I have couple questions about upgrading omega rom.
1. Should I do factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik when upgrading from 9 to 10?
2. Why should we flash modem seperate than rom ?
3. Which kernel will be included in omega 10?

Its up to you, you can try a "dirty" flash and not wipe and see how it goes, If there are problems then do a wipe.... If you don't want to set up your phone again then make sure you have a nandroid backup and stay on the older version.
Some people need a different modem because their reception is no good with the new modem or it causes battery drain. This would be the reason you would flash a new modem. Easier to leave a lone and see what happens, you can flash a modem.bin file later if needed through ODIN or, my preference, Mobile ODIN....
Read the changelog in the thread to see what kernel is included...
1. Should I do factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik when upgrading from 9 to 10?
You should full wipe when flashing a new rom, but wiping cache and dalvik cache will wokr fine too
2. Why should we flash modem seperate than rom ?
Because each modem works different from other in your region
3. Which kernel will be included in omega 10?
Modified kernel based on stock one
U don't need to do a factory reset specially upgrading from 9 to 10 cause both 9/10 are 4.2.2 based Roms and moreover they are from the same developer.... As for wipe/dalvic cache, the installer does it itself...
Simply go into recovery and flash the file... U should be good to go...
Good luck!

Lately I can read a lot of people stuck in Samsung N7000 screen when downgrading to stock gingerbread.. So here's the thing:
When you go back to gingerbread front any ICS version (stock or custom, aosp or tw) after flashing the Gingerbread rom via odin, you gotta go to stock recovery (vol up+home+power) and perform a wipe, after that your device will be able to boot into android...
Other tip its.. When you download a gingerbread rom from sammobile.com there's 2 kinds of roms, the Kies and the non kies roms..
Kies roms are those with the little Orange K(highlighted) next to the rom version in sammobile.com these roms are non wipe, wich means you gotta manually wipe following the process above..
Non kies roms will perform a full wipe after you flash it via odin so it will boot into android straight without going to recovery and wiping..
It's up to you.. But I always rather do mi wipes by myself just in case something goes wrong..
Edit: Read Dr. Ketan explanation for deeper detail here in this thread
Cheers

Yes after gb you should wipe for smoth reboot.
But your next tip regarding highlighted kies is your misunderstanding.
Highlighted version means that rom is right now available on kies.
While nonhighlighted kies symbol means that rom is no more available on kies.
Now this have 2 possibilities
Either it was previously available but presently new rom available, in that case it is still non wipe rom
Another possibilities is that rom never released on kies, and that case onky it was wipe version.
So conclusion :
If.rom is highlighted - it is sure non wipe
If non highlighted - it may b wipe or non wipe.
Non wipes rom are official rom by samsung only, but still those are test rom and never released by samsung on kies.
Usually wipe ron contains three separate files rahther thn single tar file
If you want to confirm.rom is.wipe or not, just extract.rom tar filr 1 level.deep, if data.img file there, that is sure wipe rom.

However maybe just pure coincidence but every time I have downloaded a non highlighted K Rom it does wipe xD

Ya but i give you some rom name
Ddkl3 ddlb2 ddlpa ddlp8 or any other indian rom other thn ddlr6 (currently available)will be non highlighted, in fact not a single indian rom is wipe ROM.
And check if any rom you are having that was wipe, you will fing data.img file inside tar.

Aite got it.. But wouldn't be dangerous to download a wipe ics rom? How could an average user identify a wipe ics Rom from sammobile in order to NOT flash that
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Stick to my stock rom.thread, i am not uploading wipe ics rom there, as it cud be dangerous to wipe on stock rom
Indeed only one lpf ics rom is wipe.

Hi,
I have stock rom 4.2.2 on my tilapia.
Few day ago I've made root access.
I'm testing some kernels. but now, I lost my 3G connection permanently.
There were a moment, when I had a connection (poor, but have sometimes) for example on M-kernel, or a44.
I've installed franco for testing now. but I've lost my 3G connection.
(I think it's not so important)
Main question:
I have stock 4.2.2 and kernel a38 by Mettalice. Can I flash only "tilapia-radio.img" from oryginal/stock rom in recovery ?
Yes you can flash only the kernel img. But wipe cache and dalvik cache after.

No, no.
I've already flashed anotker kernel with stock 4.2.2
but I've lost my 3g connection and now, I want to flash ONLY tilapia-radio.img from original rom.
Can I do it ?

Yes, you can use fastboot to flash it in thru the bootloader. My guess is simply the kernel or ROM you are on does not support the 3g version of the n7. I believe you even said you flashed a new kernel that killed your radio. Just a thought. You would have to actively try to delete your radio, which I doubt you did.

Good day guys/girls
I am brand new here as you can see in my total posts.
I am also new to android coming from crappy IOS.
I own a Galaxy S4 I9500, the device is rooted and has philz_touch_5.06.0-i9500 CWM on.
I want to install WanamLite rom and Adam kernel....but have no idea how to do this.
I am using this page for the downloads http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2268569
Which one should I run first, the rom or the kernel?
Baseband I9500XXUAMDE
Any pointers and directions would be appreciated greatly.
Adam kernel is included in This rom. Download Rom on sd Go to recovery wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, Wipe dalvik. Then install Zip. But First backup everything. And Make a nandroid backup
Thanks for the reply, is this the ROM GT-I9500_WanamLite.XXUBMF3.V1.4.NO-WIPE.zip ?
Yes that.

Hey guys, im currently on paranoid android and want to try the xenon hd rom, i read it's recommended to do a full wipe before installing a rom if your running a different rom. Is there any steps I have to do other than a reset, flashing the rom and the gapps, plus the wiping of the cache and the delvik cache?
Regards.

its always recommended to make a backup(nandroid) of your current rom before flashing anything, just in case. backup, wipe data, flash the rom, flash the gapps or kernel if needed, reboot and profit. you dont have to wipe the dalvik/cache because when you flash a rom it automatically wipes it anyways.
One little thing to add to what simms wrote, whether it's recommended or not in the corresponding thread, when you move from one rom to another a full wipe should be a golden rule.

Hey guys, I just had 2 quick questions.
1. I'm using TWRP and the first time I rooted and installed the Pardus rom, the factory reset worked perfectly. However, now if I try to factory reset and wipe cache it always fails. Any ideas on how to get past this?
2. This one is for users of the Pardus rom for the g2. I'm currently using the "reborn" build, I'd like to switch to the "classic" build. Would I have to wipe all my data in order to do that or would just wiping my cache and flashing the rom work fine?
Thanks in advance for any assistance and please pardon my noobiness with regard to the above
If the base of the roms are different make a full wipe.
