Keyboard Auto memory - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

hey guys, I had a quick question if anyone can help me out. when I first got the Galaxy s4 I remember that it used to remember my email address and when I would type the first three letters the whole thing would come up on the stock keyboard. I know a lot of people don't like the stock keyboard but I thought it was pretty decent. Recently however, I got a replacement s4 and for some reason it cannot remember my email address. I've looked through the settings and can't find anything to address the issue. anyone know of anything that can help me out? I like using the stock keyboard so I don't really want to switch but maybe there's a setting that I'm missing? Thanks!

When you type in your email address, once you are done it should show up in the suggestion fields. Tap on it in that field and then the system will remember it.

Need some keyboard info.

So after rooting I got the HTC mod keyboard.
Now the problem is that I really like the android keyboard.
The only features that I miss on it are the suggestion of words that I have typed such as email addresses, ethnic names, etc. from the default keyboard. Also the HTC mod keyboard has a voice type button that I love very much.
Is there another keyboard that I can install that will do these 2 things and still look like the android keyboard?
I will happily use the HTC mod keyboard if it could suggest to me the emails and words that I have typed but I can't seem to find the option to enable it.
Help. Thank you.
In the Locale & Text section of Setttings, you can select the HTC_MOD IME section there. In here, you can find some different keyboard settings like Prediction, including email addresses and urls ( for some reason these aren't automatically enabled ).

I have that turned on but it only works for url bars. I wanted it so that I could enter my email address in the different log in screens for websites using one tap. So fat I have succeeded in getting the first half and the second half of the email saved as 2 separate words and i just join them by putting @ in between.
Edit: It also does not save words like "mackdaddy187" in the dictionary since it is not all letters. I use this name for all websites and it is hard trying to enter i one by one in each website.
Why don't you use Skyfire browser? It has the ability to remembe form information like usernames and passwords.

How to cause the Phone pad to search last names match

Hello
When I use the phone pad and start typing a contact name instead of number, the phone finds the contacts that their firs name match the typed values. In my HTC HD it does the same but also on the Last Name and even on the email address if present in the contact.
Is this a setting issue in the Galaxy S / Android or a limitation of the implementation?
Thanks
Ophir
Please anyone?
Good question. I think it's just the way Samsung made the dialer app.
Try to change the sort order in contacts/settings/display**.

You can use another dialer, for instance "Dialer One" is capable of that (although it is not as good looking as the stock dialer to me)

Clipboard question

Hi, I have a question about the clipboard, not sure if this can be controlled in any way. I find that in some apps it works and a lot of the time it does not.
When i do see the list i see things from ages ago in the list and wondered why it doesnt come up all the time when i press in a text field?
Are there any apps that can also make this work if android wont do it in all apps?
thanks
James

Galaxy S4 Keyboard Forgot Words

I have had my Gs4 for 5 months and a very annoying issue has recently arose.
Normally, while typing using the default Samsung keyboard it would remember commonly used words such as my email address or company name. Mysteriously this feature has disappeared. I checked under settings and both predictive text and personalized data are enabled. I haven't changed any keyboard settings and just forgot all my words and doesn't seem to be able to relearn them.
I was so frustrated that I went back to swiftkey. It learns my words perfectly but I have been really spoiled with the dedicated numbers row on the Samsung keyboard. I just wish it would work properly. Please help! Thanks.

Yeah it's the Samsung keyboard. I like SwiftKey but they refuse to add the dedicated numbers up top. Samsung needs to issue an update asap!

Then it worked again

[Q] Stock keyboard lost all saved dictionary words and will not remember them now. He

Just recently my stock samsung keyboard on kit Kat note 3 lost all of my saved dictionary words. Now that I try to save them again as I type them, it won't remeber them. I'm stumped. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks for any help.
