I got a Google Nexus 4 about a month ago. Somebody told me I should root my phone so I installed the Nexus toolkit and did all of that. I proceeded to install a buncha stuff on it like Call Master, Titanium backup, etc.
But then I kept getting notifications saying there was an update to Android 4.2.2 so I updated it thinking maybe it wouldn't cause a problem. But now none of my programs work, and when I open up SuperSU it says:
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
how can I fix this?

Do you have a custom recovery? You'll have to flash the SuperSU zip again so it can install the binaries.

What's a custom recovery exactly? I'm a complete noob to this stuff.
And how do I flash the SuperSU zip again?
Just download the toolkit from WuFresh and in it they have an for Nexus 4 on 4.2.2 proceed to root again since your bootloader should be already unlocked (when the phone boots you see under Google a lock that has been unlocked) once it's rooted again, you'll be clear, I would suggest making a fresh Nandroid after you rooted having the new OTA.

Get OTA Root Keeper from the Play Store and back up. Then whenever there is an OTA update, you just restore the back up and you will have root again.
I have a Nexus 7 and currently using the stock recovery since I want to receive 4.3 OTA when it comes out soon. My bootloader is unlocked and wondering how to push superuser.zip to my Nexus 7 via adb. I have an iMac and was wondering what I need to do with adb or fastboot in order to get my tablet rooted.
Thanks
You can always flash superuser.zip by booting in a custom recovery without installing it with: fastboot boot name_of_your_recovery.img , I recommend to take the opportunity to make a backup when you're in the custom recovery before you flash superuser. And also i advise you to install ota rootkeeper, it'll allow you to restore root after the ota update. Good luck.
Ok thanks

Hi,
I'm on kit kat at the moment and am trying to apply the latest 4.4 OTA via TWRP. It's constantly failing. The only changes I've made are root access, custom hosts file that I've reverted and busybox that I've uninstalled. Is there anything else I should look at that in some way would make the update fail?

Same question different recovery
Latest OTA update - size 1.4 mb - fails to apply....I use CWM 6.0.4.3...
I have a rooted Note 4 SM-N910F. I just received an update notification and I downloaded the update (I had to fake the status of the phone using Wanam) and pressed install. It took me to TWRP recovery and there I understood that it will not work and I won't be able to update officially while rooted. My question is how do I update my device while rooted?
This is not the Lollipop update, its just some small samsung update but I still would like to have the latest updates from Samsung.
Thanks!

TWRP not work after update marshmallow on ze551ml , did the installation via the FOTA TWRP file now need to re-enter the recovery and the unit will not enter more , someone here is going through it ?
It's been said over and over in the update thread. Apparently the update relock the bootloader so as of right now there is no root or custom recovery for M update.
