[Q] Camera Settings Help - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I don't know what I did but now only 6 camera modes show up on my phone instead of the 12 and when I hit the menu button nothing happens, no settings come up or anything. The only thing on my screen is the gallery the switch camera button, video, mode and the capture button. Like I said hitting the menu button won't do anything. Is this because of a mode I am in? I don't have access to settings! I can only see "auto, best photo, beauty face, panorama, rich tone, and night" modes I don't know where the other 6 went. I'll scroll and nothing happens, hit the menu and nothing.
p.s also wondering If I can make it so I can be on the phone and take a picture at the same time?
Rooted mdl s4

silly girl I was on easy mode switched over to the regular mode fixed things...

How to turn off shutter sound?

Does anyone know how to turn the shutter sound off for Niki?
I've tried the old registry key we used to turn off old htc device like trinity. But it seems that it doesn't work for niki. (the shutter sound option doesn't show up in menu) Does anyone successfuly shut the shutter sound off in Niki?
Thanks for everyone.
when your on the camera mode, tap the screen so you have the icons, bottom right hand side theres is an icon looks like 3 lines, tap that, tap the cog symbol on this page to go into advanced settings there you will find shutter sound where you can toggle it on/off
hope that helps?
thanks. My problem is: I don't have the shutter sound setting option in advanced settings. I know in old htc device, you can modify registry key and make the shutter sound setting show up. But that doesn't seems to work on the new hTC camera program.

what niki do you have? is it an htc one or does it have orange frimware on it? ive not modded my niki in any way and that setting is there on mine. very strange!
that is strange indeed.
I just followed your steps and managed to successfully remove the sound of my Niki.
@kifklf: when you tap the "3 lines", go to the little wheel menu (suppose it's advanced settings). You should get "page 1/3". should be there ...
thanks everyone, but I'm sure I don't have the shutter sound setting in advanced mode. Guess we have different ROM version. But I guess if you can find a way (registry key?) to hide your shutter sound setting then show it up again. Then that's what I need to show up my setting option.
thanks again.

Landscape Nexus 1 Photo Gallery

Jut thought I'd throw this out there since it's new to me and I didn't see it posted anywhere else. If you hold your phone horizontally and open the gallery it works in landscape mode and gets distorted if you hold it in portrait mode. It should also be noted that if you've already opened the gallery app in portrait mode and try to reopen it in landscape you will have to kill the program first. I've uploaded 2 photos to show that it works for me at least.
Nice find bro!
hey guys, I found an even easier way to do this. press the camera button in the upper right hand corner, which causes the gallery to throw a force close dialog box. press force close and flip the phone's orientation immediately. gallery will quickly re-open itself automatically after the force close in the new orientation.
Even better find. Thanks.

My Tab can take screenshots...but I don't know how

Ok, something really weird.
Yesterday, I was showing off my Tab to a friend, and we kind of got stuck on comparing how fast the portrait/landscape switch works on ADW launcher vs. stock touchwiz. So we were tipping the device back and forth for a while when it froze for a few seconds.
Trying to get it to react, I hit back, home, power, probably in that order, but I'm not sure.
The reaction, a message pops up about the image capture being saved. Then again. And indeed, in my Gallery I now have a folder call Screen Captures and inside it there are two screenshots. One of my standard homescreen and one of a force close error message (for the calculator app I use - Kreac).
I've been trying to reproduce this since, but without any success. Is there a hidden screenshot app in there somewhere?
Hi , just keep pressing the back button and double press the power button to take screenshots.

Indeed.
Is this common knowledge that I had missed? I ask because I've seen several threads on various forums claiming that there is no app and no way to take a screenshot?
Interesting. Is there a service running that handles this feature or is it a core process?
Don't know. But I just noticed there's an entry 'com.sec.android.app.screencapture' in the application manager list.

i remember it... but ive removed it now and theres no apk, so theres no way to restore without flashing
i was trying screens with one of the root apps on the market and they all came out in funky colors so i got rid of it (must have taken sammys built in app out as well by mistake)
IMHO, best way to take screenshot on any device, galaxy tab included, is via ddms.bat ( Dalvik Debug Monitor) under dir tools of SDK. You can find "screen capture" under Device menu.
Can't for the life of me see how using DDMS can be "better" than this on-device method in general use!
This is a good find - we need a sticky for these tidbits!

It's a good tip, but I much prefer using DropCap 2 from the Market, at least for when I'm not using a full-screen application. Talking of which, are in-game screenshots possible with the hardware button method ?
I was able to capture a screen shot by pressing back and then pressing the power button twice. But that does not capture the screen that I wanted. Instead, it captured the screen of "back" when I press the back button.
This button combination does not make much sense in my opinion. Any say?
It works fine for me in most apps (including Angry Birds), but not in the stock Video player or in the Gameloft games like N.O.V.A.

Dave
Is there any other way to do it ? Ad soon as I hit back it goes back to the previous screen and take screenshot of that screen. Isnt that kinda pointless?

For this cases I suggest ddms in the previous post. ddms don't need any user interface and grab everything, also video played in stock video player. And grabbed screenshot can be saved directly on HD, rotated, discarded...
I find that "holding" the back button down until vibrates (rather than merely just pressing it) and then pressing the power button just once works consistently well for me. Haven't needed DDMS yet.
For me it works fine; keep pressing back and tap power button.

Hit back and power at the same time... and then hit power again... and you hear a sound like a camera shutter... and says it's saved.
Dear all
Very simple
. Press and hold back key
. Short press power key
screen will automatic save in folder Screen picture

Ok, I got it now. The theory is to hold the back button and do not let go until you hit the power button twice. It works!! But it takes quite a while for the picture to show up in the Gallery. I thought the screen capture did not work.
SOLVED: How to screen capture if Back key exits from the current screen
I just solved how to capture the screen if holding down the Back key exits from the application so you end up capturing the previous screen, or the Home screen in most cases.
For example, in Maps, I couldn't capture the Map as it goes back to the Home screen once I hold down the back key. The technique is to go one screen deeper; example in Maps, press Menu key then select Layers. When you hold down the Back key, the Maps image screen is displayed. Keep holding the Back key then press the Power key. Screen capture now completed on the desired screen.
I think you can do the same technique for other apps.
Hope you enjoy using your Galaxy tab as much as I do, like me having sleepless nights on the porch using Google sky map, or playing Guitar solo (paid version is much better).

That's strange... it should not go back until you have taken your finger off the back button and if you hit the power button whilst holding the back button it should cancel out any back button command.

Tips and Tricks

So I came across this youtube video "20 tips and tricks for the htc one". I actually discovered a few things I didn't know about!

3. You can split and merge event folders in the gallery
4. You can hold the shutter button when in the camera app to take a burst shot
5. Power button + home (or volume button) takes a screen shot
6. whilst watching a video you can hit the shutter button to take a photo
Some of these may already be widely known, but I didnt know about them and im a pretty long time HTC user.
Does anyone know how to remove the facebook crap from the gallery?

You can also switch between the 2 most recent apps without going into the multitasking screen. Hold down the multitasking/appswitch button on the navigation bar for a second or so and it'll switch to the previous app, pressing again will take you back to the app you just had open
