Hey bud, phone went into clockworkmod but failed to install. Don't care about losing root, what can I do to get the update?

Just got a Device Management update available message on my S4 this morning. Anyone have an idea of what it's for? I won't be installing anything until I know I won't lose root.
Are you on MDL or MF3? If MDL, it's probably the MF3 update and I'd use a custom rom. If MF3, then I have no clue

MDL.
Careful on Wi-Fi if it's downloaded because it will auto update if you reboot for any reason. Better freeze what needs frozen and delete the update. This came out a month ago.

Thanks!!!!!
I have my phone rooted so I can use the hotspot feature and I have no problems with it. When the OTA update came I expected it to kill root and I was prepared for that also. The problem is when the phone reboots and begins installing the update, it ends with an error. It doesn't say what the error is. I'm just wondering if the error might be root related or phone related. Anyone else seeing this problem?
Root related. There is a thread to how to update MJA with MF9 boot loader I HIGHLY recommend that of you truly want to update.

I think your issue is the hotspot mod add to why the update is failing. But I agree with above, I'd go the update route that gets you the update minus the Knox bootloader

My phone is working real good now, good battery life, no dropped calls, etc. I wonder if updating is really worth the effort? I'll have to see what advantages 4.3 will give me. Thanks for the tip on the above thread.
Yes, any modded files in the system partition(hot-spot mod) will cause the OTA to fail. Also, you must be on the stock recovery.

As long as you've got a custom recovery installed, you should be able to install a ROM. Just wipe system etc and install a new one. Ota updates only work on stock recovery as far as I know.

D80110g on mine after updating. I'm on tmobile.
I recently received an AT&T Galaxy S4 from one of my friends and it was already updated to KitKat 4.4. Well.. i was bored with touchwiz so i had to experiment.. I tried to downgrade to 4.3 and it worked, except I cant make or accept calls, and i cant play any audio/video file. I've tried using Odin to flash to the leak 4.4 firmware, and it didnt work, also i downloaded the OTA and it also didnt work. I messed up and didnt make any backups or NANDROID, so knowing how helpful is XDA is, ive brought my issue to you guy!! Sorry for bad grammer, im in a hurry to post this! Any help would be appreciated!

In currently running stock firmware but rooted. I'm in the 3 network in the UK. I checked the other night to see if an update was showing and nothing, and I've been checking periodically over the last few weeks.
Tonight I thought I would give it a go and I am currently downloading a 548.36mb update. Does anyone know what this is??

are you running the 4.4.2 update already?? cause if so it might be bug fixes
Nope. I'm running stock 4.2.2. I didn't think u would get it as I an rooted.
Went to install it and obviously that's where NY excitement became frustration. I've uninstalled Xposed and done what I can to unroot the device without a PC and an attempting again.
Is there a way to unroot the phone without a PC?

if you have a custom recovery than you need a pc or alot of looking around for the flashable zips of stock recovery but they have flashables of the 4.4.2 update that are pre-rooted so id say flash that when you can
This does not belong in the Development Section; moved here...Thanks.
