Just to start, i have never been able to connect to 4g on my i9505. When i got the phone 4g was not available with my carrier, so i rooted the phone and flashed a custom rom right away. Once 4g was rolled out (i have the option in settings for lte) i was never able to connect.
I have tried almost everything you could think of, i am using the correct modem for my carrier and region (Australia, Vodafone). The app viaero 4G toggle to set the phone to only use LTE only to test if that works but it results in no network found.
My last step which I'm thinking probably won't work but you never know, is a full wipe and flashing back to an Australian stock rom.
It seems as though the phone doesn't have the 4g radio installed.
Could this be possible? Maybe i have a dodgy unit, and if so what do the experts here think should do?
After some advice and insight from the people here at XDA!
I hope i get done replies!
Are you sure you sim card allow you to use the 4G network? May be you need a new sim card. (This is my case)

That's an interesting thought. I might ask my carrier about getting a new card as i didn't get one when i upgraded my contact.
I didn't think sim cards had any affect on network performance though?
Here în Romania i had to change my sim to a 4g compatible one

Thanks for those quick replies guys. I'll try the sim first as doing a full wipe and reinstall is time consuming.
I'll update after I've tried a new sim
Yep u definitely need an LTE activated/capable sim. At least this was the case on my carrier. You should probably ask more about this with your carrier

here in Brazil needs a 4g proper sim card

you need to change an lte capable sim card and make sure lte is activated in your account. i have read somewhere in this forum and have a checklist of all possible solutions and the last thing i did was have my sim card changed anf told my carrier that it should be lte capable since lte is already activated on my account and it worked for me. i'm on H3G Italy.
BTW LTE capable vodafone sim card here in italy has a 4G mark at the back, maybe it should be the same there in your place as you say vodafone is your carrier.
I have recently purchased my Galaxy S4 I9505. I popped in my T-Mobile SIM, but I've encountered a problem. I cannot connect to LTE. I can get HSPA+ and EDGE coverage just fine, but no LTE. My area has LTE according to the T-Mobile website. I have tried TouchWiz based ROMS and android 4.3 AOSP (which i'm sticking with ) . I am using the "hidden" $30/month plan if that makes any difference. It says "First 5gb at 4G Speeds". Other people have this plan and they can get LTE just fine. Any ideas - Could this be a modem/baseband issue?
Hi all.
I originally purchased my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 in the UK where I was using it on LTE with absolutely no problems.
One thing led to another and I'm now living in Canada, and using my i9505 on the Bell/Virgin network. The phone connects to the 3G network just fine, but does not connect to Bells LTE network here.
Having done some research, I'm led to believe that this is due to the fact that the i9505 does not support the 1700MHz network for LTE, although the similar i337 model does.
I've read a number of topics that state it may/may not be possible to unlock this banding on the i9505, but have not been able to find any conclusive answer on whether it's possible, and if so, how to actually do this.
Any help or suggestions anyone might have would be incredibly appreciated, as I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering this.
Thanks in advance!
So I recently bought a fully unlocked D801 G2, though I did not know it is a Claro model from Puerto Rico. I just assumed all D801 models are fully compatible with T-Mobile. Before updating to 4.4, LTE with my T-Mobile SIM was working just fine in 4.2. After updating to 4.4, I am only getting HSPA+. Is this because it is a Claro model? But what would explain LTE working in 4.2 but not 4.4? This is a completely new phone and unrooted. This is my first Android phone, so I am still getting the hang of things and hope I didn't buy the wrong model.

Just go to setting>mobile networks>network mode . change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA Auto and you will get 4G then

That option is not available in the settings for me, and even when I force it in the *#*#4636#*#* menu, data still doesn't work. It's getting full bars and it says 4G on the top right, just no actual LTE functionality.
Just what you might be looking for...

I know that, but what I meant is that despite getting signal I was not getting any functional data (the arrows that should have been there were not).
But I ended up fixing the issue by finding the default T-Mobile ROM somewhere, and flashing it onto the G2 instead of the Claro ROM which obviously blocked T-Mobile bands... I now have my phone running CloudyG3 with LTE working perfectly fine, but thanks for everyone's help.
Hey everyone,
First of all I want to say that I am not very experienced with flashing. I have done it 2-3 times before on my other 2 phones, so I will not undestand everything you say but I'll try to do.
Yesterday I got a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 from a friend. As far as I know it is unlocked so I decided to put another ROM that doesn't have that much bloatware. I first tried LineageOS (the latest nightly build for SM_G900P), flashed TWRP before that with Odin, but then I noticed that I cannot connect to my carrier, so then I decided to flash this ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...ment/rom-g900ppca-6-0-1-stock-rooted-t3387717
I flashed the ROM from the recovery, then I flashed the bootloader and modem with Odin. After that success! The rom fired up after 15 minutes of loading and there it was. I was connected to a carrier and had mobile data and I went to bed. So today I noticed that I couldn't get LTE everywhere I go and I started browsing the forums, but I couldn't find anything that could help. The only thing I found was this https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059 , but all the download links were down.
So I decided to directly ask you guys and gals if you have a solution on how to get LTE signal on my phone.
Thank you in advance and sorry if I misspelled or said something incredibly stupid.
From what I know, the best connection you can get with an S5 in most countries in Europe is 3G. Sprint has the necessary band (2100 MHz) that connects to 3G in most countries in Europe. However, when it comes to LTE, the sprint S5 only has bands 25 (1900MHz), 26 (850MHz), and 41 (2500MHz). This is fine in the US for the Sprint Network, but European countries rely mainly on bands 3 (1800MHz), 7 (2600MHz), or 20 (800) for LTE, which are not found in the sprint variant.
I actually spent lots of time myself trying to unlock more bands using the link you posted, but I just couldn't do it. I couldn't access some menus that were necessary for the unlock during the process.
Also, from what I know, the carrier/data connection can only be acquired by using a stock rom such as the one you found. Custom roms like LineageOS will not connect to a carrier.
So every time i travel to Europe with my Sprint S5, i just put stock rom, and have to stick to 3G. So, that's the current situation with Sprint and LTE in Europe. I would be happy to hear any success stories.
I can confirm Band 3 1800 Mhz LTE works on Galaxy S5 900P Sprint on a network in Europe.
