Now As We all Know . Somehow Xperia SP Has a wifi Disconnecting and Range Issues . Now i tried Mailing Sony Many Times But Everytime They Gave Me Stupid Things To do Which Doesnt Even Make Sense And i Gave Up !! Since Then I been Experimenting With My Router Settings !! And Few Days Back I Finally Fixed It . Now My Wifi Connection Doesnt Drop at all Unless I go out Of range !! and now my range issues also been fixed as i compared it My xpeia S i get better bars than XS when im In another Room. I dont Know If it Will work for All of you !! But I hope It does !! So Im Gonna Tell You How i did it !! You do Exactly As i say and Post Result Here
- Login INto Your Router via PC ( It should Be 192.168.1.1 In Most Cases ) But If It Isnt And You Dont Know What is it .Open Cmd And type ipconfig and You will see everything
- Go to Wireless Settings
- Now You will see Wireless Network Name Aka SSID - You can name It Whatever You want .
- Next should Be Region - Choose Your Country
- Next Channel - It stays in Auto But You select it Manually to 2 ( Channel - 2 )
- Mode - There are Various Mode to Choose from Example - 11b Only , 11g only , 11n only , 11bg Mixed , 11bgn Mixed
But you Choose 11n Only as i found it it works the best with XSP somehow i dont know why !!
- Next Channel Width - My Router Has Only 3 option ( Auto , 20Mhz , 40Mhz )
Same Here i Tried All But 40Mhz Works Like a Charm
Note - This is My Router Settings And Every Router Is Diffrent From one Another !! So i cant Guarantee you it will work for you !! Im just sharing What I hav fixed Myself to help you Guys !

802.11n can use the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
The frequency of 5 GHz band is less crowded than the 2.4 GHz band, since less amount of equipment working on the 5 GHz band.
In addition, you can count on the best performance within the network.
But 5 GHz band has one drawback, it does not support the signal over long distances.
Hmm my rounter doesnt have the Mhz setting
Never use any channel beside 1, 6, 11. You can do it only if you are know what you are doing.
Tech info: channel 1 doesnt intefere with channel 6, channel 6 doesnt interfere with channel 11. Any other channel overlap part of 1, 6 or 11 channels and your Wi-Fi going to be bad.
Obviosly 802.11n selection will make best speed/connection because SP has 802.11n chip. But other devices in house probably dont have that.
Tech info: I have at home:
3 mobile phones, 1 of them 802.11g, others 802.11n
1 PC, 802.11n
4 laptops, 3 of them 802.11g, others 802.11n
1 tablet, 802.11n
So probably you should use 802.11g only mode.
5GHz is the same as with 802.11n. Most of devices cant use it.
Then you use 40MHz channel - you are bastard. You overlap channels around in 2.4GHz. Do it freely in 5GHz, dont do it in 2.4GHz

Also I have no issues with SP, but Z one sometimes disconnecting all over.
I think it caused by - sleep policy (I enforce that to never disconnect just because wifi wakelocks) and "Avoid poor connections" (I never enable that, you can switch by yourself).

Wifi works
Thanks a lot man.. last 2 months i was really worried about my Sp WiFi.. now its first time i'm seeing its WiFi range full even in my bathroom too :laugh::good:
add info - channel
Hi guys,
why channel 2?? I recomend using any software, wich can scan all wireless network around you and after finished, choose the least used channel.
Due to use neighbors routers, who use the same or similar channels leads the interference..
This results in a bad signal, and a lower connection speed. Try software beloow to scan yout networks.

best wifi utility
Hi, Before switching to the Wizard - I had a Magician with a SanDisk WIFI card. This little card came with the SanDisk wifi utility which was really great since is gave you an overview of all availlable networks - their encryption state, signal strength etc... all in a neat table and very nice to use. The internal Wifi software that comes with the wizard is really lacking.... Can you guys recommend a really good utility to discover and connect to wifi access points? I am already using wififofum - which is slow to load, sluggish and not very flexible. I have seen hitchhiker (http://www.kasuei.com/hitchhiker/)- but read that many users have experienced major bugs and errors with it . Any other good option - quick, flexible and easy? Cheers.
I use PocketWinc, works really well for me Does all what you want. Ik gebruik dus PocketWinc, en dat doet exact wat jij wilt. Vind het fijner dan alle andere vanwege wat jij al opnoemde. Enige nadeel, hij is niet gratis... http://www.cirond.com/pocketwinc.php
[edit] damn F5/refresh XD [/edit]
PocketWinC it's not free but not expensive. 8 to 9 euro's including updates.
how did you get pocketwinc workin with a wizard?
in my opinion the best id wififofum 2.0 which which now works with WM5, lts you search for networks and see which have WEP enabled and which don't allowing you to have FREE internet access. I sat in an industrial state the other morning waiting for the garage to open, picked up a linksys router with no security and wahey, I was surfing the net FREE!!! Plus to double the deal the software is free, haven't got a link, do a search on google, the latest version in the forum.

i installed wififofum after you mentioned it, works good. but my problem is the service provider in my area requires a proxy, i installed netfront and put the proxy but still, no luck. it connects to the network but i can't brows the web or use messenger. (i know this is a different topic but i posted a new topic and no one replied )

an other great application is WiFi companion, but also not free http://www.socketcom.com/product/SW1221-596.asp I have WifiFum and really like it. Ipdash can also help you
And if you want a good working free utility i can tell you that Hitchhiker from Kasuei.com is working great. REMARK you need to install .NET Compact Framework 2.0 The link is on their page, but to install you first need to add it to the pocket PC using your PC (do not install yet on your device, but first disconnect the USB cable and kill the activesync on your PDA). Afterwards you can install it on your device (do not install on sd card!)

the wifi connection manager that comes with this device is really starting to annoy me. it tries to connect to ap's that aren't even within range. for example i'll be at starbucks connect to 'tmobile' then go to a friends house and connect to 'linksys' get home and expect it to connect to my home network but when i go to the wireless page it says 'connecting' to tmobile then it will go and try to connect to linksys..... ugh it really pisses me off!!

is there a wifi utility that allows connections of two ppcs? so that they can transfer files between them?i would rather do this than bluetooth
mimminito said: is there a wifi utility that allows connections of two ppcs? so that they can transfer files between them?i would rather do this than bluetooth Click to expand... Click to collapse You want to create an "Ad hoc" wireless network between two devices. I've just started using pocketwinc and it has the ability to start an ad hoc network, once it's created you can just connect to the new network using the other ppc. I'm not sure how to transfer files once you're connected but I expect one of the improved file explorer apps will be able to do it.
I've just purchased PocketWinc and whenever I start it, I get an error: Unable to locate adapter. If it was turned off, please turn it on now. Click to expand... Click to collapse What's going on? My wireless is enabled???
Hmm, I just checked the vendors website and they don't list the Wizard (or any of it's psudonims) as supported hardware. How are you guys getting it to work?
Wifi Slowes down D-link router
Hello every body. I just buy a brand new D-link Wi-Fi Router and installed it in my home. But when I try to connet to wireless thats happen: First click to some link: Super connection no problem Second click: Little slow connection but no problem 3th click: Very very slow connection 4th click: no connection (but Wi-Fi is still connected with full connection status), or keep slow working. When I dissconect and connect again everything goes to start again - fast connection, slower, slower, no connection. What happen? I am sure I installed the Wi-Fi correctly, and this model is very very popular. I have no chance to check with other wi-fi devices. I read that I need to set registry to working with G router, but where in the registry exactly? If there any third party programs to connect with wi-fi for smartphones I will try it. If there are any connection setting for router or for phone i will try it. Thank you.
idk man i have D-Link Router here and its so great no probelm with it

Wireless-N, how can you tell?
My EVO is fully nand unlocked, running the Baked Snack 9.6 ROM and I would like to know if my EVO is using Wireless-N. My router is a Linksys WRT320 in mixed mode (g/n). It is connected to the router, but I want to know if it's connected as a G or N device. Thanks.
en verdad preguntas eso??? LOL Hey set the router to broadcast just in wireless n....
There's an app called system panel and in it there's a place that gives you network info and it tells you your link speed.
go into the wireless settings... click on WiFi, click on the network (SSID) you are connected to. An info box will pop up. If you are connected at 65mb or above, you are on WiFi. Be sure and be close to the router when you do this.

motorola flipout with motoblur
Ciao Ho comprato questo telefono motorola flipout with motoblur . Volevo sapere se esiste un programmino che mi permette di usarlo tipo router . Cioe' se posso navigare col mio portatile usando come connessione il telefonino . Nel HTC c'e' per esempio Hotspot wifi .
you should write in english in this forum, otherwise you can go to an italian forum.
Hello I bought this phone with motorola Flipout MOTOBLUR. I wanted to know if there is a program that allows me to use this type of router. I mean 'if I can surf with my laptop using the phone as a connection. HTC in there ', for example WiFi hotspot.
flipout used for surfing...? Hello sajmon128 . Now after some experimenting I have determined that with WiFi enabled you will only be able to use the connection for surfing using the handset. MediaLink will allow you to connect to the internet using your laptop as the input device & your handset as the internet link, but it will only make the connection using your carriers network (Data plan recommended). I have not managed to convince the phone to connect using the wifi whilst linked to pc via Medialink . I will look around for a suitable app for you (if one exists) and report back here. Keep checking back here & who knows. Stay Breezy & Be Lucky... Peace...

Wifi problem

Boa tarde, meu camarada. Estou com o mesmo problema e até hoje não tive solução. Está fogo
jphmachado said: Hello, I changed my screen and broken the wifi part. Some on have the trobleshooting or the eletric scheme? thanks, sorry for my english Click to expand... Click to collapse I had my wife's X Play sent for microphone repair last month (on warranty). It got back with a new screen and motherboard (new IMEI and all). It will now only find and connect to my 5ghz network, won't even find my home 2.4ghz WIFI networks (I have 2) or my neighbour's. But it would list other weak 2.4ghz networks that are much further away from our house. I tried factory reset, nothing. Went into my router and changed channel number (was 13, set it to 9) and then a few other settings (maximum clients). It suddenly found the 2.4ghz network and connected. Very strange.
In some countries channel 13 is enabled, in others the allowed frequencies end at channel 12. It may be some different firmware or regional setting which leads to the problem with channel 13. For compatibility reasons one usually tries not to set the router to channel 13. There is a high risk that you will get a device which is incompatible with channel 13 in the future. But you may want to configure your mobile that it recognizes channel 13 before setting the router back to another channel.
