Help (again!) RLOD & can't seem to sort it : ( - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. Yet again my n4 has wet itself, big time.
Thanks to Simms I got it going the last time by shutting down phone, waiting for charging graphic, then all was good.
This time, I can't turn on the phone for any length of time enough to turn off properly.
It reboots, google logo comes up, then phone shuts down again.
If I try and boot into recovery, same thing happens. Robot image appears for recovery mode, then before I can do anything it shuts down again, briefly shows charge animation then goes back to flashing red dot.
I left it plugged into mains charger for 6 hours, no change.
Is it dead????
Right. By getting into recovery mode and really quickly managing to shutdown, it showed charging animation, then it disappeared and red dot has stopped.
Tried to turn on again and briefly showed battery icon and start red dot flashing again : (

leave it on the charger for a while, then try again. i mean leave it on the charger for an hour or two before you try again.

Thanks Simms. I left it on for 6 hours last night but still flashing red.
Now I can't manage to get to shut down in time before it powers off.
What worries me is that last time I had RLOD, I could still navigate around the phone while it was plugged into power..

your phone probably thinks it has less then 0% battery. keep trying to get it into the bootloader so that you can power it off. try like 3-4 times in a row, then let it sit plugged in for some time and try again. you can always try the disconnect the battery then reconnect the battery method to fix rlod.

Dare I say, it may be ok. This time it started, google logo came up. Waited for it to shut off but it continued to fully start.
Went to shutdown in power menu, phone switched off. Charging animation came on.
Sorted!!!!!
Simms thanks for your help bro.
I'll let you sleep, then ask somewhere Q's about RLOD later mate
Cheers

Won't Boot

So my phone died earlier today and I left my charger in my friend's car. When I got it back, I tried to plug it in and turn it on, but nothing happened. I know sometimes you have to wait until it has a certain % charge before you can turn it on. I made and hour trip back home and when I got back I still couldn't get my phone to turn on.
When it's not plugged in nothing happens at all. When it is plugged it it repeats the boot logo thing over and over and over and eventually goes black. I can't get to any kind of menu. I've tried the X+Power option. Nothing.
Any help?

You might try and swap batteries with someone with a D2 or D1 to see if your battery is messed up other than that I'm not sure what to do because it sounds like you don't have enough power but if it's not charging you could have a software issue, because the D2 won't charge without software.
Does your white charging light on the side turn on when it's plugged in?
Are you running a Custom ROM?

Nexus 4 won't boot back up

Today, when my nexus 4 reached 0% it shutdown like how it usually does but the odd thing is when i plugged it back into the charger and tried to turned it back on, it didnt respond at all... No battery icon, no vibration, no led notification, NOTHING.
Is my phone dead? Is there any way to turn it back on?
I tried numerous amounts of button combinations.. volume up+power, volume down+power, all the buttons, nothing!
Nexus 4 was rooted, unlocked bootloader
running LiquidSmooth Official build 2.1, Matrix 8.5 kernel
Any help would be appreciated!

It happens when you let the phone hit 0%. It doesn't happen to me but it does to some folks.
Try to just leave the usb cable plugged it for an hour or so and see what happens. If it powers on, just remember don't let it hit 0%. I assume you were trying to calibrate the battery. If you were then that's not necessary.
Good luck!

N7 won't turn on. I get some faint "snow" when trying to charge

My 14th month old N7 (out of warranty ) has run into some issues. I left it alone for a few days and the battery ran out. Nothing completely out of the usual, happens from time to time. I picked it up, plugged it into the Asus charger, white battery logo came up, i then turned it on.. Google logo. I then set it down.
Came back to it about an hour later and it was off. I tried turning it on while still plugged in, notthing. I unplugged and tried turning it on, nothing. I try my HTC One charger, nothing. Tried plugging it into a USB port on one of my computers, nothing. I read the sticky thread and tried all of the recommended items. Re-seated my battery connector, nothing. I realized that when i tried turning it on, i'd get a faint flicker / 'snow' like affect, like the screen was trying to turn on, but something was wrong. I tried holding the power button for over a minute, nothing. Tried vol down+power for 60 seconds, nothing.
I would search, but im getting a message that it's down.
Any thoughts?
I'm running Slim Rom (4.3) + M Kernel. I hadn't flashed or done anything out of the ordinary in weeks.

happened on mine the other day its a low battery problem, let it charge for 30mins or so, hold power down for like 30 seconds, let go and repress power button, should boot as norm.
seems if the batt completly runs down it sorta needs a jump start from charger to get goin again
I've tried this multiple times. I was thinking along the same lines. I'll keep trying this. But so far no dice. Thanks for the reply.

ok try holding the power button down for a while , does the screen light up? if yes wait and when it turns off again try rebooting as from fresh.
if no re-try and re-try again if no luck. im at a loss, other then trying with / without charger plugged.
edit: on that thought , charge 30 mins hold power button screen lights up no detail/image, hold power ,screen goes off, charge from charger should progress ( press power momentarily and see battery charging icon, screen goes off. wait another 30mins, boot as norm.

When i hold the power button (i mention i hold it for 60 seconds at least, i literally timed it). i get flickering snow, nothing visible. but the screen turns on and i see some faint snow.
The rest of what you wrote i've tried numerous times in different configurations. charging for 30 mins, not charging, plugged in, not plugged, etc. so far i have not seen any icons or anything. The only sign of life is the flickering screen with faint snow.

It's a long shot but still: try leaving it alone for couple of days (3 for example), completely alone, don't touch it, after few days, plug it in and leave it alone, after an hour or two try turning it on.
I've had such experience with some old iPod, it died, but came back to life a month later when I tried to play with it again.
We have a sticky for this, at the top of the Troubleshooting page.

my device has just quit workin all together

my att g2 4.2 rooted stock rom worked normally last night, this morning I plugged it into the car charger and it displayed it was charging with 2% charge present. I pressed the power button the boot animation began I set it down and when I picked it back up a few minutes later to use it...well nothing...the charging indicator led wasn't lit and when I pressed the power button LG appeared for only a split second then went black. when I plug it in same thing, LG logo for a brief second then disappears. I haven't done anything recently except xposed modules, no flashing of anything. any ideas? thank you guys
It happened to me (on other devices) when I let them discharged too far. Just allow it to charge awhile then try to hold the power button
for 10-20secs ... The NookHD+ were the worst in this situation (it won't charge sometimes, I had to plug/unplug a few times to initiate a charge, I was almost about to RMA one of them).
something else that's odd
when I plugged my device into my laptop the laptop acted like I just plugged in 12 different things that all needed to have their disk formatted. what is going on? wierd

try charging the device in offline mode ( turn it off and let it charrge for a while) and then turn it on . mind wouldnt turn on because of very low charge yesterday. doing this helped
update
I let it charge for several hours, nothing...it appears to be in some kind of boot loop. I can't turn it off all the way, I hold the powwer button for tensec or so and the LG will appear for a second then disapear and then the back light stays on. oh ya, when I plugged it in a few hours ago it wouldn't turn on but the red LED was flashing. I'm not sure how long it stayed on, but it was off when i got back to it several hours later. thank you for your time fellas!
If you can get to recovery at all, leaving it on charge in there. Has saved me in a similar situation.

Could have been the power switch that makes the phone short circuit and goes off anytime.

Thank you sirs, unfortunately still no good
it sounds like you had the same thing as everyone else yesterday that had twrp installed and the carrier automatically updated the system.
I could not get my phone recognized by the laptop and had to use pdanet drivers, which finally worked, but I still had to dig for the device. then had to flash back to stock. There is a pretty good thread on this topic, already. Search for it in the developer section. Do not skip any steps, such as setting the date back to jan2012 and turning off the internet. go slow and methodically, or you will miss a step and get frustrated.

Is my phone a bricked lost cause?

I was running a standard OS, no root/custom/anything (mostly because I couldn't find a compatible hack). Anyway, I had my phone running happily for ~2+ years, no trouble at all, but few days ago I left it charging for 2-3 days (it powered down due to lower power before that). I've done it before several times, but when I tried turning it on, it was stuck on Samsung logo (white on black). I restarted, it was stuck a bit further on the colored startup animation. Third time, stuck on the logo again. I turned it off, but it was a bit warm after 10 or so minutes. I tried charging it - it showed the usual green battery charging from 80% or so. I took the battery out, pressed the power button for a minute for some hard reset, but the battery back in, and from that point on it seems I have a brick. No reaction to power button, no reaction to charging. Power+Home+VolUp produce no reaction, either.
Is there anything I can try, or should I just give up?
Factory reset ??
Flash stock rom via Odin ??

The only answer I can think of is that your battery is dead. I would try to use another battery before getting to the conclusion that your phone is completely bricked. Or just let the battery out of your phone for a couple of days and try again later.

Must have fried something. The only thing I would check now is to connect it to a PC with a USB cable and see if the PC detects something, ANYTHING. If it makes sounds that something has been connected to it. I remember when I hard bricked my phone, it did not turn on at all but my PC still sort of detected it. I guess that is the only thing left to try to give you a definite answer
