Old Nexus 4 LCD uses? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive replaced a broken N4 front assembly and LCD and I was wondering is there any uses for the old LCD? The LCD is fine and works but the other parts is damaged. Does anyone has any ideas or is there any possibilities? or should I toss them out cause idk if anyone would buy the old parts? Thanks for any help guys.

Whatever parts are still good . then someone will buy then.

You have any idea of who would buy them? Im thinking of listing on ebay but idk what or where to start and ive seen them not being sold after a while

Even if they don't always sell quick, there's no downside to listing them.

Nexus 7 cracked glass replacement?

My sisters Nexus 7 was dropped today and I'm trying to get it fixed for her. The frame is dented up so I'm not sure if the replacement would fit anyways, but maybe. The glass is cracked pretty bad but the LCD still works fine. Problem is, the digitizer must be broken because it will not register any touches. She does not need a whole new screen assembly, because those are expensive, rather just the glass and digitizer. Do any of you guys know anything about replacing it? Thanks a lot for any help.

Sorry mate but on the nexus 7 the screen and digitizer are fused together. Bottom line, she needs entire screen/display. I haven't seen them hit the market yet.

They are on eBay but go for around $160. Might be cheaper to buy a new 8Gb and sell the broken one for parts. Seems like that's what a lot of folks are having to do.

Thanks guys, unfortunately that seems like the only fix right now. Might end up finding her one off craigslist

Hi, did you find the replacement on Craiglist?? Today I broke mine..
I found just the glass and digitizer on eBay for less than 30 buck. Don't know how difficult this installation is gonna be but I'm up for resurrecting my Nexus 7.

[Q] Cracked Screen? What to do?

I put my Nexus 4 on a shelf that was about 5ft high, then someone pushed the shelf causing my phone to fall face down on the carpet. I thought the phone would handle the drop, as it had happened to me before, but I looked at it and the front glass, not LCD, was completely shattered. I know this would be a costly replacement, I would just like to find something under $100. What makes it bad is that the phone is only a month old, and I didn't have a case on it, kinda my fault.... But I'd like to ask if anyone else had this problem, and if so what was the solution, how much would it cost to buy a replacement online? and is it easy to replace at home, because I never replaced a screen by myself? If so did you get yours replaced at a shop? and how much was it with the glas and digitizer? Thanks, also do you think the prices for the screens will go down? They seem to be going down, because I could probably wait a month if it makes a big difference.
$115 lg does it for you.

Do you know of anything cheaper?
It doesn't sound bad but I just dont want to deal with sending in my phone, plus if its rooted? will it make a difference?

unroot it not difficult if u use one of those toolkits. doubt you can find anything cheaper than that. screens are expensive. max you would save $20 but you run the risk to not succeed by doing it urself(unless u r a pro in such things)

That's about the cheapest you can go. I paid about $250 for mine, and I had to fix it myself. Then again I prefer to do it myself.

Bezel of the device or bezel of the screen. Both seem simple enough just the screen bezel seems time consuming and tedious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm4f2XjQLAM

This is going to be your best bet on replacing it.

hmm, I am being off topic here, but couldn't resist. If I need to choose between buying a brand new phone for $500, and buying a mutilated phone for $300 that I have to invest time/money into fixing, but that could still have hidden damage (like stressed over tensioned frame), I would buy the $500 worry-free one
I wish you luck man fixing this one, hopefully it goes well...
Oh I have a brand new one I got for 500. But then I saw this one and it caught my eye, so now I have two

Maybe a case will cover up the bezel, would save you time and money trying to fix it.
Yeah youre right..... maybe if I get this damn imei fixed lkl

Did you do the replacement? Because I have a dent in my bezel and want to make sure the websites listed in this forum are legit and are trusted so that I can replace my bezel.
I dented my frame and replaced it for $20 pretty easy just take off the back and reinstall new one

Did you buy it from the website posted in this link? If you did what part did you buy? Front or back housing?

Dropped 185 lbs on my nexus

Phone is cracked on front and back what're my options here?
send it in to LG for repair... i know when my screen cracked it cost $140 to repair, i'm unsure as to what the cost would be to repair the back as well.
alternatively you can buy the glass itself and replace it yourself but in my case it was cheaper to just have lg fix it.

When this happened to me I just bought another one that had the opposite damage. You could probably get away with a water damaged phone if the digitizer isn't sensitive to a little h2o.
Is that all that's damaged?
Pictures? Did you fall on it or something, I mean, 185 lbs, lol...
Picture or it didn't happen

Lol yeah if 185lbs was dropped on it I feel like more than just glass was damaged.

get the front and back replaced rough estimate= 150+60=210 $ best of luck
well i took it in to get repaired.. the guy came out half way through the repair and said that they put a new screen in but that it wasn't responsive.. i'm thinking more than just the screen and back broke.. the guy said it was for sure their screen though.. he told me that they'd order a new one and have it done tomorrow.. hope it was actually a faulty screen...
Leave us an update. I got my pop corn nearby

Question - screen / digitizer repair

Guys, I have a first gen nexus 7 to repair, Im pretty handy as I repair quite a lot of stuff but I haven't done one of these yet.
The question I have is can the digitizer be separated from the lcd panel? I've noticed that you can buy digitizers separately and together with lcd panels. But I read a few things where people say they can't get them seperated? I have a heat gun...can it be done? Or should I just pay more for the combo?
Thanks guys.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No no no no......you definitely want the combo. The seperate pieces would need to be bonded and thats a pain. The combo is definately the best route.
best route is to sell it on eBay for parts and get the new nexus7
I've taken a look, you guys are right. ...there is no way that digitizer is coming off that lcd with destroying both. Im good as this stuff, and even swapping the combo is a pain in the ass!
