Hi all,
I've recieved a new firm version in my Xperia Z (the terminal is a prototype of Xperia Z C6603), does anyone know anything about this update? I suppose that if I update the terminal I lose root access, but I need it so I dare not do it
Thx

I don't know and I've tested to connect the terminal to PC Companion and It says that it has the last update installed but I received the update through OTA
I'm thinking you're from the future and came back in time just to brag that you have a newer firmware that nobody yet has

Did you do the update? Because on your second screenshot showing your system information you have the old firmware.

No, I haven't updated the terminal because I need the root access and I don't want to lose it.
Only I'm asking for information about the update, but I saw that there is no one who has received this update.

But it's good to know that Sony keeps working on software for Z.

That is just a certifying thingy. Releasing the firmware is based on SE. If you notice, there are so many versions never exists in the real world .
The .283 was a pre-release only for nordic countries, the rest of you buggers will get .42 in a few days.

I don't think that. I have arc with 4.0.1.A.0.283 firmware and active with 4.0.1.A.0.284 firmware and they both have Android 2.3.4. They are world generic so you are wrong. And I am from Croatia by the way.

I dont know how and why, my LT15 .368 was updated to .42, skipping 283. One thing I noticed is Companion was not able to update my ARC, instead I use standalone updater from Sony and without any trouble, it was updated to .42
My arc was previously 368 rooted. .42 is lightweight for sure but seem no auto brightness feature in DISPLAY.

May be old bootloader (in new China rom) causing issue. Then flashing with mobile Odin may work.

Not gonna risk it
Indeed mobile Odin is much safer in this regards, it can't flash any sensitive partition. So even if you flash wrong way it's just soft brick. Two dangerous thing to flash are pit and bootloader, that mobile Odin never touch.

Might also want to update your Odin to 3.07. I don't think it's the reason for the failing but it doesn't hurt.
I also believe it's a bootloader problem.
im using the jamaican dmc1 rom since yesterday.. i flashed the one i got from the android development thread.. the thread that hosts odexed and deodexed stock rooted firmwares..
the jamaican firmware is branded.. digicel if i remember correctly.. though its branded, i didnt notice any carrier apps installed.. just the carrier boot animation.. so i just installed the stock boot animation and now i have an unbranded rom..

haven't really noticed anything drastic.. but when i was on dmb6, i have 6 shortcuts on the notification panel and it chugs/lags when scrolling to the left whenever i pull the tray down.. and here on dmc1 its not happening.. i didn't perform a wipe btw..

I'd installed Jamaican DMC1 from prerooted stock firmwares thread too, after that I've installed polish XEO CSC and the stock boot animations too , and everything works fine. It seems that Wi-Fi problem is fixed now, but I need more time to find it out.

Really?, did you update yet?, to which version?, which region is your phone?
Nothing for india
after 40 minutes updating it installed OK, I booted the phone and got "updating android: optimizing app 2 of 2" then "launching apps"
checked in settings "about phone", nothing changed in versions. I assume "update service" can't do partial updates as OTA do.

Yes! My phone is Poland Generic, after I flashed it by Flashtool, originally got that from TMobile PL.
I downloaded the 9,2MB file and than the update process which you start manually was like 2 minutes lol.
Just rebooted itself, optimized apps and voila.
Version now - .434.
THAN I got some Sony apps and widgets upgrades - weather, new app world clock, top contacts.
