Hey Guys,
I'm new to android and still a noob ... so I need your help with smthng.
I've been looking for how to remove Nav Bar in Nexus 4 and the application that is mostly used is "Fullscreen Toggle" ... and it's said that it would work without custom ROM but it didn't work for me ... did it work for any one without Rooting or do I have to Root my Nexus ??
and if there's another way to remove the nav bar without Rooting plz tell me
Thnx
I searched "fullscreen toggle" on Google play, and found only one app in the search results. That apps description states that a custom ROM is required. So yes, you need root to use that app.

actually the one on the play store isn't the one I'm talking about ... it's that one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497558
and it's not on Google Play !!
Okay so that thread is labeled "DoubleX" not fullscreen toggle. After reading through quite a bit of it, it seems you need root. You could try using Nova launcher. I think there is an option to disable or hide the navbar. then you can set up gestures to navigate. Also see LMT launcher here on XDA. I don't know if it requires root though.
Expanded desktop is what you want. I know you said no custom ROMs, but it might help you in your search.

I use fullscreen toggle, and yes it requires root. Download the V2 , it's meant for 4.2

Like the people said above.. Try and see if a launcher works out... If that doesn't work try a custom ROM like PA ROM I believe ... Best of luck

I have these problem too..
The LMT is working, but the full screen toggle is not, I dont know what happened....

Just a heads up if no one knew... Instead of going through the system setting to delete a program, just highlight the icon of THAT game/APP/program and drag to the garbage at the bottom and hold there. You will get a "drop to uninstall" option and vua-la... hope that helps...
The thing is that that only works with apps that we downloaded ourselves. Most of wanna get rid of the apps that came preinstalled. (Which can only be done with root)

Forgot to mention that... Thanks. Only works with apps we download,
not pre installed...

Wow, what great timing. I don't mean to hijack your thread haha.
If you don't want to uninstall apps but you don't want to see them in the drawer, then the the newest version of LauncherPro can help (if you already use it)! I literally just updated like 10 minutes ago and it has a feature to hide shortcuts from the app drawer! Best feature evaaaaaar.

I've searched, but couldn't find an answer. Is there a way to remove the shadows that surround the icons on the home screen without rooting? I'm not ready to root yet, still happy with stock...this is the only thing that's driving me crazy. Any way to do it? My guess is no, but just throwing it out there. Thx!

Should be in Q/A section. There's the Androidian theme by Fyb3roptic on the market that will remove the boxes around the icons. Or you can download desktop visualizer and pick your own icons from any pictures on your SD card. As of now that's the only way without root.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for posting wrong section, I just went to general by default. I'm sure I'll root before too long, but I'm enjoying the stock experience until I do. MT4G does everything I had to root the MT3G for out of the box lol. Yeah I've used desktop visulalizer - cool, but not really the shadowless stock icon look I had in mind. I'll check out Androidian, thx again.
I've seen people talk about some ROMs that allow you to place any widget on the lock screen. I've google searched, searched here, and not finding a way to do it. Is it built into CM 10.1 somewhere or is there something additional I can flash?

WidgetLocker Lockscreen is what you're looking for. Search for it in Google Play.
I've used widgetlocker for years. What I'm referring to is a hack for android 4.2 that allows all widgets on the lock screen. Paranoid Android has it built-in.
The location of the setting will depend on the Rom, I'm not sure if CM has it. For the Xylon Rom, for example, its under: settings->xy settings->lockscreen->allow all widgets
I don't think CM has it built-in, does anyone know of a flashable zip to add this?

This is not for using just lockscreen widgets, it's for using any widget as a lockscreen widget. Only certain apps have specific widgets installed to work with the lockscren, you can't add any widget you want.
I'm still looking for a mod to flash under CM 10.2 nightly. Anybody has found anything?

CyanogenMod already have that ability, you just have to enable it, I believe it's under Settings -> Lockscreen or something like that.

Nope it doesn't and there's a feature request for it under their tracker but no progress on it at all. Only Paranoid has an option to put any widget at the lockscreen. I wouldn't have posted the comment without checking. If you have found the settings somewhere that for some reason I didn't see, please do let me know after trying them yourself.
Guys i tried Google Experience Launcher on Kindle Fire HDX 7 (Cpasjuste's rom installed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607185 - )

I was hoping it'd remove FireOS's stupid buttons and give the stock android buttons, back, home and app switcher.

Yes I also tried this, I did it from a diffent link but the launcher actually runs off the Google search app so it should be the same experience and its great, only thing I don't like is the fact that when I hold down apps to move them on the home screen when in landscape the tablet flips orientation and it is annoying. Everything works in portrait though.

I have a solution for that ,
When you open app in landscape mode , touch the navigation buttons button then pull down the notification bar and lock the auto rotation, it should be stop rotating.

Thanks, I've already paid for that app and while nice, I still prefer the stock app switcher button. The aosp rom would've been best, I'd even take CM if we ever get either of those working well.
New to all of this custom rom and rooting stuff so please excuse me if some of my questions aren't good.
Do I need to root and use a rom slot to run this or can I just use it as a launcher and still get widgets/wallpapers to work?

Yes you have to have root permissions ,rom slot -custom rom installed- , otherwise dont use any other mods you have possibility of bricking your device.

Nope, those buttons are part of the OS, not the launcher.

This is because HDX has a "reverse orientation" compared to most tablets. So what happened is the app rotate to what was "normal" landscape, then autorotate 180 to proper landscape.
There's a patched launcher that implements the reverse orientation that's a part of the HDX Gapps V2 (forgot which topic) but I have a feeling that this may need to be an Xposed module that "patch" the launcher itself.

Make a new thread for the sake of being on-topic as well as better visibility.
I like the phone, but the 16gb causes a lot of concern. After downloading my music from Amazon, it's almost gone.
I can't find an option to put music from Amazon on my sd card, is that hte new kit kat "feature"?
Also, the test message preview on my lock screen only says "New Message", ther eused to be an option that gave me a preview of the actual message..is it gone?
On the Note 3, it had a setting where screenshots would enter auto edit mode, came in real handy for me. S5 doesn't seem to have this?
When I disabled my magazine, my home screen transitions isn't continuous ..I know I seen the s5 do this in review videos.
Did you root your phone yet with Towelroot? If so go to play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix and install this to get read/write to your sd card. The other stuff I can't help you with. Sorry.

Not yet. I will this weekend tho. Thanks bud
Before you root you may want to look into fix for SHealth and ISIS Wallet (if you use it). You have to stop SHealth and Health Services in app manager and clear data and cache before you installed Xposed. You may even have to uninstall their updates if I remember as well.
Install xposed and it's service , then update Shealth and it should work fine. Once you get that done install ISIS Root Bypass 3.0 module for xposed and check it in modules and reboot and the Wallet will work fine after that.
These were two things that I use often and really had to get working to be happy with root.

Why put off until tomorrow, what you could do today, and prevent yourself from being screwed by VZW when they push 4.4.3 soon, and Root may not work with it?
In the text messaging app you'll see a setting to display the message on the lockscreen instead of new message.
Plug your phone into the computer and drag and drop the music to the SD or use root explorer to move it there.. You don't need root to do this.
No, the S5 cannot auto enter edit mode as far as I know, maybe clear defaults of gallery and set images to auto open in an editor?
As far as continuous transitions just use apex or Nova.

I do not see the lockscreen setting in the messaging app. I'm using Samsungs app over Verizons

How did you "disable" My Magazine exactly? I was able to long press home screen, choose Home screen settings, and uncheck My Magazine. This allowed me to scroll continuously or not.

You'll have to edit a file using Root Explorer then if you disable My Magazine you'll have endless home screen scrolling. I use Nova launcher which already has the option in settings. If you definitely have to have the stock launcher and you can't get infinite scrolling to work let me know I'll tell you which file to edit.
