I really like sabermod, very fast and fluid. It uses the latest linaro optimizations so performance is top notch

I'm extremely happy with Rootbox and Trinity kernel. Feature-filled, fast and stable.

No, I'm using stock speeds and interactive gov.

GPU is overclocked a bit by stock on Trinity, and CPU is undervolted a little bit.

1.8 ?!?! are you trying to kill your phone? I don't go passed 1200 regardless of kernel, I just don't see the need to.
Faux123's kernel. I'm one of those guys you see up there : P

Uh there isn't a best or worst! There is only opinion's. But if you want the highest clocked and most stable for that speed than i would say Redstar's 1190 kernel
http://redstar.euroskank.com/2.6.37.4/LIVE_DANGEROUSLY/OC_1190/
Just my 2 cents, like a @ssh0l3 everyone has 1
The other two posters are correct--
1. Too high and phone issues, some phones can handle them, a lot can't--be careful
2. Benchmarks are useless and overrated--I have been flashing kernals for almost a year and irregardless of my benchmarks (I haven't even done one for months), the phone seems no differnet for day to day use
3. I prefer the stock one on nightlies--great volume on audio
4. IMHO
<- what he said!

Stable/smooth ICS Rom

hey, i just got a nexus s 4g (sprint). I was wondering what ICS roms are most stable and quick? There are quite a few and i was just wondering what people thought. I just want a rom for everyday use, nothing too crazy, maybe OC and UV. but i dont want any with soft reboots or anything.
thanks
I would go with Crossbones

Does anyone read nowadays...
crossbones is good and stable but so is oics and gummy nexus. Gummy nexus has the software buttons like the galaxy nexus

My current favorite is AOKP Milestone 2, which has cool features above and beyond the rest and has presented Zero issues.
Vhgomez 1.5 and sph33r's aosp are very, very good as well.

Best kernel for Epic 4G ICS?

Any idea? Stability + good battery?
I was using Legendary before, awesome battery life while at 1400Mhz all the time. It was amazing.
Anyone know which kernel I should use now?
YMMV but this was my battery today with the newest samurai kernel tanto

This being covered time and time again in many different posts over many different threads almost warrants no answer but ill give you one and here it is
try them all flash one per day till you find one that works for you the way you like it everyone uses their phone differently so no matter what you will get different results than i do or the next person that post on this
It's really up to you, try them out and see what you like the best. I've tried all 3 kernels currently out right now and they all work pretty good. The two I usually stick with are shadow kernel and the samurai kernel. Shadow kernel is nice and makes everything feel real snappy. You can overclock to 1400 mHz and the battery life for me is good. The newest shadow, tanto, overclocks to 1500 mHz and works with voodoo control. Haven't gotten the chance to really test battery since it just came out but so far it runs pretty good. Just test both of them out, you can always flash over another kernel.

Bad question....like what's the best ROM. Every phone and every user is different. You have to try them out to see what works best for you.

Also close to stock kernels like aprosamurai's. He likes to keep his stockish with a few tweaks and some new fixes. Just my opinion of what works best on my phone. Others like earthbound's are too tweaked for me but his is really fast and bleeding edge. Bbelos's are also good.

I'm using shadow now and have used apro's too and they both worked great. You need to experiment with them, and you're going to have to tweak to get better battery life. I had several trying to constantly run and none of them were things I use a lot so they had to go. If I wanted super battery life I would have bought a flip phone and not a micromini laptop, and I wouldn't have such a joyful device to tinker with.

Stock is always going to be the best for wanting nothing but the simplicity.
Put it like this when i buy a car, i put bigger tires on my car for grip, and better handling. But i know i will loose some gas mileage but not alot.
I'll put a turbo and some internals into my engine to gain in power but will loose gas.
But if we can put bigger tires and a bigger turbo but still have the same gas results as stock, Then why not do it?
We all benefit in one area and thats why custom kernels are there for those who want options that stock doesn't provide.
Stock= Base Model
Custom = Fully Loaded
Simple as that. So everyone should try different kernels and then reply not saying oh this is the best. But say IMO i prefer this over that simply because of these reasons. Everyone will want a specific kernel because one may like different things about the different kernels

Nexus 7 roms

So i just got a nexus 7 and i was looking at some of the roms you guys have over here and was wonder which ones you guys use and why? i have paranoid android on my s3 and love it but was having problems flashing it. what others do you suggest or are you a paranoid fan?

Paranoid is killer on the N7! I love it and I would definitely recommend trying it. I had no problems flashing it.

I currently use Jr7 simply because it is very similar to stock but with a few nice tweaks. This is used with Motley kernel with GPU @ 520mhz.

i am using the new paranoid that he posted today with the trinity kernel. i dont know how i feel about this kernel yet so if you guys have any other suggestions as for kernels id love to hear them. it just seems to be a little laggy but i dont know what else it could be. didnt have a problem before flashing that kernel.
id also love to hear what you guys think of the slim bean rom. im tempted, but i love the paranoid roms.
thanks for your responses!

[Q] Best Battery Saving/Performance Kernel

hello im looking to flash a kernel over my current roms kernel but i came from developing on a motorola atrix which had faux123s kernels as the best but i couldnt get the to boot on my s3 and i have no experience with the n4 (got it yesterday)
Personally I'm using franco. It has the best balance for me.

No such thing as best kernel or best ROM. Pick one whose features fit your needs and test it.

i dont have time to extensively test, most kernels i use i notice no diffrence, me personally i keep my processor at 1.026 max with sio and usually interactive as my governor, also some kernels have gpu overclocking and some dont i cant really tell even after sifting through everything, like a good rom i am testing every aosp based rom and i cant find one to really stick out. i am asking opinions i suppose.

can i use the faux control center to mess around with the gpu? if not i may just stick to his but i like franco since it has nightlys
I guess a better question would be should i stick with stable aosp roms and kernels or go with nightlys? if anyone has a suggestion or personal prefrence i would love to hear them, i have pretty muched used xylon and franco nightlys, slimbeans, paranoid android april 26th build and liquid smooth. havent felt the need to try vanillarootbox because from what i remember its cm based anyway
All of the kernels here are great. Try them all and see. Personally I think you should start with Trinity kernel. It has awesome performance.

no one ever gives matr1x credit, but that is definitely my #1.
many people say that franco, trinity or matrix are the best but sometimes the stock kernel as the CM kernel is the best at least for battery.
now if you are gamer etc maybe franco kernel is your best choice!
