SMS over IMS? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What does it mean and should I use it

I think it's basically text messages over data. You should leave it off, it probably doesn't work with most carriers.

I downloaded GO SMS, and I entered my information and what not, and then it asks me to bind my mobile phone number, but everytime i do, it says verification failed. how the hell do I bind it? has anyone had this problem before?

I have been using DeskSMS/TabletSMS. Rarely use my phone to text now unless I'm out and about.

Is it possible to use these texting apps with an ordinary mobile number (I.e. not a smartphone)? I find my phone so small that I always struggle with texts...

Word of warning, it will stop working after 14 days unless you pay for it $3.99 for a year. At first I thought it was a steep price to pay but it really is worth it since both devices do not need to be on the same network. For example your phone can be connected by 3g and the N7 by wifi and it will still work.

I very much doubt it. Unless you are in the States and set up a Google Voice account.

Messaging is sending a lot of messages

I get this after sending like 3 messages in a row..then it happens after every single message its very annoying. I'm running stock, not rooted. Anyone know how to fix this?

Don't text so much
I believe it happens when sending more than 30 texts in an hour. Its a safety measure to prevent a malicious app from spamming texts.

That I didn't know. I'll have to look into that more.

Tablet talk also uses your cell phone number

Cloud SMS has been most reliable for me. He is adding mms support right now. You can email dev and ask to beta test mms. Tablet talk wouldn't stay running for me and I kept missing messages. Google voice has always been horribly inconsistent for me. I just use it to make international calls nowadays.

Mighty Text works just fine for me.

Can't send mms when on wifi.

Is there a way to fix this?
I'm not too familiar with this but I think you need to turn on cellular data in order to send MMS.

You need data in order to send MMS.

It's on..
Are you roaming by any chance some networks won't allow you to send MMS unless you choose to data roam. Like T-Mobile for me. I have to click on enable data roam in order to send stuff. If not maybe try to reboot your phone.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I switched to roaming and that seemed to work!
Hey thanks

You might want to be careful and read up on data roaming. You may incur hefty charges on your network if this option is selected.
Easier and safer route would just to ensure you're mobile data (not wifi) is on whenever you send or receive mms.

Slow text messages

Is it just me, or do texts take forever to send sometime. And then when they finally send, the person receiving them gets duplicates!! What is the deal with that??
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Sounds like a network connection issue. I had that happen a lot on my galaxy note II. I haven't had the issue on my G2.
