) from the stock marshmello rom which i downloaded and previously flashed to my phone and verified it connects with lte. I made a tar with both of them and flashed that via cp on odin and i still can only connect with 3g. I am really not sure whats going on with this.
Ok Turns out not knowing what i was doing basically created a LOT of extra work for me. I use a 3rd party mvno called tello which is great for low cost low usage customers like me. I finally stumbled upon this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/tello-apn-settings-t3409432
Added the tello apn and whala worked like magic, didnt even have to reboot. I had to do this with it set to global. For whatever reason when its set to lte i couldnt add and save a apn. Once i added the apn then switched to lte whala lte connection.
