Galaxy s4 help

Just got my s4 and was wondering if I can just root it and install a custom tw based kernel on the stock rom?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Yes you can root it, use cf-autoroot and then install a custom recovery so you can install the kernel you want to use.

Ok thats what i was gonna do but i didnt know if it was good to use a custom kernel on the stock rom
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Yes custom is better in most cases as far as customizing.

Yeah i rooted it and got a custom recovery. Im on stock rom with chronic tw 4.2.2 kernel i was wondering when the 4.3 update comes out do i need to unroot to update my software?

For you to get the new update, you atleast need to be on stock rooted with no mods whats so ever and have stock recovery. And you can get update but if you have custom recovery its aborts it
Ok thanks i just got my s4 like 2 days ago lol i love it its so much better than the s3

LMT pie launcher crashing?

Can't get it to work at all. Anyone?

Hm, this seems odd.
I assume you're running the latest version? Also, are you on stock room and are you rooted?

Fixing permission in ROM Manager worked for me.
Been using it for over a week now with no crashes. What version did you install?

How to flash a kernel?

I just wanted to know how do I flash a kernel? I'm on an aosp ROM and wanted to flash a kernel before I applied an update to the ROM. Thanks!

If you don't know how to flash a kernel I don't know how you were able to install a ROM as its nearly the same process.

Yea you just flash it in recovery then typically wipe Cache/Dalvic afterwards. However if you're flashing a ROM update you're going to want to flash the kernel after that since ROMs contain their own kernel that would just wipe out the one you flashed prior.
