I tried the application but it says application not installed. I tried titanium backup and it just stays stuck on restoring.
Try moving it to the system/app directory
Check the permissions RW-R-R and reboot

Im new to this whole rooting deal. Ive been looking on you tube videos on how but the links they put never work. Is there a step by step instructions on how to root my s4.
It depends on what firmware you're on. Stay away from you tube.
First off I would review xda rules/polices as a new member
Second, wouldn't start 2 threads 6 minutes apart in 2 different sections
That said, you need to determine your build first, under phone settings.
The build will determine how to root and what you can and can't do.
Next, read, read, read on xda, not you tube--

Post your phone version and carrier when asking q's. There are several versions on this forum and that also impacts what you can do

S4 Echoe Rom v34 disable fullscreen caller photo
Hi, I have installed the S4 Echoe Rom v34 on my i9505
The installation was smooth and no issues till now. I have choosen the S5 theme during ROM installation.
All my cantacts have pictures from facebook, hence fullscreen caller photo looks bad (because of upsizing a thumbnail to fullscreen)
How can i get back the smaller photo for incoming calls?

Data not working after flashing

After flashing v35 my data is not working. I can make calls and send/rcv texts, but data doesn't work. I checked the settings for data >property>persist.radio.lteon and Text Editor is set to true.

Sorry, never used it before. Tried it but did not seem to work for me. May need a reeboot or I'm not using it correctly.

Try toggling Airplane mod. Reeboot. If not you may have a bad dl or modem. Try Surge's modem thread and ask for advice.

Look in OP there are 2 wallpaper APK's you need to inactivate the S4 version by adding .bak after the.apk. "In order to be able to apply wallpapers from the homescreen, go to system/priv-app, delete SecWallpaperChooser.apk and reboot." This issue is fixed in v. 35.1.

Install the stock phone in Aroma or any other that does not say fullscreen.

I have now switched to v35.1S5 Port Part X.
I find it much better - good S5 experience, no app crashes till now, smooth, good preloaded themes like iOS7, 3minit battery, no full screen caller photo, no developer wallpapers/boot/shutdown animations
No issues with 3G and wifi
Basically, everything i like, is in this ROM
I will keep trying different ROMS and pick a favorite in the next few days - but this sure is a top contender

In some of the aroma installation instructions you have two options depending on whether you have the old or the new bootloader, but I don't know which I have. Some people have hinted about the old one having an f and the new having a in the firmware code under phone settings. Could someone tell me how to confirm which bootloader i have so I don't mess my phone up.

S4 Echorom v34
I have tried this v34 Rom on two occasions on the same S4 device it is a At&t 1337. On normal operations everything runs fine except the Mobile Data issue I have. The phone connects 2 At&t service at 4G LTE and voice/text services work but no internet from the mobile data. I have tried multiple Straight Talk APN settings with no luck as soon as I have the phone set to use the new APN settings all the phone service is gone says No Service. This is the result seen on all the APN settings I have tried even the ones that the phone was working on before changing to this v34 KK 4.4.4 rom.
My phone is a Unlocked GSM and the phone is also rooted on all the roms I have tried.
A few days after this post I begin to get data working. In a few other echo roms v17+ and this v34 sometime when it says no service if you look under apn the list is empty; rebooting device fixes the empty apn list. In some instances no service until you select Network mode and toggle airplane mode on then off.

How do I activate the boot animations once I've downloaded them?
Sprint Samsung s4 on Echoe 35.1
I flashed Echoe v29 S5, I had a few problems with GPS and scheduled text messaging, so I wiped, then flashed 35.1 S5, Im on Sprint so went into More networks>Mobile Newworks and there is no APN option at all, on 29.1 I was able to add a sprint APN and get mobile data and messaging working. Stuck, thank you ion advance. Mike

Go into 3 Minute and set up your custom battery icon. Hundreds of choises. Shows charging, as well in many ways.

Use root explorer to fix permissions in System/app (I think). Disable other animation if there is a conflict by renaming with .bak

I couldn't find anything relevant on XDA for your device. You need the factory firmware likely and instructions on flashing it. Might be best to contact the manufacturer about that. But you can ask for help here too,

I say whatever you find off site, or even on XDA, proceed with caution and remember you flash at your own risk.
That may be your firmware, I'm not sure. I don't own your device and wouldn't know what to look for. So asking where I linked you to would be best. :good:

So I've been able to get into recovery mode, wiped everething -> no result.
I've been trying to flash with flashtools but I have 1 problem.
My phone autoboots when u plug a usb in there.
So the driver gets detected shows up in ports but then dissapears because my phone is trying to startup.
Any further help?
