For any reason my Defy+ with CM7.2 on it, stopped working. Due to this I tried to flash the firmware again, but there has had to be some mistake in it.
Now I don't have any firmware on it anymore and can only access the stock recovery menu. I really don't know how to flash a firmware on it again, because I can't access any settings with a ROM. So my question is: How to flash a Defy+ with no firmware on it and no access to a custom recovery menu?

All,
I hope this will be a quick fix.
I'm running an ICS ROM. Surface - and its beautiful!
I had a corrupt update though which semi-bricked the phone. I'm back up and running now with ICS but had to take the phone back to stock gingerbread via download mode and heimdall, re-root with cfroot and then update from CWM.
I can get download mode with Vol-/home at boot and can get into clockwork mod recovery by rebooting from CWM manager but I can't get there from cold with Vol+/home. I could get it with the cfroot kernel.
My guess is that I've flashed an SBL which had removed the feature - can anyone recommend an SBL I can flash seamlessly to give me the capability back without being to downgrade from ICS again? Does anyone have a better idea what the problem might be caused by?

Flash JVR or JVS.
Thanks for the reply.
Would it be safe to just flash the primary and secondary bootloaders from jvs over my existing ICS install or is that asking for trouble?

Hey
I wanted to install a new rom on my defy+ so i booted to clockwork and did it. but it failed and now i cant access Clockworkmod only a silly stock recovery which cant install my rom. I used to just reboot into recovery, but i cant do that now since there is no rom on the phone. Can you guys please help me to get to custom recovery/clockworkmod.
Please help me, i dont know what to do and my phone dosent work now! :-(
You will have to go back to stock. That's the **** with the locked bootloader. Do all steps again to instal it again. Probably on wrong kernel.

Well u must have heard about how to get STOCK rom...
well i have flashed more than 10 roms never find any problem yet
now what u shud do is go back to your STOCK Rom the one which motorola gave inbuilt in ur defy +
using RSD software
And your .sbf file
.sbf is rom file
just go to RSD lite then open .sbf file
Put your MOTO into bootloader and flash
Do not remove your Mobile unless progress is done 100%
if u r still confused please read guides provided by experts
where can i find the SBF that fits to my phone? and also so it can be rooted again.

Alright I have searched all day and can not seem to find a resolution to my problem. It is my fault I shouldn't fix something that isn't broke but it has resulted in issues and I would appreciate it if someone could help me.
I had twrp 2.5.0.2 installed running GE 4.2.2 ROM with MF3 radios installed and GE kernel v11. I saw twrp had a update to 2.6.0.0 and I decided to install it via goo manager it booted up in recovery with the "the software is unauthorized by att" screen and I can do volume down + power after that to reboot phone and not have issues as far as getting my phone booted and working on all the above. But the problem I am having now I have lost custom recovery. I have tried goo manger again as well as some on click root/recovery methods from these forums and all result in the same back to the unauthorized screen mentioned above its like it won't boot into a custom recovery. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Maybe try ROM manager and install cwm .it will pop up in ROM manager as the T-Mobile s4 but that's what I used to install the first recovery image, then I used that recovery to flash the auto Loki recovery.I have used the same plain auto Loki recovery since then.

Just tried that as well. Still not working. When I takes me to that unauthorized page top left it says "secure fail: kernel". But when I reboot the phone normal it comes up just fine....so that tells me its getting past with Loki to boot up my ROM and kernel but for some reason it will not take a custom recovery anymore when I have had one installed previously.

If memory serves me right the Google Edition ROM will make TWRP / GooMananger think you have a 9505(G) and thus it will install that version. So you installed a non-loki'd recovery.
Use Odin, go back to AMDL firmware. (Take SIM out before doing so so it wont download the AMF3 update). Redo Root + Recovery. BEFORE you flash another rom, install GooManager and then update from there. You will be running stock firmware so it will identify the model correctly. Then flash your custom ROM.
Forgive me for being noob when it comes to Odin. But does this OTA the software or will I need to get Odin on my desktop?

I tried flashing to the latest version of stock rom and found it had the new Samsung policy updates in place preventing me from rooting and using superuser things properly, so I went to do a full restore back (using clockworkmod).
Now my phone takes about 3 minutes to pass the logo screen before booting up to the home screen and my wifi won't switch on either... Anyone have any ideas why this may be?
I'm currently downloading an older stock firmware to flash using odin and then using titanium to restore all my apps and settings.
Is there a way I can have the latest stock firmware without the new policy updates?
Hi, you need to reinstall the stock up to date version via Odin. It may take two attempts. Your boot loader is locked. Once you have done this, flash a recovery via odin then you can root and flash a recovery. It happened to me. Any questions let me know.

So I need to install the latest stock rom (even though it's got the new Samsung policy updates thing on?), to lock the boot loader, then root and flash CWM via Odin and then use CWM to restore a full backup?
I tried that and it doesn't work... and now when I flash the latest stock rom, the wifi doesn't even turn on... arggghhhhhhhhh!!!!
So I been reading that you need to be rooted to be able to backup the original frameware .\From what I've read the .tar file you flash in Odin is a modified kernel .so after you root you would have a Root+recovery image of the original frameware .
What I'm trying to achieve is to get a full backup of my original frameware, kernel and efs. Before I go balls out off this phone .
I have a i9500 (Baseband i9500ubuamde) Android 4.2.2 . the carrier is Claro ,Dominican republic .
Apparantly you don't even need root to do backup (nandroid).
1. Flash custom recovery (philz) via Odin with phone in download mode.
2.Reboot into recovery.
3.Backup.
Make sure you get recovery for your i9500 and not the i9505.

To my under standing CWM works directly with the kernel so to even achieve that you would need root access .. Now I'm confused . Well ,I found the original frameware and kernel so I'm downloading that now . Seems i need to root the device in order to achieve every of the things I want.
Edit- yes sorry you are using sgs4.
Clockworkmod (ROM manager) only needs root access if you are using the app from the market, if your only using custom recovery you don't even need the app!
BTW recovery doesn't touch kernel and I don't even believe rooting (with cf-autoroot) touches the kernel either so I'm not sure what your reading that's giving you all this information that isn't quite right.

You dont need to do that. Every rom should be available for download. So that includes the one currently installed on your phone.
What you want to achieve is to my knowledge not possible and completely unnecessary. If you want to return your phone to it's original state, you just flash the rom you are currently on true Odin.
ps root and custom recovery are seperate packages. So if you apply one, you won't have the other. You need to apply both.
