Is anyone else having the browser crashing while browsing. Nothing repeatable but from time to time it crashes and just dumps you back to the desktop, no warning or error message.
That has not happened to me, but I have noticed that at times, the browser is just super slow. Pages won't load, etc. It's not my connection, YouTue loads fine, and so does Doplhin Browser.
This has been happening to me as well, not only the browser though other apps as well. I would go as far as to say every app I have used has crashed on me a minimum of twice yes EVERY app I have used. I just received my gt10.1 today so it might just be stretching pains.

I have the same issue. Like you said, nothing repeatable, almost kind of random, but it closes down completely... this has also happened in other apps, in addition to multiple force closes in apps.
Yep..I noticed it FC's on me mostly when I'm forums..never other sites.
On my 10.1v the browser is crashing at every start so i cant use the stock browser. Other apps crashing to. Yesterday the gfx at my live wallpaper was overwritten by an other programm or task. I think there are a lot of bugs in honeycomb but this can also be an hardware problem. Anyone here without problems/crashes on 3.0?

Yep. mine crashed three times trying to view one particular website. I finally gave up.
Some apps crashing too, and the Yahoo mail app is LAME. My phone does a better job than the 10.1 displaying Yahoo mail. Tab forces you to open any email containing HTML in the browser. LAME.
I see what people mean when they say Honeycomb is not ready for prime time.

using my 10.1v for about a month now, i've never had such serious problems. just 3 or 4 fc, different apps, not repeatable.
go into setting, applications and clear the data from your stock browser. then you might be able to use it again.

Thanks, clearing the browsers data and cache works fine...
me too
I have the same issue. Glad to see its not just me. It just dumps and goes to the desktop. I just got this today and not too excited about the browser failing right out of the bo
Stock browser crashes on me too. It will randomly freeze when accessing web pages and then home and back button does not work. I have to hit them multiple times before it goes back home and sometimes the only way to fix it is by rebooting the device.
Anyone had the same freezing experience?

I've had this happen a few times. Try force stopping the app and clearing data like mentioned in a previous post. I had this happen in the YouTube app as well while trying to search for a video. It wouldn't return any results and crash until I force stopped the app in settings. Once I did that I was able to re open the YouTube app and find the video with no problem.

My brower crashes often when browsing forums.clubsi.com
It seems some sites make the browser crash
Im having the same issues. I was using dolphin browser HD and the stock browser. This error seems to occur in both.. for me it seems like it was more video/flash sites.
Yes, stock browser crashes, but crashes less than 3rd party browsers which is why I've stuck with it so far.
I too am having this problem. As far as I can tell it has happened mostly if not always on forum sits for me as well. I am subscribing to this thread hoping someone will figure out what is happening and help us fix it.
Oh, I just tried force stopping the browser and clearing data. Within five minutes it crashed again.
me too... once crashed, i reboot device. i find that whenever i change the viewing mode from mobile to desktop while browsing gmail, my browser crashes. and of coz some other sites too
anyone?
Yup, mine crashes on sites that have a lot of newer HTML5 ads or complex javascript. I have flash turned to OnDemand so it shouldn't be causing any browser FC's. I also see crashes on sites that have a lot of images on them which has led me to thing it's crashing due to memory issues.
yeah me to. crashes on certain websites. techradar is one it allways crashes on. im pretty disgusted that they`ve let this bug make it to the retail version, this and the high pitch noise issue really get my back up!!
sort it out samsung ffs
Same here. One way that is repeatable on my end is when following a link to track a UPS shipment. I try to open the link from my email to the lenovo site, and it never makes it - drops to desktop every time. However, I've also had random crashes while trying to load flash, simply browsing, etc.
HC definitely needs some more spit and polish, but so far I'm liking it. Also, the Opera Mobile Browser, atm, is the best one that I've tried, among stock, Miren, and Dolphin HD. However, they all have occasional crashes.
I've had nothing but horrible experiences with chrome on droid (lag everywhere including just simply bringing up bookmarks, sucking power/background data), was wondering if anyone with the new N7 + 4.3 could comment on its performance in its newest incarnation
For me occasional freezes and lock ups on this site.

I want to know the experiences with Chrome in this Nexus 7-2013. I the chrome is always slowest that all other browser, also the native Android browser is better.
It’s is a bad port of the desktop version. Its improvement every version, but it’s not yet ready to production.
Bugs:
The all refresh web pages, start page, the slow Omnibar, slow loading web pages.
On initial page loads after reboot it is reasonably fast.
My problems with it are
1) eventually using it relates to my tablet rebooting
2) page loading slows down over time
3) tabs get hung over time
4) when tabs hang it pegs my broadband at 100% utilization
Because of these reason I just stopped using it and happily my random reboots went away. I can start using it again and my random reboots will return within a day. So high correlation, but I cannot point to causation. The core reboot problem is in the Android OS, but Chrome seems to be the most apt and triggering the problem (for my usage patterns)
It's certainly not as fast as I'd like it to be. As has already been said, it's pretty quick on a fresh boot, and as long as you don't have too many tabs open it seems to do pretty well overall (better than the original Nexus 7 at least). I've never had it cause a random reboot, but I have had Chrome crash on me once. Happier with it than I was, but hopefully they get it working better soon...
To clarify, the "random" reboot for me isn't always in Chrome (or it wouldn't be random). It is sometimes in Chrome, but usually somewhere else, commonly just the tablet sitting there idling. It always happens sometime after Chrome tabs start getting jumpy or hang. It never happens before then. After I stopped using Chrome, the reboots went away completely. Before I used to use Chrome, Maps, and play videos. Now I use Opera Mini, Maps, and play videos.
For *my usage* there is a high correlation with using Chrome, but I cannot point to causation.
It feels like the core problem is in the Android OS, so I'm sure there are other apps that can trigger the random reboot, but for my usage pattern Chrome is the one that shows very high correlation.
It is even possible the core problem is in the networking layer or wireless network driver as when Chrome started getting jumpy, I noticed my other network apps would get jumpy. When I stopped using Chrome, all the other network apps I thought I was having issues with seem to be running without any jumpiness anymore (this points to a core Android problem being triggered, since it affected multiple apps)
It will definitely need an update down the road. I feel it get laggy then not being as quick after awhile, and it isn't crazy about this site.
(although to be fair this site seems to have issues with all different browsers lately, even my desktop Chrome and Firefox)
I've been using Firefox, and trying Boat Browser in the meanwhile.
The problem may be with Chrome itself. I'm no Apple fan but I received a new iPad 3rd Generation last December and was using it for bedtime surfing. Safari just sucked so I installed Chrome which was infinitely better. But after the updates in the months following it really became unbearable to use. I ordered my Nexus 7 on July 26 after a seriously horrendous attempt to type a five line reply to a post on this site (which I blame on the fundamentally flawed iOS operating system and its inability to deal properly with form input fields). I've been using Chrome on my N7 for a few days now and though the experience is much improved I find there's a problem with Chrome itself on the tablet. The most annoying issue is how it will freeze up; when that happens you can navigate away from the browser and do anything else but when you return to it maybe five minutes later it is still locked up. This freeze may affect a single tab or all browser sessions (I usually have multiple windows open).

Yeah, it is a pain. I had to use the recently used button to swipe away Chrome all the time and then usually it started working again. Sometimes I had to force close it.
However you lose your context so it got quite annoying. I just stopped using Chrome.
Yeah same here its awful. Flash the AOSP browser or get an AOSP ROM.

I found using recent apps to swipe away the app frequently did no good. When the browser reopened the same tabs would be opened and the pages still frozen. I've spent the last half hour trying to find a decent browser and they all have something I don't like. The old stock browser like on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was so much better.
What browser are you using now?

I'm using opera mini because I got used to it on questionable phone data connections.
Instead of swiping away, tap and hold the app, choose app info, then force close. That always works to get chrome unhung and working but you do lose your tabs.

Same, but only on the XDA Forums.
I can confirm with latest OTA and everything on my new Nexus 7 that Chrome is the culprit for reboots. It is also still a very laggy browser compared to others (especially compared to the AOSP browser). You can really tell when browsing, scrolling, panning, zooming around on Desktop web pages where Chrome will chug and the AOSP browser will do it all smoothly.
With that said, I rooted the device, and flashed the AOSP browser, and stopped using Chrome. No more lag, random reboots, just very smooth and crisp web browsing.

Hi I'm using a stock Nexus 4. Recently I've encountered this issue where Chrome would keep opening a new tab every half an hour. Chrome just launches by itself and overrides any app I'm working on. Say I'm playing a game and it would just launch on it's own.
The site it opens remains the same which is: droidsearchapp.info/antivirus/index1.php
It appears to be some anti-virus scan kind of website.
I understand this must have come through some app I have installed but I can't figure out which app because around the time it started, I hadn't installed anything atleast a day before. I've cleared Chrome Cache and Chrome data, even installed Ad Network apps to identify the app which sent this malware in the phone but can't seem to find the culprit.
Any help on this? Any way I can stop Chrome from force opening a new tab?
I can't factory reset the phone, there's a lot of data here and there that I fear losing.
Bump! Anything?
Use opera browser instead
Just a joke. This redirecting and app override issue makes it look very mutch like your device is infected with malware. It's infected with something unfresh certainly.
To me it looks very similar to a Windows infection.

I created an app 2 years ago and that was a challenge in itself but its only a select few that get to see it as its more a local specialised app more than anything.
I have been told by someone that the app installs onto their device fine but when you open/start it, it closes down saying it cannot open.
I have tested it myself and getting the same error.
Can anyone tell whats causing it and maybe fix it as I just cannot figure out why its closing down as soon as its open.

You should try to install the app with android Studio (or eclipse) via adb so you can have a logcat of what happens on your app
This is pretty much my only real problem on my Nexus 4. My phone just doesn't like the Google Maps app. Every time I start it up, it crashes within three seconds. I noticed that this problem began appearing since I switched to ART when I was on Kitkat 4.4.4. On Dalvik the app runs fine. Somehow waters also look very distorted on my phone no matter what the runtime or Android version it's running. In the logcat it's printing stuff about some libraries (libGLESv2_adreno.so and libandroid_runtime.so).
Has anyone experienced this before and know a fix to this problem? Thanks in advance.

Same problem. Started with latest maps update. Still happening with a fresh install of a new rom.
Beat guess is low system memory as lollipop takes more space.
