PA colors problem. - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Don't know where to post issue, so I did it here. I have updated paranoid android on both N7 and N4. And on N7 it works as charm, but on N4 I can't make PA colors working. I realy like them on my N7. Tried to reinstall PA, factory reset, but still cant make them work. Please help.

Could be a kernel problem (gamma settings missing), different screen types, or different gamma systems

I am on franco kernel.

[SOLVED] Nexus 4 screen is too dark.

Right after fresh installing Paranoidandroid 3.5, I noticed that the colors on my Nexus 4 are too dark.
Any ideias on why and how to fix it?
There are several kernels that have the capability of changing the colors. That will help slightly. Auto brightness is pretty dim on this phone. You might try going to manual.
I had the same issue with auto brightness being too dim, so I used manual until AOKP implemented custom auto brightness settings.

That's thing, my problem is not the brightness it's the colors itself they over satured but with darker shadows / higher contrast.
I found this post, maybe it will help. (I still can't upload outside links so) :silly:

Just solved my problem
I remembered to look around the Nexus Root Toolkit by WugFresh, where I found "Restore Stock Kernel".
Now if I want to change my kernel due to performance tweeks, I have to make sure I check if they also it also changes the colors.

Try re-installing the recovery, either CWM or TWRP via fastboot. If you can boot into Android, download GooManager and install TWRP from there.

[Q] Push Notification solutions?

Okay!
Could I just get some sort of final solution, not only me, but the many others on xda that are suffering from the same problem as me. Why am I not getting notifications!? I've tried almost every kernel on here, from Franco to Air kernel and no luck! I've tried using the PNF app, no luck there! Is there just one solution!?
I restored a nandroid from when I fresh rooted my nexus. Is this a kernel issue or a ROM issue ?

This is an issue Google needs to fix in the upcoming android release. I believe someone in the android development forum section is trying to fix it so you could try to find and visit the thread if you need more info or can provide help...

It may work for you, just make sure and be careful to choose which one. I myself haven't tried any of them (keeping stock for sometime)
I've been using a +motley kernel found on his thread that someone modified with newer prima drivers. It has worked fine for me for months now.

ROM PA question

I do not know is my PA rom working properly. Superuser is granted kaychain is first thing i do not get. Second, I can't use PA child preset thing, on my N4, on N7 works great. And last thing, goomanager is saying there's an update for my rom but there is none, cause i checked on goomanager and from web directly. Is this any to be concerned, and is there way to see is my room working good? And how to reset it all and download rom, gapps and stuff all again? When i factory reset once my tablet mide from PA stayed, even though I still haven't installed it yet...
Please help.

[HELP] Building Paranoid Android 3.90 on Grouper

So, I was building my own personal PA 3.90. When I flashed the .zip, I booted up normally, until the bootlogo screen. Instead of the Shark or whatever it is in 3.90, I just got a black screen. I got no errors while building (or else I wouldn't be able to flash it) but this keeps on happening. I even rebuilt, but to no avail.
Help appreciated!

I guess such questions are worth posting in the Dev thread and are serious questions . I'm surprised this happens even with our device. There might be a possibility of you downloading the wrong branch but n7 won't use the legacy branch I think.
Are you using a prebuilt kernel ? Or compiling your own ? Seems like display is derped to me. Display drivers may be an issue.
@aaronpoweruser any help ?

You don't have the proprietary binaries. I'm doing an official 3.9 build now

[Issue][Miracast][CM11] Screen Mirroring broken or not working

I would like to find out if anyone else has been having problems getting the miracast casting to work on CyanogenMOD 11 (i.e. any official CM11 build for Nexus 4).
I would like to report that though mirroring works perfectly on the Kitkat Stock (even after you do a basic root), , when I do a clean flash of CM11 (including wiping all data), and try to cast, the phone seems to reset the established connection almost as soon as it is established; and then the access-point / SSID of the miracast device momentarily disappears from the list [ i.e. the list under Setting > Display (& Lighting) > Casting ].
By the way, I am using the Nexus 4 with Rocketfish's Miracast device (see here). Haven't tested this issue on any other phone/miracast-model combination. However, I did test all of the above on one other nexus 4 device and experienced the same issues.
I thought I'd post this issue up here to possibly expose it to someone (who knows someone... ) on the CM dev team, because I'm not sure what the channels of communication are to let them know directly (e.g. I believe we are not allowed to post issues for CM11 nightlies).
Thanks a Tonne in Advance!!
I also have the same problems with CM11 official on my Nexus 4 and my LG Smart TV 39LN575S: Miracast try to connect but not works.
I tried with Kitkat stock and it works.
Anyone can help us?
Thanks
Does not work on any custom ROM kk, unfortunately, must be some bug in Google because no developer could solve.

have they been able to at least narrow down what part of the ROM customization process breaks it?
E.g. deodexing, busybox some intefering apps/services
Also, is Miracast working fine on custom pre-Android4.4 roms such as CM10.. Each time I try to flash to CM10.x ("stable") to test this (even after a complete data wipe), It breaks my wifi [which I obviously need for miracast]?

Over other versions of android, works 100% on all custom. The problem you're having with wifi is broken because of the baseband, you should is with a baseband kk, and they do not work in the previous version, change to 0.84, for example, that wifi will function normally.

great that's very helpful!
Hopefully google is working to resolve this issue.
Seems to me that overall, not alot of attention is paid to miracast technology ever since it's integration onto the android platform.
I have basaband .98 and with last CM11 nightly Miracast don't works, instead with the same baseband and KK 4.4.2 stock it works.
I like much CM but I don't want lose a feature of my Nexus 4

I think what he means is changing the baseband only works on custom roms such as CM10, which are prior to android 4.4

pull "libDxHdcp.so" from KOT49H factory image, push "libDxHdcp.so" to CM11, but didn't solved this.
so I developed add a few Miracast options for AOSP including HDCP skipping, this morining build for CM11, tilapia and mako Miracast working on CM11.

flash cm-11-20140108-NIGHTLY-mako.zip & 20140110_mira02_CM11_tilapia-update-signed.zip,
lauch Mira4U app, check Skip HDCP, goto Cast screen, *maybe* working :cyclops:
if Miracast worked on N4 after applied this patch, Netflix or other HDCP required contents maybe black screen.

I was unable to get this to work.
I got force closes and then when i wiped data. The rom worked but it's miracast still didn't work. Was there something I was supposed to do in addition, in order to get it all working??
Would you mind explaining the steps you took to get it to work on Nexus 4, since there's just too much information at the provided link that doesn't necessarily relate to nexus 4.

required
1) Nexus 4 CM11
2) 20140110_mira02_CM11_tilapia-update-signed.zip - applied to N4 using custom recovery
3) launch Mira4U app, check Skip HDCP
after this, standard way how to use miracast,
4) Settings -> Display -> Cast screen

Would this work on HTC One [m7]? I am also getting the same exact black screen issues when trying to cast netflix.
This wifi display helper pro did not work. I couldn't check either box to apply the patch.
