[Q] Setting CPU using governor for battery saving - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have been using SmartassH3.
What is a good governor that can potentially save battery life?
I like to have it so when the screen is off it is using the least battery as possible.
When it is on I'm not draining battery (like if I'm only using facebook for example) it shouldn't go to the max setting.
Here are my setting
162MHz and 1998MHz
Kernal 3.4.49 AGAT Gs3 v0.3.3+ on MF9
Thanks for the input

As a new s4 owner im wondering thr same thing.

baller1 alot of things depends as it's not single factor. First the biggest battery consumption on our device comes from the screen so change the blacklight to lowest possible. The second is service/process which runs this would actually depend user to user and based on that your own SetCPU settings. If you have alot of service you never use then disable it on startup and from restarting. Also cut down on media intensive stuffs like widget and live wallpaper or other elements that's always updating. The last one is network bases which would depend on the overall network quality and type of service your connected to in this case find the best radio that works for you first and then depending on your setup push data on given interval. If you stay connected you use more power.
Find a nice rom for example CM7NB and use cfs-lv kernel from faux and let the gov in setcpu be smartass and scale the max/min frequency be 245mhz-768mhz and you can run it with no problem. If you need more power for something then just add next one in setcpu. Also you may want to setup a profile for idle/screen-off mode and set it to ondemand 245-368mhz.

I'm on RoyalGinger 2.0 with the latest kernel that faux had for stock voltage.

you can set a profiles up that change how much power u want, you can make 1 when you shut the screen off and its in stand by and another 1 when you turn the screen on...i do that and it helps alot.
Pm me and ill send you my profiles I use, you'll just have to open setcpu and import them

Royal 3.0 w/demonspeed

Hello
I have been using the latestversion9 demonspeed kernel with royalginger 3.0
Royalginger cpu settings min122 max1200 superbad governor.
I have setcpu installed but only to read cpu specs and temp.
Anyone else run this setup?
Lately it hovers at 100% then will dive down a bit faster.
I may set a different governor ?

Try Scary governor, its based off conservative instead of interactive/ondemand like smartass and superbad. Screen off profile is the same in all.
have you properly calibrated your battery? 2 ways to do so...easiest way would be to download the app from the market Battery Calibration by NĂ©Ma. wait til your phone is fully charged then run the app
option 2- drain your battery all the way down until the phone turns off then turn the phone back on to get rid of that little extra bit of juice left in the battery. with the phone off, charge it fully until its 100 percent. then reboot into recovery>advanced>wipe battery stats. reboot afterwards and you should be good to go

HUGE battery drain

At night my galaxy s4 battery goes down by 70% in about 6 hrs. Why is that? How to improve the battery?
I am using set cpu to set a night profile where the cpu speed is 250-500 mhz governer ondemand and I/o deadline. How to improve the battery?

Check the battery subsection in your settings, it'll tell you what is using all the battery

Will using setcpu on i9505 will help to improve battery life

Will using setcpu on i9505 will help to improve the battery life. If yes what frequencies should I set for screen off and screen on.
Yes it can if you under clock.
Try a few and see what's best for you, every phone is different.

Yes as mentioned above. Just under clock and remember to under volt as well.
Alternatively without root and stock, just use power saving mode

Best kernel tweak settings

Ok. I have echoe rom v2 with its latest kernel.
I want good battery life but also good performance. Should I leave it all as default, or get a kernel tweaker? If so which one, and whats a good governor to use that won't suck up the battery? Also what about min and max cpu settings?
Many thanks guys.
