Ok, so this is a serious question... I'm trying to find the TW launcher apk. I found the framework, but not the APK and I thought there was supposed to be one.
I'm trying to replace the stock TW launcher in my ROM with Buzz Launcher and I'm not quite sure how to do so... any thoughts?

The TW default Launcher apk is SecLauncher3.apk. There is also the easy launcher : EasyLauncher.apk.
You can remove those two launchers from system/app folder then get your launcher apk, rename it to SecLauncher3.apk and replace it.
Wow what a dev question!!

if you're planning on replacing the TW Launcher with some other 3rd party app.. you can push the 3rd party app to the system using root explorer or other apps that do the same thing

Or just install the new apk you choose and at first launch you'll be asked which one you want to use (always or this time only?)
I am using the light balancer laucher and I kept the heavy TW in case of and for some comparison purpose!

Ehi guy.
Have someone tried this mod on a MCR 3.1?
Thank
Tried it for a few minutes, I really liked the app-drawer but not the Homescreen. Restoring now...

And how you can restore the sense launcher?
Just by the phone?

Because if you put some widgets on it it becomes slow, not like LauncherPro. I don't have sense i'm on Froyo (Defrost 1.4). I restored with it with Rom-Manager.

Why?
Wouldn't be easier just uninstall it?
and I think this thread should be in Themes and App. Clearly it's not a ROM development
edit: sorry cTrox, i've just checked that zip file, my bad.
If i want test it on my custom rom based on sense, after how can i restore the sense?
do a nandroid backup (in recovery mode) before flashing this, and restore that very backup if you want to go back.
Works fine, and now we need the widgets
I have been running it for a day, but I get a fc in all the browsers, is anyone getting the same problem ?
Can someone post some more screens?
Seems pretty good, but I would rather just see some more screens than reinstalling my rom etc.

If you don't like it, it is very easy to remove. I like it. Takes a bit of organising to get it to look how you want it o.

Or just do a nandoroid backup before installing it =)
I actually get FC's in browser on certain websites. Thought it as rom-problem, but perhaps not.
Here is my homescreen ect running this launcher...

Hey guys have to say love the color scheme for Samsung Galaxy s!!
But is there a way to get it for Desire? I mean launcher etc or just the color overlay ?..
A port or something?
You can download the Galaxy S Touchwiz launcher, and there are Galaxy S themes available. They only work on selected roms, but search Gala S and have a look

I sort of thrown my own rom together using Defrost as a base. It's Galaxy S styled *sort of*.
ephumuris said:
As much as i love this rom i have made some modifications It's a great base for making something nice. It's a kind of Galaxy S thing.
I took Defrost 2.5a.
Removed Launcher2.apk and replaced with touchwiz launcher.
Added Galaxy S framework from theme section here.
Removed music.apk and replaced with modified music.apk.
Removed sms app and replaced with dark themed cyanogen type app.
Added standard hosts file.

This actually looks amazing. Does the rom include the Defrost setup app to download the ocuv or is it preinstalled?
Sent from my HTC Desire upside-down
Defrost setup is already included as it is part of the base rom. Rom is just the standard 1ghz so you need to download the UVOC of your choice.

any chance on you telling us how you did this/got this rather then just posting about it?
Looks like the modded qq launcher in the android themes section.
You could try espier launcher from the market, its exactly like the iphone layout, just no widget support yet.

*facepalm* .mtz files are for MIUI roms. And that is just a laucnher who is cloning MIUI.
Try the link for info on flashing Roboto fonts, I did running CM7.1.0.1 stable with S-OFF using one of the ZIPs there from HBOOT and it went fine first time.

Well, the launcher actually offers downloading of themes in .mtz format! So I thought maybe it offered a way of installing them, to a limited extent. Seems I thought wrong.
Is the launcher available on Android Market?

Hmmm....now that i think of it, maybe it's possible? But i think the .mtz has to be specificaly compiled for the launcher?

Maybe... and if not, then the downloading is just for show? That would be pretty stupid. Integrating a feature you can't use.

If you did I would like to know how

I tried a dozen of custom roms ,they look better but i found some sort of lag in them...so i switched back to my stock rom and replaced default Samsung touchwiz launcher with 3rd party holo launcher (making it system app). It is running awesome with no lag but my problem is that when i open task manager i can see that 3rd party launcher (which i converted to sys app) shining up in active applications which i dont want..
Any help is much appreciated..

Hey guys,
if you want to use a kind of multiwindow on your device, you can do this using Xposed Framework, SAO Launcher and XHaloFloatingWindow.
I only found out to use this in order to get multiwindow running.
I want to remind people that i am not responsible for any damage that might be caused using these methods!
1.Download Xposed Framework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
2.Open it and hit the install button.
3.Go to the download menue in the Xposed App and look for XHaloFloatingWindow.
4.Download&Install the mod and activate it!
5. Reboot your device.
6.Open the XHaloFloatingWindow App.
7. Hit Moveable/Resizable and set it to enable.
8.Make sure that under System "Bottom App Pausing" is set to off.
9.Reboot again.
10.Go to the Playstore and istall the SAO Launcher (it`s something like Sidebar!): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xlythe.saolauncher
11.Open SAO Launcher and Start an app -> It will open in an window!
12. Now you can`t open an second app using SAO Launcher BUT you can tipp somewere else and open a second app normaly from your Homescreen/Drawer.
You only the SAO Laucher only for the first App. And be aware that pressing the homebutton will close your windows!
Tested on Galaxy Note & Ainol Novo 9 Spark.

YES! SAO Launcher is somthing like Sidebar. You only need to activate it with gestures :good:
wow looks pretty good.. was searching for something like that for my htc desire.. will try thx
this is pure genius. if only someone can create a much more simpler app out of this whole concept/idea.. multiwindow on stock is very much real.
because currently, resizing using current method is quite hard and you dont really get the size that you intended. well, you could, but it takes a longer period as compared to the simpler way in samsung devices
