[Q] Eclipse IDE - How to show toolbar all the time on default - IDEs, Libraries, & Programming Tools

Hey,
It irks me to always have to go to Window --> Show Toolbar.
Can I have it showing toolbar all the time on startup of the IDE? I looked through preferences, but I seem to be missing it!
Thanks!
Edit: Also, is there a way to right click on an open tab and show it in the package explorer or a work around for this? Thanks guys!

Getting rid of the bottom of the today screen

Hi,
I've looked, clicked and sworn at it, but I just don't know how to get rid of the small bar at the very bottom of the today screen, just above the softkey indicators. At the moment it just has the (standard t-mobile) mini battery icon and the mini connection icon.
I've got no idea where the controller for this part of the today screen is. I'd really love to get rid of it altogether and have a few extra pixels for pocketplus. It just seems to be totally wasted screen real estate for me. I see other people have got useful stuff in this area, if there's a personalisation programme out there for it, please hit me up.
Cheers,
Chris
If you just want to remove those icons - which removes the tray as well - see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40133
If you want to remove it altogether, try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27331
And if you want to customize the tray with icons to specific apps, try "PHM TrayLaunch" - it's part of the PHM PowerToys - can probably be ripped out somehow and made stand-alone.
Sorry guys, ToggleToday is still WM2003 only right now. I'll update as soon as I get a few minutes. It's complicated to write, since the tray gets refreshed on screen rotations etc. And I'm just too busy to deal with it properly right now Soon...
V
Hey, thanks very much guys
PHM TrayLaunch looks like a very useful app, but I'm struggling to successfully add programs/icons. For example, if I want to have ActiveSync as one of the icons in the tray, does anyone know what should be entered as the "target"?
I'm afraid I don't have my phone in front of me, but trying navigating through your \windows\start menu and checking the properties for existing shortcuts.
Eg Find activesync, display properties, and it will display the target for the shortcut. That's your baby.

oops
Unfortunately I can't find a way to display properties for a shortcut - Explorer's "tap & hold" menu only allows you to cut/copy/paste etc - there's no "properties" window like there is on normal PC-Windows.
Fork, try gsfinder or another explorer replacement.
Also try having a read through this:

Thanks Vijay, I've downloaded Resco Explorer 2005 but cannot find the ActiveSync shortcut anywhere on my device! Does anyone know what the shortcut is to start ActiveSync?
It's not obvious!
\windows\replog.exe
V
Thanks for the reply Vijay, but replog.exe doesn't exist anywhere on my device.
Sorry, missed one letter
"\windows\repllog.exe" on my Universal.
V
Thanks Vijay, bizarely repllog.exe doesn't show up in my Windows folder using Resco Explorer, but setting this as the path gives me an ActiveSync icon in the tray - so it's obviously finding it.
Unfortunately, clicking the icon doesn't launch ActiveSync. It briefly displays "Connect to" in the top title bar before disappearing, and the Today page remains onscreen all the time.
Any other suggestions you can think of?
Thanks,
Fork, it depends on what state the activesync app is in at the time. It doesn't always like to show itself in my experience as well. Not entirely sure why. Sometimes when you're disconnected it will show, sometimes when you're connected it'll show?
In resco, ensure you're displaying hidden files, system files and rom files.
V
Thanks Vijay, I hadn't spotted that option in Resco Explorer - it shows up now.

Programs Window... Link?

When you click on Programs on the Start Menu you get the Programs window, right?
How can I link to that?
I want to add it to an icon on cLaunch. Tried the "windows\start menu\programs" but it opens file explorer in that location. I want to access the same window you get if you tap "Programs" in the start menu.
Anyone?
Thanks!
erm its difficult.
The easiest way to get to the same looking window for Programs is to get hold of a file called Folderview.exe. That does it. But it only does that folder anyway.
If you can program or create a script then you can launch the programs screen by sending keystrokes to the Start menu but again only shows that folder.
If you want to show the files in any folder but in icon view rather than list then you can either get something which changes the built in file manager to show icon view or else use a separate file manager for it like Explorer (formerly gsfinder++). That way you get the same sort of look.
Sorry I dont have the links to all this stuff but it might help you searching.
Folderview.exe... can't find it. is it supposed to be part of WM6 or is it an add-on?
See if this works
From the "IPhone like..." thread, see if this works.
\Windows\fexplore.exe"\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

it's added to wm6 devices by HTC as part of the HTC today plugin.
got it. Its just what wanted. but...
Internet favorites files dont show up, but that is not so bad.
The other diference between this prog and clicking the "programs" link on the start menu is that, when I enter a folder, "Games" for example, if I press hardware key "OK", the program closes, while if i clicked the "programs" on the start menu, and entered the "Games" Folder and pressed "OK" it would go back to the original "programs" window.

That's interesting ...remember what it was called? Google returns empty.

Need a lot of help with my app!

Hey guys
I'm creating a Windows mobile 6.1 application and now i need a code that activates the backlight camera just by a buttonpress. Anybody that can help me, maybe supply me with a little exe or a code sample? I'm writing in C#...
Second, I wonder how to execute a command when the user of my application presses the X button in the right corner of the 6.1 system. I want a dialog popup menu to show and ask the user to quit or no. Hopefully you'll understand what i mean.
And last, i want to "disable" the visual keyboard icon shown between the mainmenu lists... i don't want it to show, if you get what i mean
Best regards
None of the currently 8000 peoples that can help me??
well, when I programmed some software with Object Pascal for WinMo 6.5 I spent hours trying to find some code to hide the keyboard icon, but I never solved the problem... But the icon depends on the program the application is started from. That means if you start it from File Explorer it is shown in the middle, if you start it from Total Commader it is shown in the lower left corner and if you start it from the start menu (shourtcut) it is hidden.
Maybe this is the same in C#...

Replacing Opera with Internet Explorer

Hi. I have recently got a Touch 2. On the tabs along the bottom of the screen, the fifth tab from the left is the one featuring a 'globe' icon. Tapping it opens the 'Opera' browser. I prefer using Internet Explorer and (at the moment) have to open that by using the 'Start' menu. Is there a way of making IE the default browser so that it starts when the 'globe' tab is tapped? I imagine this requires dumping of 'Opera' and making tapping of the 'globe' icon leading to IE. HTC gave me a solution, then, when that didn't work, said, 'It can't be done.' Any ideas? Cheers
I know exactly what you need...
1. Find application called M2DC on this forum.
2. Install it.
3. Run it. There are some tabs at the bottom of the screen.
4. Find tab "Internet" and click on it.
5. Then change the path to the Internet Explorer in the Windows folder.
6. That's it. You should be able to use globe icon to run IE.
(I am not sure, but you maybe need to softreset the phone after changing that.)
Hi, Mekki99.
I did that and it works, well almost. IE starts from the tab on the 'Today' screen, but then says 'Cannot find 'hxxp:///home'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.' If I advance to the relevant menu to go to the 'Home' page, it finds the one i have lodged as the Home Page. Where to from here? Cheers.
why do you wanna surf the net with internet explorer and not opera mini 5, which is super fast compared to the old opera or internet explorer?
Quite simply, I prefer IE. Thanks.
Hello, my solution for this problem:
In TotalCommander go into registry folder (\\Plugins\registry)and go to \HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila2D\InternetWidget\
1.Changing browser- open file (WebBrowserType) and change value from 1 to 2.
2.Changing URL- open folder Customized and find file (BannerUrl) and change value to your favorite homepage.
3.Restart
Hi. Thanks for your solution.
Can you help me a bit further?
What is TotalCommander?
How do I get to the quoted registry folder?
Cheers
Hi, Ondrej.
Don't worry, I have followed your directions using a bit of lateral thinking and solved that issue. Thanks heaps.
Now can you turn your mind to the problem I relate in thread 730375 (On the 'Start' menu, there are a number of icons / applications. They all start with one tap. Except 'Internet Explorer'. The first tap on the IE icon, takes you back to the 'Today' screen, with 'Internet Explorer' briefly being able to be seen in place of 'Start', then the words disappear. However, the programme does not run. On tapping 'Start', again, and then tapping once on the 'IE' icon (again), it runs. This happens every time I want to use IE. Why? HTC Contact Centre suggested I place IE on the 'Programs' page and try that. It was the same. They have failed to respond to my response. Is there a remedy? The same behaviour occurs when opening from the 'Programs' tab on the 'Today' screen, or from the 'Browser' tab on the 'Today' screen'.)
Cheers. Dave
Hi, TotalCommander is a file manager program for windows. You have to download and install a pocket pc version. Because Iam new here, I cant write you url. Please find this program on internet. (Download cab for arm/pxa/xscale).
Start a TotalCommander and go into root (\) You will see a \\Plugins folder.
Hi, Ondrej.
Thanks. See my last post before yours. I have fixed that issue, but want to resolve the last one! Any help appreciated. Cheers.
I'm working on it.
Thanks, Ondrej.

Here with me, I don't want to use IE, I prefer to use Opera. The HTC im using came with Opera Mobile 9.5 and is the browser that opens when i click on the globe on one of the tabs of M2D. I downloaded mobile opera 10 for windows touch phones thinking that it will update the current opera browser, and to my dissatisfaction - it did not. Opera Mobile 10 appears on my program list.
How do I make it the browser that opens when i click on the globe? Should I follow the instructions provided in this thread? I don't want to mess up my registry and have irreversible issues.

Is this the same procedure if I would like to change it to any browser, say Opera Mobile 10? The person who started this thread wrote he got problems after he did this operation.

[WebTop]-[How To] Create shortcuts to custom phone actions on Webtop

I looked around and couldn't find a detailed guide on how to do this so I figured it out and decided to share..
Prerequisites:
Working Webtop
XFCE Desktop
or
AWN Manager
aLogcat > https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat&hl=en
This is a simple proccess which will require you to use aLogcat to get the activity name of the item you want to launch and then simply make a new shortcut item on your launcher.
Getting our activity name:
Launch aLogcat
Hit the menu button on your phone
Select Filter
type "activityMan"
leave the option for regular expression unchecked
--Now that your application is logging and filtered you will see a window with alot of text. This is where we will be searching.
hit your menu button again
Select Clear
Now hit your home button and navigate to the icon you would like to be able to directly launch from your webtop and click it.
Go back to aLogcat
Hit the menu button on your phone.
Choose the pause option from ALogcat
***Now were going to search for the string we need to tell activity manager which activity to launch**
Look through your log for something that looks like this: "com.p1.chompsms/.activities.ConversationList" (this one will launch ChompSMS)
In my case the entire line looked like this: /ActivityManager( 1700): Starting: Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10200000 cmp=com.p1.chompsms/.activities.MainActivity bnds=[5,343][115,483] } from pid 3088
copy the string that comes after "cmp=" (bolded above)
Creating the shortcut
Depending on which interface you are using this will differ slightly:
For AWN Manager
Open AWN Manager
Choose Launchers
Click Add
Set your name description and Icon
For Command add the following: androidlauncher --action "android.intent.action.MAIN" --cmp "<TEXT THAT YOU COPIED ABOVE>"
For XFCE
Right click on the task bar.
Choose "Customize Panels"
Next to where it says Panel 1 hit the + button to create a new Panel.
**Select the new panel and edit its options**
Set it to Normal Width | Fixed position | And then select the position where you would like to see it on your screen.
Change icon size to suit your taste. (Tip, if you would like to use the icon for the application an easy way to get it is to Google "AppName icon" and then use Google's image search. Choose an icon that's somewhere near 96*96 (you can sort by size), save it and select it from the menu.
Now that we have created a shortcut / panel
Right click the new panel / Icon
Add new Items
Launcher
Set your name description and Icon
For Command add the following: androidlauncher --action "android.intent.action.MAIN" --cmp "<TEXT THAT YOU COPIED ABOVE>"
you now have a working shortcut that will pull up the app or activity in "Mobile view" on your webtop!
Yay.
If anyone knows any more tricks with this please let me know! I have been wondering if it is possible to tell the app to come up in full screen.
** if this helped you please remember to hit the thanks button (help a guy boost his newb cred) **
Thanks for this. You probably saved me a lot of time because I was going to try to figure out how to do this.
Have all the apps on the phone worked without problems?
Also, does the Entertainment App work thru XFCE Desktop without the Awn dock?

I haven't tested enough to say whether everything works or not. I also haven't eve used the entertainment center . This was one of the primary reasons why I was frustrated with the original webtop. They gave use the ability to launch only a couple of their apps rather than just creating a mechanism for us to select apps for shortcuts. This is something I may look into developing in the future.
Awesome work! I was just going to look at this today after looking at XFCE menu editing yesterday and BAM you already did it!
Too bad I broke my webtop somehow and had to start over this morning. I'm getting so practiced I could do it in my sleep!
Upon further thinking, you could probably just create a .desktop file like the other ones have and then it would automagically get put in the XFCE menu. Then it could be scripted and added into webtopscripts or something.

Last night was my first night with a working webtop, being able to quickly launch ChompSMS , or pandora on my mobile view was top priority for me. Now that I have that mostly handled I guess I need to move on to learning XFCE tweaks. I'm really glad this helped, I was really surprised that this wasn't already hashed out and detailed, but I was glad to finally be able to contribute something over here!
Hi nineismine,
Mind to provide me a little bit of extra info on the below? Thank you in advance.
(1) How to "remove" the pre-installed short-cut apps in mobile view? For example the "Messaging". I rather prefer to replace this with the "Text Messaging" by following your tutorial.
(2) How to "remove" the pre-installed short-cut apps in webtop view? For example, mine Atrix is Asia Retail version and it build-in with the "Motorola Video" app-tray which I have no idea how to "remove" it.
I herewith attached the screenshot on my stock webtop for your reference (the stock webtop do support screenshot feature and I learn this from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17093665&postcount=3)
Edited:
I found my solution by installing the webtop2SD. My issue solved. Thanks.
