I have the MF9 software and was just wondering if you can root and install custom roms to it? Can someone link a root service that will work on the MF9 and a stock andoid 4.3 ROM

Think you are a bit confused. What rom are you on? Stock unrooted MF9? If so, can use CF autoroot to obtain root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291827

Hey guys,
I have been doing alot of research but cannot seem to come up with anything. I have a i-337. 4.2.2 mf3 firmware. I have seen the safestrap recovery but did not want to use safestrap. Is there any other custom recovery that I can use to flash a custom rom? Thanks for the help.

Thats what I figured. Everything I read is from september, so I was just trying to get the latest word. Is 4.3 out for us I-337 users? And if so, Can someone point me in the direction of the tar file to install using ODIN, if that's possible yet? Thanks a bunch.

No Odin tar for 4.3 yet, but search through the 4.3 thread in the General forum and you'll find links and instructions buried in there on sideloading 4.3 via ADB, (if you don't simply want to wait for the OTA). Note that you must have a pretty clean stock phone to get it to work. If you want root, I would suggest rooting MF3 first, then enabling survival mode in SuperSU Pro, as that's the safest way to get root on 4.3. One more thing: no custom ROMs, recovery, anything is available on 4.3, just root.
I have a L720 running the MK2 4.3 Stock(ish) and the PhilZ Touch ver 6. I want to remove all of these and reinstall the stock MK2 in advance of the new kitkat release. How do I remove all of these before reloading the stock MK2?

Flash the stock MK2 file found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601443 and your phone will be back to stock unrooted and ready for the OTA. Your data will still be in tact.
I'm hoping this is the right thread.
I'm fairly new to the S4 coming from an S2. I did root MK2 using SafeRoot method. I should not have tripped Knox or anything like that. I unrooted with SuperSU unroot option. Everything looks OK except the Device Status shows Custom. I haven't gotten the OTA yet, but when it comes in, is it safe to try, or am I going to have problems?
Thanks,

It all depends if you modded or disabled anything in the system partition. Including the hotspot mod. If you have, the ota will fail and you need to Odin the stock mk2 tar.

As far as I know, nothing in the system partition got changed with saferoot, and I never got around to installing any new recoveries or adding the hotspot mod. The hotspot mod was the real reason i rooted, but got a little concerned/confused after reading about it.If the custom in device status doesn't cause issues, I'll wait to get the OTA and then start reading about the HS mod again to see how to implement in 4.4.2 without tripping knox if possible.
Thanks for the info.

I've been putting it off for a while. I'm flashed to cwm and still on TouchWiz. Is there a particular method to doing this system update? I want to get on kitkat and keep my root, or at least be able to get root access again afterwards.
Goes look in development section. .unknown has a stock rooted...random has a stock unrooted that's easy to root

I don't know what this means, in particular. Can you link me to something? I ran cyanogenmod up to 11 when my s3 died and have been out of the community for a bit. I just want to put the OTA kitkat update onto my phone and then get root.

You can get on kitkat if you flash a kitkat rom or by odining stock NAE tar file (Please note that this will give you knox bootloader). If you visit Sacs Custom Rom 4.4.2 kitkat rom (link in my signature below). It will explain how to go from a previous version to his kitkat rom.
Basically, in a nutshell...you need to have the NAE modem (which is explained in the thread) and specific recoveries to use during flashing. Visit the thread to find out more
Hi,
I read the news that 4.4.2 is out. Is it really out?
I have stock ROM rooted using vroot. I've disabled the updates so it's still on 4.3 MK2.
Is there a safe process to upgrade to the latest 4.4.2? Any way to keep root or re-root?
Thanks

There is no root for 4.2.2, nb1. There is a tar file that can be used in Odin. There is also a work around so you can run a 4.4.2 rooted rom. See the general forum

This should be in the Q and A/Troubleshooting section, just for future reference.
Still need that Stock NC4 firmware tar.
Tried to flash NC2 over NC4, softbricked now :/
Upon booting says to use Software Repair Assistant from Verizon, can't get into recovery, can't get into SafeStrap, only Download / Odin mode.
Because once your on the nc4 ota, you cannot go back.

it's a weird quirk with the firmware. nc4 firmware/bootloader can only have nc4 based roms flashed over it. I believe Jasmine rom in dev section has a beta release you might be able to use...

I'm guessing there's still no way to downgrade to NC2 is there?

Well if u have NC4 OTA then i think you can flash the leaked NC2 kernel in ODIN, install safestrap and then can flash Eclipse because Eclipse ROM will run on NC2 kernel not NC4 kernel...
