[Q] Internet problem - Windows 8 General

hello to all
when i use internet in win 8 after 15-20 min my internet speed comes down and after 3-5 min router hangs and disconnect from internet(it connect to internet automatically after 30 sec but it has slow speed) if i restart my router the speed become fast but after 15-20 min my speed become slow again and i dont have this problem in win 7
any one know whats the problem???
thanks

If your router is hanging, its definately not windows at all. If you didnt have the issue in windows 7 then its more likely that the fault has developed around the same time you got windows 8.

what???
English, not only is it text speak its not even a normal structure.
Anyway. I said neither of those things, I clearly said the issue cannot be windows. Windows has no way to make the router hang. If the router is hanging it has clearly developed a fault (how I do not know), if you never had the issue on windows 7 then it is most likely coincedance that the router starts having issues around the same time you obtained windows 8.
Try a router firmware update, if the router has any issues that will fix it, if the router does genuinely have issues with windows 8 (incredibly unlikely) then any self respecting device manufacturer would have probably patched it and again that should fix it.
If your still having problems. Try a windows refresh.

"r u" means "are you"
and i will update router firmwere and see what happen

You see, hardware on windows 8 and windows 7 use different drivers. So.. We can say ( as an inference ) that some binary code within the driver used in windows 8 is not fully compatible.
Or as what sixsixsevenseven told before, it might be the router firmware.
So here, either windows 8 or router, both need to be checked. Make sure the driver and firmware are the latest one from your vendor.
If the problem persists, contact your vendor and windows support. That's the best solution.

[Q] Windows 8 CP Wifi not working on College Campus

Hello,
I am on an HP Folio 13-1020us running the Windows 8 Consumer Preview 64 Bit. The Wifi can see the networks but it cannot connect to the schools network. I can connect off campus just fine, and I can connect without any trouble in Windows 7
This is very inconvenient for me, but its more difficult to handle considering my friends old Sony laptop has been able to successfully connect through wifi, so I know that it is not because "its just beta"
I am at Western Oregon University, where we use a WEP2 network. I have been to our IT guy and he patched me through as an exception, so theres no problem on the network end.
So far I think I have honestly read every single forum and answer to this, on campuses or not. Please if anyone has any ideas that would be great! But please don't list "Try uninstalling then reinstalling drivers, or updating them" I have the absolute latest drivers to all the components so far.
I have also tried to try the disable Mini Virtual Wifi Port, or whatever it is named, but it does not show up in my networking list.
Thank you very much!
Does your campus have an unsecured guest network? try that if it does.

No it does not but I tried at a Starbucks. No problem whatsoever. and tried with my phone. Also working but not reliable enough on the phone end to use full time
Double-check with your college's IT department and see if they blacklist/whitelist operating systems. Could be Windows 8 CP is getting blocked by the internet security.

Thats what I thought as well, but my friends laptop works on wifi on windows 8
Did you ever figure this out? I'm considering upgrading to Windows 8 here at BYU but we use Cisco and if my WiFi isn't going to work I can't upgrade.

Incredibly Slow WiFi Speeds - XPS M1530

Well I did some research on Google, and the solution can't be to just get a new wireless card.
I just installed Windows 8 Professional, and I'm running a Dell XPS M1530 (2.1Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Model, 4gb Ram)
I understand it is a little dated, but my WiFi is INCREDIBLY Slow.. Speedtest.net shows download speeds of no more then 2-3mbps, Windows 7 64 was giving me 20-25mbps, also all my Android Devices are showing the same as well.
This is a fresh install so there should be nothing using my WiFi on the system.
The Wifi Card that came with the PC is a
Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card by Broadcom
I can't find a solution, I downloaded a 80mb drivers from Broadcom that was for Windows 7 (No download for Windows 8) and it just failed, I don't understand where Windows 8 automatically got its driver from then. Right now I'm messing with settings to see if I can get my original speeds back, but I was hoping someone else who had a WiFi issue like this one could help me out?
======================SOLVED======================
Ok, if anyone is having this issue with ANY dell laptops that aren't giving correct speeds and you are running any of the following chipsets/models of wireless:
1390, 1490, 1500 series
Then you need to download the following from Dell's website
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails?driverId=GGMKP&fileId=2940568496
You will notice is says it is for users outside of the US and JAPAN, but it worked completely fine for me, and I am in the US (So is my laptop )
Anyway, uninstall the older drivers you have by going to Device Manager, and then just run this installer, everything should install fine and Wireless will be up and running with no problems!
Try running the driver installer in Win7 compatibility mode. Win8 is NT 6.2 (Win7 was 6.1) and should be backward-compatible for drivers. However, many driver installers will fail if they *think* they are on h wrong version.
Alternatively, make sure that 802.11n mode, or at least a or g mode, is enabled in the driver. It sounds like you're getting 802.11b speeds. I don't know *why* the driver would default to using b only, but it is an option on pretty much all WiFi drivers. You can find this setting by accessing the driver through the Device manager, or the Network Connections Adapter Properties info.
I will have to update my post. I tried all settings, there wasn't even anything for N, but I set it to B/G and just G, but I was getting the same speeds.
After much research I came across some fellas that were using the Dell Wireless 1510 (I'm on 1505) and they were having the same exact issue. One solution was to download a specific driver to get the wireless to function properly and extra the .INF files to install manually. Well I did that and I got IRQ errors in Windows 8 resulting in crashes. I looked more on Dell's website and found some drivers for the 1505, 1510 and a bunch of 40xx series if I remember correctly, as well as many others that are used to fix this issue, and they worked in Windows 8 without compatibility mode and installed fine.
I now have my 25/4 connection back on track!
I'm going to edit my post as soon as I get the files and correct links around, I know a lot of people may be having this issue with Dell Laptops and Dell Wireless hardware and just don't know it, I didn't notice until I started downloading files.

[Q] WiFi Tether Causes a BSOD in Laptop Using Intel WiFi Hardware

On a rooted Nexus 4 using stock 4.2.2, if I enable Wifi tether then connect my laptop (a Lenovo T520 using Centrino Advanced-N 6205 hardware with driver v15.3.1.2) I get a BSOD within seconds. I am using the stock tether app.
I read elsewhere that I am not the only one with this problem, but Intel refuses to acknowledge it. I even waited for an updated Wifi driver to come out, which I installed today, but the problem persists. According to this thread, the workaround is to set the Local IP to 192.168.1.100 instead of 192.168.1.1 and the DHCP starting IP to 192.168.1.101 instead of 192.168.1.10. But since I am using the stock tethering app these settings are not available. Is there a tweak app that would allow me to do this? Or are there other workarounds to this issue?
TIA

That's a bummer! I don't know of any mods that cater for adding options to WiFi Hotspot in the stock settings. I would strongly recommend using a third party app such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
I had 3 Bluescreens in 10 minutes on Windows 7 until realized that the tethering was the problem. BUT i reverted my Intel Driver from 15.4.1.1 (23.01.2013) to 15.1.0.18 (20.02.2012) and it works now.
The laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad E130 with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 Chipset.

I'd rather change the tether app than use an outdated WiFi Driver...
Is it just me, or does this seem to happen only on Lenovo laptops. Maybe the problem is in one of the custom apps?
Also this does not happen on windows 8, only on w7
I have t520...

same here.
According to this post from INTEL commuinty (communities.intel.com/thread/33377)
only tethering between INTEL wireless and QUALCOMM S4 based mobile phones will lead to disconnection or BSOD.
including
intel wireless n1030/6300/n130/6235 ,etc
vs
Xperia Z/Nexus4/Xiaomi2 or even Lumia920 running WP8.
I'm using dell N4110 with intel n1030 , and this happens both on Win8 and Win7.
the post above also mentioned enabling FIPS encryption on windows could help, but it didn't work for me on Win8.
using older inrel driver might also help, haven't tried yet.
it seems intel wireless and qualcomm s4 is incompatible.
The issue was reported to intel half a year ago, but the problem isn't solved.
Well this sucks I am going to change my wireless card then this really is a pin in the but...

[Q] Wi-Fi doesn't reconnect after returning from standby

I'm running Windows 8.1 Update 1 on my laptop, but whenever I come out of standby, I have to go to the device manager and disable and then enable my Wi-Fi card. I have tried updating the Wi-Fi card to the newest version I could find. Later today I'll post the computer model and the Wi-Fi card when I get home.
Sent from my HTC first using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That's a KNOWN issue if you are using a Dell Venue 8 Pro. I've done numerous Windows updates and driver updates from DELL's webpage, but this doesn't resolve the issue. I simply reboot the unit when I need to re-connect. The issue is an intermittent one for me.
I'v seen the same problem with my Asus Vivotab Note 8. If it's been in standby for very long, once you wake it up, it'll show connected, then will change to limited connectivity. The only way to get it back is to turn wifi off then back on.
OK so my laptop is an older one, the HP Compaq nx9420 with the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network adapter. I know it's an old laptop, but when I was running just Windows 8, not 8.1, the connection was fine after standby.
Sent from my HTC first using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What wifi device is actually in use on the venue 8 pro and the vivotab note 8? Wondering if there is a pattern.
I myself havent had this issue in windows 8.0, 8.1 or 8.1 update 1 on an HP sleekbook using the qualcomm atheros AR9485
My DV8P is using an Atheros card as well for WiFi
Well my laptop was shipped with Windows XP preinstalled, so its a pretty old computer. It runs Windows 8.1 almost seamlessly though, the only problem I have is lag in the start screen (avoided as much as possible) and this Wi-Fi adapter problem. If needed, I can post a screenshot of the driver information/version.
This is the driver version and information for the adapter.
Dated 2010, I presume you have tried updating/checking for newer driver revisions?
Yes I have tried to update my driver, this is the latest that I could find, there may be newer ones though.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this, but the thread is now essentially closed, I got a new laptop over the weekend, the Asus F200CA. Thanks for everyone that posted and helped me out.
You can *actually* close it, since it's your thread... There's a "close thread after posting" checkbox available to you.

Problems with Tethering

Hi xda-community,
I've got a Problem with USB Tethering with the Nexus 4:
Tethering itself works, but my PC is running so slow, taskbar is unusable.
Can someone Help? Im Clueless.
System:
Windows 8.1 Update 1
Intel i5
Nvidia GeForce GT240
12GB Ram
Smartphone:
Nexus 4 (mako) unbranded.
BL unlocked, Rooted.
Rom: Cyanogenmod CM11 (Latest Nightlies, but Problem is also on M6)
#push
That's strange. Why would your tethering affect PC performance? Is it only when tethering or is it whenever your device is connected?
Does it happen on other computers or is it just that one? ..

Probably like many and me, you too could make activated Windows 8.1 through a TAP Driver activator. I don't why the very same thing occur to me, with multiple 8.1 PCs and tethering phone combos. Everything that works fine in Windows 7 and 8 messes in 8.1. As you said I too face extremely irresponsive Taskbar particularly the Wi-Fi Network selecting sidebar that doent even popup when USB Tether is done. A sec I disconnect everything happens one by one immediately. I can't even diagnosis the IP of connection due to this lag despite its extreme slow..

I activated Windows 8.1 with a valid licence.
PC is only slow when tethering is ENABLED, not if i just
connect phone to computer.
I managed to get it working that way:
Pull out Lan-cable, but keep activated the Lan
Network adapter. Activate Tethering.
It just works fluid, dont know why.

Yes PC's Network and sharing center goes wild only with tethering and not with normal MTP or PTP connections. Plus I tried to Pull out Lan-cable and yet keep activated the Lan Network adapter. Nothing happen new, same lag occur. If possible, I'll post a video to denote what happens in my PC soon..
I think it is a NDIS driver problem:
