Hi everyone,
I like SVoice but I am not happy with the sounds it makes like when you first push the button and after it recognizes what you said. I recored the siri sounds off of an iPad mini and I went into system/media/ui and replaced Voice_start.ogg with the siri sound that i renamed Voice_start.ogg and the same for the other siri sound and the Voice_stop.ogg. I then restarted the phone but the SVoice sounds are still the same. I have replaced other sounds in that folder and they worked so I am pretty sure I am not doing anything wrong. Any help is appreciated!
P.S I attached the Siri sounds I want to replace the Svoice sounds with so if anyone would like to try to use them you can
So they didn't work?? That's be awesome if you could get em to work. I'd love to know so keep me updated!

I'm not sure why though. Does anyone know if the sounds that are used are stored in a different folder on the phone?

thanks KenKiller for the reply,
I have searched the free app market for such a software but could not find, do you know if it is available as a paid app?
ahhh I missss that auto-vibrate so much !!!!!
I loved it on my magic. no need to hold the phone on our ears until they pick up
i tried to search for it, but in the end found many more threads where people asked for this function to be removed from many other phones.
Guess it's hard to please the whole world.
Place the phone.apk from this thread onto your SD card and use APKInstaller to install it. It should overwrite your stock phone.apk and will provide you the feature set you desire.
However, I don't know if this has been attempted on a SGS before - so be ready to restore your stock ROM if it doesn't work...

Waiting for a brave soul to try this.
I'm pretty sure the Phone app that comes with SGS is quite unique. After installing launcherpro the default phone button wouldn't even work until I replaced it.

Thanks for your help, I will do it once i get my SGS
Is there any news about this issue ?
uhhhh, sounds fun, let me book mark this and try it when i have spare time to mess around with my phone
For some reason the setting for this is in Settings > Sound and Display, Vibrate for Incoming Calls which is by default unticked. I thought I saw another somewhere else, going to poke around a bit more.
Edit: Damn, can't find it. I swear I saw options for vibrating at the start and/or end and or during calls, maybe I'm getting confused with my Magic though?
I really miss that feature from my old phone. The nearest app I can find is this http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-cn-cwd-callvibrate-BApt.aspx
I am looking for some new ringtones and notification alert tones. There was a game called Fable, and it had some sounds in it that I think would make pretty nice notification sounds. Problem is, I can't seem to find anything that I could do this with. I figured there would be a sound board for it, but I have been unable to find one. I also looked around for a while on Google hoping to find just some sounds from the game, but again, no luck. So, I was wondering if anyone has these sounds or even an Android sound board for it. Also, any other nice ring tones or alerts anyone knows of I would be up for trying. Thanks!
Hi! Go to market and dl this app called Zedge. Under Zedge, do a search on Fable, theres a few of the tracks of the game you are talking abt
Thanks a lot! Checking it out now. Hoping I can find the specific one I was looking for.
Blah, didn't find the one I was after. Thanks for the app info though, looks pretty handy either way.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know a way to change the sound the keyboard sound for typing? I hate the vibrate so I turned it off but I also hate the sound it makes so I turned that off too. I want it to make a soft pop noise similar to the iPhone. I searched but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance.

Running into the same 'problem' and found that the sounds used are in the /system/media/audio/ui folder. But I can't replace them ...
Should I get passed that as well then I'll let you know.

Do you have root access? If not then you need that first. You can get that with this little app...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953&highlight=z4root
Then, I'd recommend using RootExplorer (free, on the Market) for pasting the new audio file.
Hope this helps
That worked, thanks for the tip!
I'm having this issue with multitasking and sound where eg. if i open xbox music and then go back to my desktop the music volume reduces. Another example would be where i am chatting with a friend on skype(metroapp), i can't put it in the background and do other things because the sound reduces so much that i can't hear it.
I tried going to sounds in control panel and make it do nothing when there is communication activity but it doesn't help.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Oh yeah that was quite helpful.
Neither is your sarcasm. I didn't see the latter portion of your post, and had posted the same idea, ie going into CP. I later deleted the redundancy. Given your attitude, I'll keep any subsequent suggestion to myself.

Congratulation you just wasted a few seconds of my life reading your post. Please do keep your subsequent suggestion to yourself.
^^ Well that escalated quickly.
I have the same problem but only if I am in skype and switch out my speakers for my headphones. That is when I encounter that problem.

Also how the hell do you plan on fixing your problem if you aren't willing to take suggestions from him.

Well, e.mote's "suggestion" boiled down to either "I didn't read your post" or "I'm going to imply that you're an idiot for even asking this" (instead of putting in an edit saying something like "EDIT: sorry, mis-read OP, please ignore"; seriously, how else would you read that initial response post-edit?) depending on whether you read the pre-edit version or not. I wouldn't have found that very useful either. Since he further went on to be sufficiently thin-skinned to be unable to take mild sarcasm in response to (intentionally or otherwise) coming across as an insulting prick... seems unlikely he was in a helpful mood anyhow.
Yo, e.mote, you've been very helpful here sometimes, but don't be a prick, man! BTW, your avatar doesn't do you any favors in the "no really, I'm not a sarcastic troll" department, even if your Thanks meter does.
To the OP: do you have different Communication and Default output devices defined, by chance? Does this problem still happen when using headphones? If you switch the Sound->Communication option to "Mute all other sounds" does it have any effect (I know you tried setting it to Do Nothing)? I've not heard of this problem before. Another thing to try: open the Volume Mixer (on the desktop, right-click the Volume icon in the tray and select Volume Mixer, or left-click it and then click Mixer) and see if your background Metro apps have a reduced volume there for some reason.
@GoodDay
Your name-calling isn't appreciated, nor is putdown of my avatar. It is below you, and my opinion of you is lessened. My future responses to present company may be less graceful.
Words can be interpreted in a variety of ways, and I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, I don't believe snark is the attitude to take when one is trying to get help. As you well realize from your own tart-tongued responses to some, there is no obligation here to answer questions or provide tech support.

@goldflame09
The first step to troubleshooting is to hit Google search. I'd start with
http://google.com/search?q="windows+8"+low+sound+volume+on+multitask
I didn't see any immediate relevant hit, which usually mean that it's not a systemic problem, and more of one particular to your setup. You mentioned that it happens in Skype, and only when headphones are involved. Then, expand your search out to enclose either or both of those terms.
You may also want to just search on "windows 8" skype low audio|volume to see if there are hits.
If you haven't already, I'd also suggest getting familiar with Google search syntax. 90% of all questions here, as long as they aren't specific to the particular setup, have already been asked elsewhere, and some will already have solutions.

I've had this exact problem. Here's the solution:
Go to the desktop and right click the Windows volume icon in the task bar and click on "Playback Devices", then in the "Sound" panel that pops up (and under the playback tab), right click your Speakers and click on "properties" then go to the "Advanced" tab, and deselect the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" check-box.
If you notice that Skype has been lowering the volume on other applications when it's open, then go to the "Communications" tab of the same Sound panel and select "Do nothing".
While this helped me a lot, I discovered some new information on the subject from the MSDN blog on sound tagging and priority in Metro apps here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsappd...edia-to-make-your-app-shine-in-windows-8.aspx
Hope this helps.
Thank you for these responses. I will look into it.
As for you people who keep criticizing e.mote's comments. Stop it or I will have mods close this thread because apparently you can't stop b****ing like little kids do.

I should have kept my criticism private, and for that I apologize. Nonetheless, I stand by thekiller99 (the original parent of the thread) - if a comment is made in error, then edited, it should be marked as such. If you feel that's out of line, you and every other member have the right to notify the moderators, but - to adapt your own earlier response - you're not likely to get much help from people if you shut down the threads where you're asking for help. This is the Internet; there will be misunderstandings and mistakes. Accept that they will happen, try to avoid situations that could cause them, and apologize if you cause one anyhow. That's all any of us can do.
Please let us know what you discover. It sounds like the issue occurs in a few different forms. It may also help to mention exactly what hardware each person is using, in case there's a common thread that can be used to find the root of the problem.
I accept your apology and offer my own for being rash.
I will let you know what I come up with though.

Hey guys! I know this is going to be a strange request. I don't know of this is even in the right place but I traded in my LGV20 for the s8+ today and I actually dislike the notification sounds for this phone but LOVED the LGV20s sounds. Can anyone give me a list of the notification sounds so I can download them? Even a screenshot of them all would be very helpful. There are several I'm after and I cannot for the life of me remember the names of them.
Thank you so incredibly much to those who can help me!!
