It says "The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions, then it goes on telling me to reboot only for it to show up again..
Now I unchecked the verify apps via USB but it still happens.. now from what I hear it's some kind of thing that needs to be deleted (apk) but I can't remember.. the name.. but when I tried deleting it in a program called file manger I was unable to delete the apk.

Get root explorer from the appstore. Its called KNOXagent.apk - supposedly a security feature that just messes with you when you flash custom ROMs. Delete it from the system apps folder.
I have had the same issue with EXfile explorer, but just switching to RootExplorer fixed the delete issue.

I was wondering if someone with all the stock apks could post them on a link for download. I'm unable to complete the Samsung update and I believe it's because I have some of the stock apks removed.

Here is a file with all the bloatware, but you need to use TiB in order to restore it...

Do I need the premium version? I can't figure out how to restore apps with .gz files.
No you don't, just copy ALL the files into the Titanium Backup folder, then launch TiB. If you scroll to the bottom, you should see all the apps with lines through them. click them, and then hit restore, easy as pie.

I feel like an idiot because this should be easy but I'm having issues. When I click the slashed out name of the app I want to install I don't have a restore option. I've tried running batch commands to do the install but that also doesn't work. I have BusyBox installed. Ideas?
Have you tried clicking the button that says "Problems?" yet?

So the directory SDX uses for restores is '/sdcard/sdx/backup/app/' but this directory doesn't exist. I've tried creating this directory and placing my .gz files in there with no luck. Any other ideas?
Google it, install the app, run it, navigate to /sdcard/sdx/backup and put all the bloat there, unmount your sd card, open the app again and find the restore option, check them all and hit restore, accept the superuser permissions, and your done. Then you can update with the update.zip I posted in the android development section for DL17.

I've completed all these steps. However, when SDX installs it doesn't create the backup directory. I've tried manually creating this directory, placing the bloat I want to restore in the directory, and searching for the bloat via SDX but nothing shows up.
I'm having the same problem with Titanium Backup. TiB shows the bloatware I want to reinstall but doesn't actually have an option to restore.
Its been forever since ive used it its probally a diffrent folder name...just delete the folder you made go into the app and vackup an app then the directory will br on the sdk card delete the apk in there and place the bloat there and restore.

Well I realized why I couldn't see the bloat I wanted to restore in SDX. It's because SDX backups files as an .apk. The bloat I have is .gz backed up from TiB. I don't have original .apk's for the bloat I deleted only the .gz's from TiB. I still can't understand why TiB won't allow me to restore the apps with .gz's. It shows them on the list but there is no restore option.
A question for you. I have been looking everywhere but could not find a solution.
I am using firewall to filter calls and messages. Also I am using app protector pro to protect applications like settings, installer etc. The risk is, any one accessing to your phone can easily remove the apps (i.e App protector pro or Firewall etc..) from the app drawer (app drawer > menu > edit then touch the app to remove). Only 3rd party apps can be removed this way and not the system apps.
If there is a way to treat the 3rd party apps as system app then this accidental/mischief removal of apps can be stopped.
Is there anyone help in this..
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys,
Any thoughts in this issue.
Please help.... this may help many of the forum users..
Hey smohanv,
This will be my first post in this forum because I think I now have the knowledge to help others
So here it goes!
I used SGS Tools to remove some of my system apps.
Open SGS Tools > Cleanup System Apps and you can select which ones to delete.
It didn't took all system apps btw, I still had a few meaningless apps which I couldn't delete.
For these apps I used Root explorer to delete them manually. Be carefull tho, don't delete stuff you don't know.
Good luck.
Alright I now see my first post on this forum is a complete fail
You meant something else, treat the 3rd party apps as system apps so they won't get deleted.
Good question on which I don't know the answer yet but I did give you a bump hehe
Someone else has any suggestions?
Hi
Thanks for the response. The question is not about removing system app. The question is, how to prevent apps getting uninstalled by anyone seeing your phone. From the OS Froyo onwards, any app can be (except system app) removed just by invoking menu > remove by touching the icon.
If you have root you can copy the .apk of the app to /system/app.

Yes, as xxbeanxx said, if you have root, you can move the apps you want to protect into your /systems/ directory through ADB or through the Terminal app and that way it will not be available through the TouchWiz drawer delete option.

Thanks for the workaround. I have rooted phone. Can the apk file be moved to system/app folder using root explorer.
Thanks again. If it works through file explorer than using adb or terminal app many forum users can benefit.

Hi,
Go to the market and get "FX File Explorer" + root
Navigate to system/app
Unlock the padlock at the top of the page.
Paste the Gallery app into the folder.
Save.

hey just root your phone with cf root download rootbrowser and replace the downloaded version with the one in system/app

Hi guys!
I'm bumping an ancient thread here, hope that's okay with you.
I have this old S4+ lying around. I love it's Gallery app due to the built-in possibility to losslessly trim MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) videos by cutting to nearest keyframe, and also lossless rotation by changing the rotation metadata flag of the MP4 file in question. This simple feature is not implemented in "modern" Gallery apps, or well at least not in the OnePlus 5T I'm using today. So, I was thinking I could extract the .APK from my S4+ (running Android 5.x) and put it in my OP5T (running Android 8.x) without too much headache. Guess if I was wrong.
I get the error about that app was not installed. After browsing around on e.g. ApkMirror, I ultimately found a Samsung Galaxy derived Gallery .APK that I could install, it was a very early version (v1.x.something) which has the cutting feature, but not the rotation (flag changing) feature. So, this ancient Gallery3D .apk installed well, but not the one on my own Galaxy S4+.
So, what could be my issue? Is the .APK flagged to be installed as a system app, and due to my OP5T not being rooted I don't have access too /system/app/, therefor the error? Could it be that simple? If so, is it possible the modify the .APK to install as in /data/app/ instead? Of course I'd resign the APK with some dummy/androiddebug signature afterwards to make installation possible.
Could it be some silly (not really needed) demand listed in the AndroidManifest.xml of the APK in question? If so, is it possible to replace the AndroidManifest.xml with a very "basic" one listing more or less no demands, and re-wrap everything with new signature?
I'm really investigating all my options __except__ for having to root my OnePlus!
I figured that I could get a more specific error message from ADB than by just trying to install the .APK through the phone interface.
So, here goes..
Code:
C:\>adb.exe install F:\Galleri_com.sec.android.gallery3d.apk
adb: failed to install F:\Galleri_com.sec.android.gallery3d.apk: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK: Package couldn't be installed in /data/app/com.sec.android.gallery3d-RAEW5FZ4VBWqTWXx48LPmQ==: Package /data/app/com.sec.android.gallery3d-RAEW5FZ4VBWqTWXx48LPmQ==/base.apk code is missing]
What does this tell me?

The Galaxy S4 and most Samsung devices has a second framework app, twframework-res.apk, that only works with their apps. Here's the fun part: the existing Android framework-res.apk is modified by Samsung so both framework apps are required by a given Samsung app to function. Even better is that you cannot simply port the app and twframework-res.apk to a totally different device and expect it to function. You'd have to port the framework-res.apk as well, and with that apk being a system file, you'd soft brick your device after copying it and rebooting.
The tl;dr here? What you're attempting won't work due to Samsung modifications to Android.
I've rooted my defy+ (2.3.6) using Framaroot, mainly to lose the pre installed bloatware, but now i notice I can only see my pre installed ringtones (.ogg)
Even if I move my .mp3 custom ringtones/notification into the system media folder, the picker doesn't see them.
Settings>Sound> Phone ringtone: shows me a dialog with 'complete action using Android System or ES File Explorer' it doesn't matter which I use, only the pre installed sounds will work
It would seem I've broken/lost some file that lets android recognise .mp3 files in any location for using as ringtones or notifications, anyone have any ideas?

Place mp3 ringtones in sdcard/ringtones. System media folder needs ogg files.

Yes that's already been done with no effect. My non system sounds are not showing up, any other suggestions.
Oh if I use a media app and do 'set as ringtone or notification etc' then it tries then says 'operation failed'

It sounds like if you were not root.
Try to root with another method and try again..
I recently installed com.sonyericsson.album_5.4.A.0.22.apk, but like a noob I didn't read the description before hand and the apk file is actually only for Xperia Z2 System/Media/App ] Apks and Odex and Jar files for Z1
The apk installed as normal, however I can't find the application in my app drawer and using root explorer the album apk is not showing in system/app system/private app or any other location.
The problem is that I am not able to install the correct version as the wrong apk has to be removed somehow first, when I try to restore the version that used to work from titanium backup - it just hangs at restoring and never restores successfully. Trying to restore the apk directly from a file manager results in a "not installed" message - I think this is because the wrong apk is still hidden somewhere in my device.
Any suggestions guys? any suggestions will be highly appreciated :good:

Thanks for the suggestion, but its not there either - strange.
Then how do you know, that it isn't gone yet?
The system wont allow me to install it again or any other com.sonyericsson.album.apk file, I'll keep checking system directories one by one until I find it.
